Time will tell. None of this is guaranteed. Most alts will get that one and only massive pump, never to return to ath again. As of now, all CL does is burn cash and has zero revenue. Further, if/when companies start using their services, there's no requirement to use Link token. So currently the token has no use. Hopefully that changes.

If, in the certain circumstances in which you can, choose to pay in other tokens you will be cahrged a premium. As the other anon said, once you pay, the tokens will then be converted to LINK. the exact wording in the article is the "tokens can be converted to LINK". There's been some anons saying that the statement is vague because it implies that there is an option to not convert to link. However it has been said multiple times previously that the Link token is needed to interact with oracles, so the use of the word "can" is simply a confirmation that whatever you pay will end up as link
