China is dead. Main reasons:
- belt and road initiative is a huge money sink with no returns. They also scammed nations hosting the project in multiple ways (debt, importing Chinese workers instead of employing locals, no investment in local business)
- housing bubble collapse
- western companies pulling out their manufacturing
- middle-income trap
- authoritarian policies cutting any western ties from homegrown companies. Loss of trust in the eyes of western investors

I share the sentiment regarding US markets, but china is not really a better place to invest.

Retail is completely bullish. The market has been rallying for months and they've been buying the dip. European stocks are hitting ATHs even with an energy crisis and unprecedented rate hikes. short dollar trade is the most crowded trade in the market right now, to the point that there are a ton of memes being made about it
the dollar moving higher is bearish for equities and commodities
everyone, and I mean everyone, believes / positioned themselves for the relative strength of the dollar falling
the market rally over the past month has been driven by the collapse in the relative strength of the dollar
today we saw an intraday reversal after a gap down, indicating that there is still some strength in the dollar - if the dollar rises from here, it will put pressure on equities
the dollar trend is still to the downside - so it is not a declaration of victory for dollar longs - but it is still a very interesting development, that you should be paying attention to

You third button in strong winds when out on a walk should obviously be buttoned same as any jacket to help in the cold. Now again just imagine this suit jacket with the top 2 buttons without that bottom button and the buttons are at the same height. Looks weird right? Doesn't look right? the proportions are fucked. So in order to have a suit jacket that buttons that high you need to have the 3 buttons.

I am heterosexual so I went a different direction. I can't speak on the career path but I am still in contact with many women from my years of study. Most don't work in fashion just like every major in college. Most work in some branch of finance or business since fashion is basically just marketing and selling. Most likely better off just getting an MBA while desiging on the side as a hobby if someone wants to be a designer.

But I think a sewing machine is a great thing to have and know how to use for everyone. It is a very simple tool (not at all a toy) to use and garment creation is both engineering and art which is very fulfilling. I Alter in someway every article of clothing I purchase being it just reinforcing seams that often rip if I buy cheaper clothing or Tailoring lengths and arms and legs etc. When an article of clothing I have gets old I often combine two old garments into one in someway where I won't likely wear the piece out in public but I have created what amounts to a piece of art.

Clothes alteration I believe is a skill everyone should have it is very simple frugal and rewarding. Basically any damage to an article of clothing can be fixed or repaired and likely in fashionable ways.

>we think price action has been the main influence [in raising investor confidence]
>The rally this year has been led by low- quality and heavily shorted stocks. It's also witnessed a strong move in cyclical stocks relative to defensives.
>This is precisely the time to trust your own work and ignore the noise. Suffice it to say, we're not biting on this recent rally because our work and process are so convincingly bearish on earnings...
>Importantly, our earnings call is not predicated on the timing of an economic recession or even whether one occurs this year. Our work shows further erosion in earnings, with the gap between our model and the forward estimates as wide as it's ever been. The last two times our model was this far below consensus, the S&P 500 fell by 34% and 49%. Could our model be wrong? Of course, but given its track record, we don't think it will be wrong directionally, particularly in view of the collection of leading series/models we've published that point to a similar outcome. It's simply a matter of timing and magnitude...and we think the earnings recession is imminent.
>The last two times our model was this far below consensus, the S&P 500 fell by 34% and 49%.

It is design/art and then engineering. Ultimately the engineering of the patterns and choices of fabric and thread etc for their engineering properties ends up meaning more than the art aspects.

You kind of need both a sewing machine and a surger to really complete an alteration or a garment in a timely clean manner. Also for knits you really need a surger. For practice the best thing to do is go to second hand stores and buy articles of clothing that are too big by a size or two and experiment with making them fit. Or clothing that is the proper size for example pants that fit the waist but you would like the legs to be slimmer. Find a pair of pants you like turn both inside out place the one on the other match the outseams and draw a line where your better fitting pants inseam is when laid on top of the baggier pair. Then its just simple sew on that line, trim, surge the excess fabric. Basic skill is just a bit of practice using the machines but they have markings for guide you as you sew and the machine pulls the fabric along for you at a steady pace. It is very very easy to sew a seam at 5/8th of an inch and then surge it.

I just draw the lines and measurements with sharpie on the interior of my clothes to sew since nobody will ever see the inside and it insures I don't make a mistake. You can use tailors chalk and other things like that but I don't like it it rubs off and does'nt adhere to all fabrics etc. So I usually draw dots with sharpie and the use a ball point pen or whatever that will likely come out in a few washes to connect the dots. nobody is going to see these dots and I sew a good 1/16th from them anyway. If I want to I could surge right over the markings and nobody would even know.

I'm not sure of an age a sewing machine is safe. But in terms of age I would be more worried about not maintaining the machine than safety as in getting an injury.

I missspelt it i'm sure you realized they are called sergers. You "can" sew knits with just a sewing machine but you use a zigzag stitch and sewing machines usually don't pull knits as evenly as a serger I find so my zigzag stitched knits the tension on the seam is inconsistent and can look bad.

You can get really cheap rolls of fabric from fabric stores I forget what it is called. Just the cheapest possible stuff designers use to test patterns. Get some of this or even just an old sheet and use that fabric to get her / you to practice just sewing straight seams and then serging the seam. Then practice sewing a folded hem. This is all that anyone really needs to know how to do to alter or make repairs. You can also do basic patterns with this knowledge. But I prefer altering prexisting clothing. Things like neck collars are done by factory machines far better than a human can do.

Many women's garments are far simpler than men's aswell. Skirts and things like tube tops are just cylinders of fabric. Really easy for a woman to get into sewing when she can practice altering / creating those where you can't really go wrong. Making a skirt fit better is the simplest thing you could possibly do. It should be pretty easy to spark the interest.

You want a serger to do things that are knit like T-shirts, mens polos, etc and to finish seams so that even if the seam thread breaks the garment will stay together. You can also just use the serger to create seams if you want that is for when in a real hurry. I worked wardrobe for student films and I would just bring a serger to sets.

Putting money into Chinese stock is no different from placing bets in casino, per Chinese investor saying. You don't know how much of their data are authentic, you don't know when the government is going to either promote or step on the business's industry, you don't know anything going on in central government that determine future of your investment.

Well, it's kind of strange to be judging a fund when someone refuses to tell you what's in it exactly, But from the look of the distribution cycliclal/sensitive/defensive and the p/e ratio, this is a fund that 'looks' defensive (given the deceptively low p/e of 11) until there is a recession, or a commodity crash, given the 34% commodity producer distribution. Given high commodity prices and current recession worries, there is a good possibility that this fund is at a cyclical top (so lot of short-term risk, is my best bet).
Whether it will do well long-term, I couldn't say.
But don't take advice from some random guy on a fund he doesn't know the holdings in, kek.

Then that would imply that bond market participants are also betting on a soft landing, rapid cuts to avert a recession, etc. it's theoretically possible but it would imply that a lot of leading economic data and rules of thumb like yield curves are useless.
