Should I sell my fractional bars for fractional coins?
I mostly have a stack for SHTF scenarios, so have concentrated on very small bars, but I can't help thinking that things like coins would be easier to sell because the buyer can measure diameter, thickness, weigh it, test it etc easier than something in a certi-card thingy. Plus, the new security on the Britannias probably better than on bars.
Any advise /pmg/? Thanks.

Gold and silver are fucking worthless. They have literally dumped 90% since last year and won't stop any time soon. The thing about silver is that there's more than 100x as much in the ground as there is gold (which is also worthless), and its "industrial uses" are massively overrated because copper outclasses it for any conceivable use.

So I was at my LCS pickin' up a few rounds. This Nogrel comes in with a fistful of world coins. He asks the clerk if he'd be interested, and the clerk turns him down. I ask if I can see them. I sort through them, and tell him I'll give him $5. He accepts. Most were crap, but there was
1933 George V 1 shilling - 50% silver
1945 US Philipping dime - 75% silver
1953 Morocco 200 Franc - 72% silver
1937 Syrian 25 Piastres - 68% silver

Nog says he has a shitton more from his recently deceased granddad. I took his number. Probably won't call, but I might. There was a 1945 20 Franc. It's garbage aluminum bronze, but he has no idea what he has, and there might be some good coins in the batch.

Stumbled upon something odd, frens...
Was looking after elements' abundance in the earth crust, and i've noticed they completely messed up the numbers for gold lately. And it's truly all over the place.
From what i remember, silver always was at 0.07ppm, and gold at around 0.004. So basically 15x rarer, which was the commonly accepted ratio used by countries for the conversion rate for so long while both still were monetary metals. Which is logical.

The first link you'll find if you type "elements abundance on earth" is literally a WEF link lol. Which is displaying pic related, coming from Visual Capitalist (the irony...). If you look there, they missed a 0 for gold, putting it at 0.04ppm instead of 0.004, which is a pretty big mistake, it implies silver and gold are equally rare in the earth's crust... Doesn't look very serious from the WEF to check on this.

But anyway. That's where it become confusing, the 2nd link on google : the wiki page, here they changed the earth's crust abundance of gold for one of their source, but not the other.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abundance_of_elements_in_Earth%27s_crust#cite_note-4

Both sources are dated from April 2007 (probably when the wiki entry was created) : it's Barbalance and WebElement. They tend to have pretty similar results for all the elements, but JUST for gold, Barbalance cite 0.001ppm, while WebElement says 0.003ppm.
Which is an abberation. Never i've witnessed this 0.001 figure before, and iirc the commonly accepted figure always have been 0.004... Even on this very wiki page.

So why did they shadow-edit this page? I could swear it was marked 0.004 for both sources not long ago, but i don't have any snapshot to prove it..
And how do they end up with this x4 rarer figure than the commonly accepted sources?

It doesn't look very serious that for the first google links (WEF and wiki), you end up with 3 results for gold's abundance, and all three are widly differents (and wrong) : 0.04, 0.001 and 0.003...

The reason it's ridiculous is because you can't create labor and goods out of thin air. For example you could make a quadrillion platinum coin to pay off the debt and be in credit. You can then take this credit and give it to Americans to deal with inflation. Only thing is that inflation still increases because the actual value of the number is fake. See what I mean.

>> No.53382354

That's not how inflation actually works the inflation would only happen when new money is spent or new debt is created. If we simply paid off all the debt with a 30 some trillion dollar coin nothing would happen. The bankers would be mad if we didn't borrow from them every time we need more money though to pay off the interest on the old debt.

>> No.53382361

Yeah of course inflation increases, but the debt is paid. This is what makes the whole debt ceiling argument silly because there's literally no number they aren't willing to make up. It's imaginary numbers made up to satisfy some other imaginary number. The entire financial world is close to 90% derivative assets so this is basically a giant game of make believe.

Anon, minting a 4 quadrillion coin would still cause inflation because you're inflating the currency by adding more numbers. This creates a problem because now everyone's wages will need rising, but that will have an effect on international trade because American goods have more labor costs and that nations around the world are now poorer because the United States has yet again inflated its world reserve currency. America needs to reduce its currency, but it can't do that because its social programs will implode. Unless you can give me a specific chain of events to fix this, then I say this platinum coin to become debt free is bullshit.

I agree that high silver prices is less of an issue for globohomo simply because it's gold being used as a benchmark to measure currencies' performances, which is the main reason why they suppress gold.

And silver is such a tiny market (cap), as you said it's not much effort for them to pump the prices to continue a cheap inflow of silver from 3rd world > US.
That said, it certainly isn't helping their plan and narrative that in 2022 -for the first time in 50 years-, silver investment's demand outpaced it's industrial demand. Even in 2011 when silver spiked to $50 (would be what, like $90 of today's toilet money?) it didn't occur. Which is pretty incredible when you know it's the second commodity with the most industrial applications after oil..

Overall it's more vital for globohomo to keep gold's price low to save their rotten financial system, but if they lose the battle on silver, how long until they lose it for gold too?
I'm so incredibly bullish on silver i legit need to be interned.

You're not actually understanding the point of the platinum coin but we're not disagreeing with you.

The point of the debt ceiling is to raise the amount of money the government can borrow. This increases the national debt which increases inflation because we need to print cash dollars to borrow to meet this debt.

If congress refuses to raise the debt ceiling, this would mean the government cannot borrow, hence no printing and we enter default. One way to avoid this scenario is to increase the money supply by simply minting a coin worth some insane amount of money. The president has a special ability to do this due to a law passed in 1997 that permits the treasury to mint platinum coins of any denomination without the approval of congress and they are legal tender. This was never an issue before because platinum coins represent a nominal amount of currency. In any case this is Clown World and no idea is too ridiculous for these fucking morons. They'll mint a 1 quadrillion dollar platinum coin and it'll have a pride flag on one side and George Floyd on the other.

Correct, but it would only cause inflation because it's increasing the money supply by being "4 quadrillion." If it were just a coin that was the exact amount to repay all our debts it would cause 0 inflation because the inflation already occurred when the debt was created. Banks can create an infinite amount of inflation by loaning fractionally, and since 2020 I believe we're on no-reserves banking— they can lend infinitely. Even the 4 quadrillion coin would likely not cause inflation as long as the money couldn't enter the economy and was only used to pay debts, but as soon as congress got the digits in the treasury account corresponding to that amount to spend, it would.

I prefer JM bullion, they give a military discount as well which gives you their "bulk" price which can save a couple bucks here and there. And free shipping over 200 so that's nice.
My favorite handgun. I need a full size m&p9 since I rarely shoot 45 anymore. But ended up getting a g17 instead.

Are we doing that stupid two threads thing again!
Oh well…
I can get pic rel for at spot.
But it's only 640 silver. Is 640 even worth getting, if I'm mainly in it for the silver content? Sure, it's recognizable currency, so that counts for something, and most of it is indeed silver, but 640 is quite low. Probably why it's so cheap. What's your take?

checked, one has shiny in OP pic, the other one doesn't so this one is the legit one. I usually only get silver when it is above 70 % silver content otherwise it would cost to much to refine, but I do make some exceptions if it is a coin I like, like the reichsmark

At the base level, gold is a hedge against inflation. At the more speculative level, gold is a bet on remonetization (which looks less and less speculative daily). Platinum is mainly a bet on industrial use, particularly fuel cells.

I would make sure to have plenty of gold before investing much in platinum (other than a bit for fun).

And also HK pistols.

Just gobbled up this unmonogrammed 7" candy dish off eBay for $55.79 total, melt value about $132. Seller thought the "STERLING" mark was the maker's name, kek. Certainly not fren, it's a proper piece of sterling hollow-ware. Weighted stuff with rare exceptions all gets scrapped but I like hoarding these better quality pieces, besides a personal appreciation for antiques so much of this stuff has gotten melted and refined over the years that if tastes change and sterling becomes fashionable again the relatively few pieces that remain will be worth a respectable premium. Anyway keep your eyes open for deals, boomers die and their estates get liquidated every day so good luck hunting.

The bracelet I’ve just posted has been pretty loose and passed around, was not kept away safely like everything else. Like anon said Ivory wouldn't have been painted, not unless done or paid for by great grandma for some reason. The color underneath looks like ivory or bone but could be any number of things, to test if it's plastic you can heat a needle red hot then try to melt/pierce somewhere inconspicuous on the inside. The hinge looks like pretty basic bitch crap though which I wouldn't expect on fine ivory and I think I see a casting bubble so plastic or similar seems most likely.

No. Few ppl want low purity silver below a certain threshold, it's too costly to separate from all the common metals. That's why you still can get various .500 coins for below spot, while .900 premiums are through the roof.

As a rule of thumb, do not stack anything with less than .800 purity. Below that point, it's not considered solid silver anymore.
IF the price is really absurdly cheap you can go for it, as at some point the silver mania will attract all kind of clueless newbs who will want anything stamped "silver" once we reach 3 digits.

Bad idea desu. Lithium is quite common as element, with an abundance of 20ppm. And as the need grows, big corps will invest more in lithium mining and refining process who will drastically lower the extraction's costs.
What was making lithium expensive a decade ago wasn't the rarity of the metal itself, but the lack of facilities designed to refine it. It's the same for all rare earths, it's a misconception to think they are rares. It's just they are incredibly annoying to refine, thus only a company or two in the world specialized in them.

To put things in perspective, lead is almost twice rarer than lithium in the earth's crust. And i doubt you'd ever consider stacking lead bars.

I would agree except regular lithium is common and battery grade is the hard to get quality part, and that's still alot of something you can't sell normally as a metal at your local shop or metal yard even if you gather it somehow. Best way is mining stocks that are directly in mining battery grade lithium mines, since you can't buy positions of lithium in the marketplace as a commodity, nor do you want regular lithium at all. DYOR on the stock tickers, avoid mining stocks with the battery grade lithium/lithium being a small portion of their mining material they are getting, it's about % in this investment.
>>53392583 It's not easy to find much in 925 at smelt or less, too many fucks are hitting the same places, you have to get lucky or know places others don't hit that get fresh stock, minus fuel cost it doesn't cripple most people from searching if they have free time.

A common laborer earned 1 denarius a day in the late republic/early Roman empire. The denarius was silver coinage and roughly 1/10 an ounce of silver or 2.60 a day, however, the relative cost when factoring ancient costs for food and other item was more like the equivalent of $20.

So 11 oz of silver would be 110 denarii or the equivalent of $ 2,200. But perhaps the 30 pieces of silver were Denarii. That would then mean Judas sold out Christ. for 600 bucks.
