That means that if I have $9,000 to invest I keep $6,000 in my bank account and only put $3,000 in my brokerage. not really a BB or keltner channel kind of guy. i just need to know whether price is generally going up or generally going down, which is easy enough to get with moving averages. literally just have 2 of them to dictate trend direction (faster above slower = uptrend, faster below slower = downtrend) and momentum (and oscillator that shows whether the MA's are moving apart or closing together, shown as a histogram, essentially). after that it's just a matter of choosing your entries. reversals of bull/bear flags, entering on a pullback of a certain amount based on the ATR, etc. then just apply risk management to it. i like 1:1 trades myself, my risk and reward are equal on every trade. keeps it simple, all i have to do is win more than i lose, and i do, a lot.

it honestly doesn't matter. 20/50/200 is fine (20/50, 50/200, 20/200, whatever). i personally like the 40/50 EMA's because they tend to hold trend direction better most of the time on pullbacks, i feel like 20/50 tends to cross prematurely too often, but i mean it'll also get you in earlier when trend changes direction for real so it's all a wash at the end of the day. some times it'll work better than 40/50 and sometimes worse.

the key is really just risk management. like say you just have your risk equal to your reward, based on some ATR multiple like let's say 2 (so the size of 2 average bars). you do this on every trade, only trading when the indicators agree on a direction, and you should win more than you lose. you won't win every time, but you don't need to do that to be profitable. that's probably the hardest part for most people. you don't win 100% of the time, you go 1:1 and win 2/3 trades. hell even a 51% win rate would be profitable technically. but considering you're not just trading completely blindly and randomly like a coin flip, but instead you understand how price moves and you're getting in at good entry points, and over 100+ trades the probability should play out.

If you build a mine you have *some* idea about capex costs and risk depending on the mine. So yes there is some dependence on catalysts but way less than medical.
