Can NFTs succeed at being more than just jpegs? I see several discussion about NFTs being used for ticketing, identity management, authentication but I can’t help but wonder if it would be sustainable in the long run or is this just something "they" made up?

Can someone explain why using NFTs for ticketing is a good application?
Normally a ticket is only valid for one point in time, like a concert or a bus trip, etc.
Why should this be stored on a blockchain?
