I explained my thoughts on rocky when I watched it in a thread some time ago. (but maybe I was wrong)
It basically boils down to the plot handing him everything and I didn't like that at the time. I disliked the fact that the only reason he got the chance was because he was randomly picked by some guy and I was much more interested in a story where someone doesn't make it due to coincidences, even better, make him succeed against odds, like in berserk.
Now that some time passed, I learned that this is basically how real life works as well, so I am more forgiving on that aspect. In bocchi the only reason she ends up where she does is because she happened to be at the right place at the right time as well.
This is of course completely ignoring the skill it takes for all of these characters to get where they want to be. I'm likely not making a lot of sense, turns out I'm a bit conflicted on this.

And It's not about what I prefer, or to pain one as better than the other, I am just trying to figure out if there are movies and tv that can make the same emotional payoff work the way anime does. The answer I think Is yes and it's likely Pixar thought I wouldn't know myself.

Blog time! about my top 5 anime, while completely disregarding music animation and other things that one usually talks about when writing review style posts.

MIA, the premise is exactly what I've been dreaming of since forever, platinum tier world building as well. Was sobbing like a baby when nanachi ate REAL FOOD so good it made her cry.

Bocchi, initially wanting to watch it solely to take screencaps because I liked the art, had me in tears 4 minutes in. By the time I was watching episode 6 I basically fell in love. Besides her being literally me, I think I can't recall a time I was feeling this happy watching anime. Excited, intrigued, hooked, whatever, sure, but never happiness to the point of fighting back tears every episode.

Cells at Work! code black, fully, and I mean completely abused my empathy levels, I felt so sad for them to the point of basically weeping every episode. Amazing show, It literally has nothing that I usually enjoy in anime but still gets a solid place in my list.
