I've never heard of it either. I can only guess it might be an issue in a situation where too many people are selling at once and the buyer has a glut of supply so they can afford to be picky. And then the seller treats that anecdotal situation as a rule and lets it influence their stacking and tells other people to only stack certain things without understanding that markets can change real fast.

Im not going to lie to you, after finally having to look at the coin in person, the reverse is virtually mint state. The cartwheeling is exactly as you expect with minimal chatter. The reverse all by itself looks like a MS63/64 to me.
The main problem is that the obverse fields have alot of chatter to them, I honestly think that this coin has potential to get an MS60, which according to PCGS is worth around $2000.

Also if asteroid mining becomes a thing then that just means we'll have enough gold to go on a gold standard again without the price going up to 53,000 dollars an ounce. Which is what it would be with the current amount of gold on earth. I welcome asteroid mining. The intergalactic gold standard will be a time of great prosperity for earthlings and martians alike!

Reposting from the last thread for another poor anon.

I have a confession to make to you guys. I have been in these threads for years but I am a poorfag. I have about 160 oz of silver from scrounging for three years or so but I haven't had enough to buy anything for three months. Today I finally started back up with a 5 oz purchase.

I know it's not a reliable investment as it is just a stay of value during economic turmoil but what are the chances that precious metals go through the roof in price? What are the odds we actually do see a market crash in the foreseeable future? Are there resources I can read up on this stuff? If so I would be very grateful because I am limited to about fifty minutes a day to find out stuff on my own and it's just not that compatible with my schedule. Thank you in arvance I will read anything you send

Allow me to help.
Gold and silver will keep going down at least until they start going up again. We will know for sure when that happens because price changes will switch from a downward direction to an upward direction. One of the indicators that we can use to determine the timing of this change is that we will start to see gold and silver prices rising instead of falling. That will tell us when the direction of the price has changed from moving down to moving up. Once we know for sure that gold and silver are predominantly going upward, we can observe that they will mostly not be going downward. This observation will tell us that on average during that time, a given price will rise instead of fall. This means that the price of such a PM would likely to be going up, and would unlikely to be going down. However, depending on the circumstanes, the price might not move upward, and would instead move downward. In such a case, the value of an investor's holdings would not be rising, and would instead be falling. This is not optimal, as one of the goals of investing is for the value of holdings to go up, and not to go down. Investors prefer to invest in PMs with prices that have an upward direction, and not stocks with a downward direction. Investors that mostly invest in such PMs can expect to see the overall values of their portfolios rise instead of fall. This means that the prices of the PMs within those portfolios are, on average, going up and not going down. Thus, individual PMs may have their own trajectory, but the general direction would be upward instead of downward. In fact, if a price is changing, then that means it is either rising or falling.

i'm a wagie that deals with cash and i always carry 2 bucks in change with a mix of quarters nickels and dimes. Out of my 2 years of handling cash i only found 1 1960 silver quarter on a cash count from previous shift and 1 1943 war nickel from a bank roll i cracked open to fill up the nickel tray.

still a nice feeling though. I don't tell anyone at work about my silver or gold hobby, i just quietly took out a regular quarter and nickel from my personal change to replace the silver i took out from the register so it stays balanced. its not stealing, right? someone paid face value with it, and the business is just gonna use change face value too to give back to customers paying with bills. I also take out low mintage coins or older stuff 1959 or older as a side thing to my silver, and i do the same with replacing it with change i keep in my pocket or wallet.

I suggest you stop thinking about PMs "going through the roof in price". You are thinking in terms of fiat as a measure of value. But fiat has proven to ALWAYS fail as a measure of value because the quantity is in the control of people who ultimately cannot control their own greed and put their own interests above the interests of the rest of humanity. Fiat is a scam that was built on the legacy and reputation of gold and silver but was corrupted. Like every scam and con game, fiat will come to an end and everything that was built on the big lie will come crashing down and be revalued in terms of reliable measures of value. In many cases, the revaluation will be zero. What will be the reliable measures of value when the fiat scam breaks? Stackers believe (if I may be so bold as to speak for them) that the three thousand year history of silver and gold use as money gives a pretty strong hint. And the fact that Central Banks and governments around the world are stacking gold at record levels reinforces the idea that when the fiat scam fails, the world will revert to the always-trusted precious metal monetary system.

In Kamakura, Japan in 1252, the Japanese people built a giant 100-ton bronze statue of the Buddha inside a wooden temple hall. In 1334, a great storm knocked down the building but left the statute untouched. The temple hall surrounding the statute was rebuilt only to be knocked down in a storm again in 1369. The temple hall was rebuilt yet again but a tsunami in 1498 washed it away, leaving the giant bronze statute still in place where you may see it today. You can think of fiat money like the wooden temple structures and gold and silver money like the great bronze statute that emerges from every storm and endures.

Correct, but you can just ref-rame the question in terms of purchasing power. The question is about what a certain amount of gold/silver buys you, like how many egss or how many blowjobs. In that sense PMs are almost certainly going to go "through the roof" some time in the future.

Anyone listen to the JRE episode #1921 with Peter Zeihan? He talks a good bit about Russia and China and he predicts they will both collapse in the next 10 years and that America will have a renaissance of growth and development the likes of which we've never seen. Pretty interesting takes that I haven't heard before, and it goes completely against what all the gold stackers have been predicting (that BRICS will unveil a gold-backed world-reserve currency and the US and the USD will collapse).

For anyone who listened or who's read is his book, I'm curious what your reaction is. I think he makes some interesting points that I hadn't considered.

Any more of a qrd? That sounds unlikely to me but I enjoy reading opposite viewpoints what is the book called?

America's prosperity over the past 200 years was largely due to stumbling upon prime virgin land in the most geographically advantageous location on earth. They have been able to coast on that and set up themselves as a world power for now, but any sort of "resurgence" would have to come from some ground-breaking revolution in technology (probably energy production). As of now we have hit diminishing returns on most everything and will continue to slowly become poorer and experience lowered quality of life. >it goes completely against what all the gold stackers have been predicting (that BRICS will unveil a gold-backed world-reserve currency & the USD will collapse).

Not quite. What stackers have been saying is that BRICS seeks to replace the US dollar as the world's currency because the whole world is sick of the United States using it as political leverage as well as breaking away from the insane currency printing the US does. This requires a huge amount of effort because the US isn't going to take this lying down, especially when it currency has the most powerful army on the planet. I'll list some key parts that BRICS needs to do to be a success.

1. Brazil, Russia, India, China & South Africa have all agreed with a shared basket of currencies that are backed by around 30 different types of commodities.
2. If other countries want to join they just have to do the same, back their currency with one of these types of commodities.
3. It's a massive undertaking to shift away from systems such as SWIFT, but countries like Russia & India are already exchanging commodities under this new system.
4. Russia has near zero debt, China has probably more gold than is letting the world know (around 30,000 tons making it the largest sovereign hold on the planet).
5. Saudi has said that it views China as their main trading partner for next 50 years. This is the biggest development so far because the US dollar is backed by the Petrodollar which could shift to the Petroyuan.
6. Nearly all production of goods is in the East, the West has largely been de-industrialized. This means it not competitive and is dependent on the East.
7. Countries that want to join BRICS will have fresh credit ratings. They can drop the US dollar debt without credit repercussions.
8. If a success the US & the Anglosphere nations will be locked out of 80% of the world economy. That's total financial collapse. No more fake wealth, the west will be in a debt death spiral to what South America is now.

They're not advancing the species, they are simply trying to stay in control of the wealth-extraction mechanism.
The problem they are going to have is that the amount of economic losses are going to be staggering and they may be able to coax people into the new currency system but they can only recapitalize everyone through extreme rationing. The losses will be spread out to those exposed to debt/leverage, and the safety that hard commodities will represent will be well understood. The market will ultimately determine what unfolds next, and there is no guarantee that the political situation will stay intact for them to restart the next grift.

Personally, I think it's decent. This is nonsense. Russia and China can both collapse overnight but they have the productive capacity to pick back up and resume their economy. America's service economy can collapse with extremely limited ability to dig ourselves back out of it. Our economy is extremely dependent on energy, we are a service economy that can stall out very easily, and many public works programs are being financed with taxes coming from a dangerously overleveraged real estate market. We are so saturated with debt and leverage that a deflationary depression could last for decades with people losing out on social security, medicare, medicaid, pensions, 401ks. It's all propped up with debt that is unsustainable.
Also, we are the beneficiaries of a $700BN trade deficit. This is a subsidy to the U.S. economy in that we can then leverage those goods into corporate profits, jobs and taxes. If we return to a net-zero trade balance we will be the ones collapsing. China and Russia can consume their production themselves, there is no magic law of the universe that anyone NEEDs the american consumer. Once the U.S. bond market collapses things are going to change drastically, and most people will have their necks snapped at how dramatic this new paradigm is hoisted upon us.

Checked. It'll be hard for me to do a QRD justice, but here goes.
>China and Russia have a demographic crisis
>younger generations are way too small
>Russia needs access to strategic geographies to sustain its existence
>Ukraine war is Russia's final hail-marry attempt
>even if they win they can't hold all the land they need to cause their infrastructure is shit and they lack the manpower
>China imports more food and energy than any other nation
>impending fertilizer crisis = food crisis = food-importing nations are fucked
>centralization and totalitarianism in both nations have created government rot, removed any contenders for successors, and created feedback loops of lies and misinformation that result in bad decision making
>both nations lack the skilled labor to produce vital things, so when Westerners pull out (energy companies from Russia and semiconductors from China), the native populations can't even maintain what was left behind
Meanwhile the US has
>biggest energy exporter in the world
>biggest food exporter in the world
>we make our own fertilizers
>highest-skilled labor in the world
>neighboring Mexico is our biggest trade partner and they excel in medium-skill production
>neighboring Canada also has high-skilled workforce and produces energy and fertilizer

So basically, when SHTF Russia and China will collapse, many nations around the world will starve to death, and the US and our close friends will thrive. I highly recommend giving the episode a listen. Not sure if he's right about it all, but it's refreshing to break free from the schizo echo chamber and hear some different insights. Listen to different perspectives and make up your own mind.

The petrol dollar being dropped is profound. The world is saturated in dollars and debts that cannot even be repaid, and America can't even sustain itself without printing and spending TRILLIONS of dollars. We're rolling down the exponential slope and real-world scarcity of commodities will expose the paper-ponzi for what it is.
Everyone needs to step back and appreciate how important the bond market is. The stock market can crash overnight and it only hurts individuals. However, the counterparty nature of bonds implies that MASSIVE payments of cash(resources) are owed all over the place to everyone. The capacity for everything to collapse due to counterparty failure is 100% certainty. All of our economic productivity is being hidden and tucked away and exposed to these debts. Every time you do a little bit of work you tuck it away in a 401k until you are 65. You lose money to SS, you lose money to insurance who then goes and buys bonds and MBS. None of this money is being invested, it's being CONSUMED and all you have is a bogus IOU. It's all trash. You and I and everyone are the coal being tossed into the oven to further a globalist terraforming venture. Nothing about this economy is here to make your life better, in fact, they actively try to impoverish you to COMPEL you to work harder and longer. And your little nest-egg waiting for you at retirement age will be worth pennies on the dollar

Redpill me on Goldbacks? I just found out about them the other day, and for someone like me who doesn't make an outstanding amount of money, they seem like an interesting way for me to get into owning gold without totally clearing myself out. Not to mention they're quite pretty.

However, while I understand that they are technically intrinsically valuable due to being made with gold, the fact that they're only manufactured in four states and not considered legal tender anywhere else concerns me a little. If I wanted to sell them again in the future is anyone going to buy them, or will they scoff at them as some sort of failed meme?

This probably seems like a stupid question to most of you, but I've been a slave to heavy debt for quite some time and have only recently been able to think about what I should be doing with money other than paying off balances.

Goldbacks were designed mostly to appeal to those who believe in the wothlessness or at least imminent collapse of local gov't-issued monies (fiat). Their cost prices the gold content at just under twice spot. If you're looking to stack, there are much better buys. If you like the art and novelty, they won't empty your wallet.

There are some anons here who like them but to me they're mostly a novelty item. Buy a couple if you think they're pretty but do not think about them as an investment. Bottom line, they're essentially very high premium (like double over spot) fractional gold pieces, where the element is a pain in the ass to extract.
I think about it this way - if I buy gold at spot, I essentially don't pay anything. I can pay goldback-tier premiums, but only for historical numismatic gold. Therefore I'd only ever buy goldbacks if I wanted a collection of them for numismatic appeal.
If you want small amounts of cheap gold, you have some options such as common historical pieces like 20 Franc LMU coins, which you can grab for as low as 1-2% over spot (so like $400). That or you can go jewellery hunting (as long as you know how it works)
If you don't have a couple hunnids to spend at a time, I recommend you just go for silver

A few questions. What is your firearm situation like? I would drop 1.5k~ on a rifle/handgun. The obvious is an ar platform you can have a PSA ar + decent optic for around 700 then handgun is personal preference I would go glock or sig m17/m18. Then a few hundred worth of ammo for them.
Beyond that I would get 2oz gold, then the rest in silver and maybe 2k in bonds.

This is assuming you have all of your other investments in order.

they're beautiful and i love the symbolism many of them had. they're "voluntary currency" but i think the states that issued them are trying to push for them to be used more.
the way they get made for a state is someone (or people) has to raise X money/people in a state. I looked into it for Louisiana and it came out to iirc 250k because of the low population.

the premiums on them are incredible but i'm hoping over time those premiums decrease as more states and better tech join.
that said, as you can see, i own a good amount and i do try to use them for trades just to get the idea of gold as money back into peoples heads.
am i wasting a lot? yes. can i afford it? yes, so why not. i wouldn't make this the mainstay of my stack and as others said: just save up for a 1/4 ounce if you can't wait.

i also give them out as gifts and the shiny gold really does awaken something in the monkey brain.

here's my old pasta

essentially microfilm gold between plastic. designed to be used as voluntary currency instead of fiat. technologically, the smallest and most affordable fractional gold. entry-level and very normie-friendly
while the smallest denom of 1/1000oz goes for close to $4, they can be used to purchase ~$4 worth of goods/services. so the premium you'd be buying still holds when you "sell"
they're also super kino

its the value of the goldback that certified vendors must accept as per goldback.com as the exchange rate with USD
Right now its $3.99. the company has their own means of calculating it but it is "based off average retail price"
it used to be determined by said formula
since then up to last time I checked (earlier this year), the formula was still decently accurate if you add another 60-70 cents to the result

of course vendors can accept goldbacks at an exchange rate higher, but certified ones are not allowed to devalue it. non-certified vendors can do whatever they want. and out of their state they can only be used technically as barter

the formula basically represented the average cost of an AGE (spot and premium) plus manufacturing costs of the goldbacks
