>There's a staple of modern-day investing that surprises even savvy investors: If you own stocks, but you don't have any paper stock certificates, then chances are that those stocks aren’t being held under your name.

>Rather, most stocks these days are held in the “street name” of the broker, rather than under the name of any particular investor. In that situation, when an investor opens an investment account, the stocks he or she buys are registered in the issuer's books as belonging to the brokerage firm. The brokerage firm, in its records, however, lists the investor as the actual owner. The broker holds the stock in a “book-entry” form, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission.

When did you guys realize that the entire stock market was a scam?

I pay $24k to the IRS and then sales/property tax to the state of Texas which probably ends up being about $11k, so $35k in taxes out of $112K. Also, let’s see a picture of your commie block dump/200+ year old ruin on top of a bodega. I hope you live in some Tudor-style, thatched roof hut with a 6ft ceiling where plumbing, electric and internet are afterthoughts. And the pic you posted looks dope. The best companies. Top and bottom line growth, high returns on capital employed, high margins, low leverage, wide moats.

>> No.53276520

>>53276352
Typically the best companies are priced highly. That leaves limited upside, and huge downside risk should their business model fall apart.
Take Visa for example. They're seeing increasing risk that our government might target legislation against swipe fees and credit card rewards. Meanwhile, cellphone payment apps are becoming more prevalent and may have potential to bypass the payment network rails entirely in the coming years.

Companies like Xeros, Kodak, General Electric all used to be seen as high quality at one point. Back in the 60s there was this concept of the "nifty fifty" list of companies that were simply the biggest and best available, and therefore the only ones worth buying into. They all had dogshit stock performance over the following decades.
Price is what you pay, value is what you get. In the end, you're only getting a good deal on a stock if you're getting more value than you pay for. High price and high value is just a neutral outcome. There's no advantage there.

It's actually a bit more complicated than just looking at relative price though because once you look beyond the "quality" factor, you'll see a bunch of shitcos with terrible business models, repeated dilution that shorts frontrun into, shareholder abuse by self-dealing managements, or outright frauds. If a company is not generating earnings, is not trading at a substantial discount to tangible assets, or is not re-investing/returning capital in a way that benefits longterm shareholder returns, it'll go nowhere in the long term. So you do still generally want to invest in companies that are decently structured. Just don't specifically target the "best" and expect a guaranteed win. Don't assume that higher price means higher value.

True. Tbh there are differences in mentality within Europe, for instance I'm French and I've never lived in anything owned by me nor even my parents, we always rented and are fine with that. But Polish people won't shut up about buying a house, which is ironic given how poor they are, they can't understand why I wouldn't want to get kiked out of my money by a bank to pay for a place that I'm not going to stay in for more than a few years at most.

Independence and freedom. The more properties around the world, the better. Rentals or hotels can be closed, full, deny you service without reason - as is their right. A property owned by you can be customised however you want and cannot be taken away from you.

When you're wealthy, it's completely normal to own at least one, but preferably more houses. When you don't, you cope about renting instead. Owning is insurance should shit hit the fan. A landlord can decide to fuck you with you if they would want to. Moving is a hassle.

Do you penny-pinching kikes understand what a luxury is? Do you understand convenience? Do you shun hotels because they're not worth the premium? Do you refuse to take a taxi because it has a bad dollar/mile ratio? Do you strive to earn more money so you can pinch more pennies while living a poorfag lifestyle of drinking Coca-Cola and staycationing? You want an appreciating asset, short an ARK ETF.

Live a little, move to other countries, don't get tied down for a while, travel to any country you want, stay at 5-star hotels, try nice beers or cocktails, have some foie gras, maybe buy a horse, buy some musical instruments, buy the best shaver on the market, don't look at food prices, do random blood tests, do something with your money other than dumb utilitarian stuff like buying a car and a house and staying there forever. Luxuries are there to make your life more convenient and nicer, they're not the most efficient use of your money but why would you want that if you only spend money on dumb shit like a house. Renting is a luxury, people who know how to live and have the means to live properly rent, the only argument against renting is saving money, which is what poorfags do.

I'm not sure but I saw that the profits that the Fed usually remits to the Treasury have turned into losses far exceeding $10B. I'm not sure what kind of margins the Treasury runs on. That will be very interesting to see if this has any effect on the emergency measures that the Treasury is expected to use to fill debt ceiling gap until September after the limit is officially reached this week.

You're paying theta decay. The average stock has a yearly gain of 10.7%. Look at the option decay chart here:
https://www.projectfinance.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Option-Value-vs-Time-To-Expiration.png

That means that merely holding a 1 year leap for 3 months wipes out your expected gain for the year. If you hold for 1 year you are fucked.

The real money in options is selling them, not buying them. I'm convinced that wallstreetbets, which popularized options with retail, is just a huge shill operation by wall street firms to sucker money out of retail.

Jewish cabal replaced the Nazi cabal, they just have different ways of doing things. And it's all about revenge. I know we're trying to keep it on topic here, but when I see motherfuckers like Larry Fink, wringing their hands, furrowing their brow while smiling, fitting the stereotype exactly, I just say fuck you and all your cronies, guy.

Get them the fuck out of the stock market. Bring back honest American men. We used to BUILD SHIT

i try to tell my family about how fascinating real history is but they don't understand me. truth is just so much more interesting than fiction when you really dig into it. everyone is so hype about "game of thrones" but nigga literally look at history. you want GoT shit? literally unironically look at history it's all over the place. you want "main characters dying"? that shit happens ALL THE TIME in real life. real life history is fucking insane.

consider the 100 year war for example. literally GENERATIONS of people lived and died, where there whole life they knew nothing but war. their ENTIRE LIFE. only war. birth to death. fucking insane to consider nowadays but that was real life. you could have been one of those people. that's the thing that should really fuck you up. I don't go to MCD anymore. Every time I've tried for the past 10 years they've been horribly slow. Like... stuck in the drive-thru line for 20 minutes slow. Every time, across multiple restaurants. And I don't order anything special, just a 1/4 lber and fries. Maybe things have gotten better... I haven't attempted in a couple years. Also, their fucking milkshake machine is always broken

I'm leaving in about 5 months for another region of Poland as I'm quite bored of this one. I don't care whether or not I can afford to buy a house, that's not something I consider outside of this thread, there's no interest for me in doing that. I'm gonna keep moving and until I find where I want to stay for a very long time there's no point in buying anything. I don't know why this simple fact makes Americans seethe so much, like it's an inconceivable concept to them. I'll keep this in mind though, now I know how to generate endless seethe and (You)s exclusively from Amerimutts.

still working on that. theoretically you could take a 1.5xATR discount and then just do 1.5xATR 1:1 risk:reward from there. if it ranges in the direction of trend and momentum, you win, it has to go back 3xATR (3 average candle sizes) from the high or low to stop you out, at which point if the indicators are still agreeing you simply look for a break of the low of the previous candle on a down trend or break of the high on an uptrend to re-enter. when they start disagreeing you stop trying to enter.

there may be a bunch of ways to optimize it though that i have to do research into. like, is 1xATR discount, 1.5x, 2x, 3x etc better? maybe you should get a discount but your risk/reward is different, like you get a 1.5x or 2x discount but you only go for 1xATR 1:1 so you don't need to hit the low or high again to win the trade? maybe you go 2:1 reward: risk instead and hope it goes beyond the high or low to your target? ultimately i think all of these would work but there is certainly optimization to be had. the key is that you win in all the times the price ranges with a bias in the direction of the trend/momentum. the indicators tell you price is "generally" going up or down, and you're essentially playing the range in that direction, until they say otherwise.

most people are stupid. like, most people in the world. IQ is on a normal distribution, a "bell curve", which means half of the world is double digit IQ. i want you to seriously think about this. im completely 100% serious btw im not joking, i want you to actually research IQ and think about this a lot because it's extremely important for you to understand in general. i can't stress this enough. im not joking i really want you to learn about IQ. here's a taste:

>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-Ur71ZnNVk
>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjs2gPa5sD0

really, truly, this is just text but i cannot stress enough: you NEED to know how dumb the average person is. you NEED to know it, understand it fully. you should not go through life not understanding it. if you're actually smart, like myself, it's easy to think everyone is relatively as smart as you. i didn't find out until my 30's how wrong i was. one last time: really, learn about this shit. it's not a joke, most people are idiots.

and they can vote. a vote that is equal to the vote of a smart person.

It's unfortunately worse than ever. I went there last month for the first time in over a year. Only thing that still tastes decent are the fries.
They have these useless touch screens in every restaurant. Every table is dirty. No dollar menu. Quarter pounder is like $10 now. No chicken selects. It's the death spiral every restaurant brand eventually goes through. Maybe someday they'll innovate and refresh the menu, but for now it seems like they're increasingly catering towards an imaginary zoomer audience.
I can't comment on the breakfast menu so perhaps the hashbrowns are still decent when you're stuck in an airport at 6 am.

Just get Chick-fil-a instead.

WTF is this how McD is in burgerland? Here in France, it's okayish for junkfood. Restaurants can be nice and are clean, unless maybe you go into a trash suburb area, but even there I never encountered any problem, not even in fucking St-Denis of all places. Usually quite quick to be served, though it depends on rush hours, but even there I hardly ever had to wait more than 7-8 minutes.
