Credit cards effectively give you a rotating zero interest loan for 1 month at a time.
With treasuries at around 4.8%, that's approximately 0.4% savings on every purchase. Cashback rewards on top of that too.

Stores have to pay swipe fees whenever a customer uses plastic (debit or credit). Those swipe fees get baked into product prices since merchants are not allowed to do surcharges for credit card payers. Credit card issuers use the swipe fees to give rewards to card users. So... if you're paying for something and not using a credit card that gives you rewards then you are in essence giving money to rewards chads like me (unless you pay cash and the merchant has a discount for cash). I choose dividends. If I wanted to buy commodities and sell them at a markup, I'd just make a new business, not buy ownership in an existing one. This isn't drop shipping, this is INVESTING. Where you entrust an entity with some of your money, and they agree to make you money and pay you what they made with your investment, until such a time as they or someone else buys you out.

Reminder that dividends are your right as an investor.

It has nothing to do with luck, you risked too much, that's the only way someone can lose 80% of their portfolio this quickly. If you want to gamble some more then pick puts, a famous trader on Twitter (Wifey) who picked puts correctly on 4 occasions in the previous year just said to get puts right now, and he's likely right. But stop making trades that can cost you more than 20% of your portfolio if they go the wrong way.

also, looking at your pic now: it's kinda crazy how TA works, huh? both of these are perfect entry points tbhwy, you could get in twice where price comes down to "the ceiling becomes the floor" and gets rejected. low risk high reward, clearly, especially if you have some FA to back up the TA after the breakout and pullback.

i seriously don't understand why you faggots don't learn TA. it's not a crystal ball but you combine it with proper risk management and indicators and you'll be making some real fucking money real fucking fast. i've always felt like the people who fail are the ones who just use the TA but don't use the risk management which is the more important part.

cats are assholes. i hate cats. i figured out the best way to describe it too:

dogs are selfless. cats are selfish. that's it. that's the difference. there are cute cat videos out there, sure, but if a cat lets you pet it, it's because IT wants to be pet. and it will bother you until you pet it. and if you want to pet it when it doesn't want to be pet, it will scratch and bite you. meanwhile dogs just want to make you happy. cats are assholes. any "good cats" are the exception, not the rule. any "bad dogs" are the exception, not the rule. in fact pretty much every "bad dog" is the result of being mistreated in some way. the old adage of "people don't own cats, cats own people" works here as well. fuck cats.

i lost like $1k day trading this week because i got emotional after increasing my share size while trying to trade using my phone instead of a PC. it was a painful lesson, but an important one.

people REALLY discount the effect that emotions play in trading. it's probably the most important shit. honestly i really just need to get around to learning enough Python to code a bot to trade for me, because honestly my strategy is sound (taking reversals of pullbacks in a trend and applying risk management to that) but when serious money is on the line i get emotional by price moving even a little against me and pussy out. if i automated it i wouldn't have that problem because it'd just perform every trade perfectly like a machine and never go against the rules even when it loses. it doesn't feel bad, and i need that.

Yeah, emotional self regulation is probably just as big of a deal as a sound strategy. So many different aspects to that as well, from handling losses, keeping yourself from doing something stupid out of boredom, being willing to take appropriate risks, not tapping out too early etc. It's why paper trading is next to useless.

I've been getting better with most aspects of it, except for maybe being too conservative with risk. Decreasing the number of trades I make and setting myself hard limits on loss and number of losing trades helped me the most so far.

I sometimes watch the videos of this guy "day trader next door", trading from his basement in Canada. He's a trading veteran and at this point is really good at it on an intuitive level, but even he struggles with some of this, so I doubt it ever completely goes away.

Same with futures. Fucking around with 1 micro is one thing, trading with 10 full size is another. If you trade 10 full size contracts, S&P futures moving a single point against you is -500$. A 10 point stop is equal to accepting a 5k risk, which is hard to do and even more difficult if you've been wrong twice in a row. Good luck staying focused after taking 10k in losses potentially in a matter of minutes, after you did nothing particularly wrong, knowing that you might lose again the next time you take a trade. It's why I'm sticking to micros for now.

DXY 103 anon here, saw someone post "where was I" when DXY broke down. I'm here was just at work. And yeah DXY gave it all back without putting up a fight.

TA is about probability though, if I could predict the future for certain I'd retire. It still played perfectly around this level and took multiple tries to break and had a two candle retest as resistance. Warning signs were the lower highs leading into the new year off of the 103 level. No strong bounce of multiple tests of support means it's bound to break.

This is why "forever?" is a fair question about dividends too. Companies and business models stop working eventually.
I'd quibble and say consistent earnings are the key, not consistent revenue. Consistently selling at a loss is not a good and sustainable situation for dividends.

Fuck Amex. They arent accepted everywhere. I knw BofA is garbage if you're poor, but i pay no fees at all. They basically pay me to keep my investments with Merrill.
I do have an Amex for groceries, though. 18 mos interest free so I dont have to pay for today's milk and eggs until like july.
