Just experience desu. The bulk of my stack are every variation of government issued 1oz bullion except eagles. When it comes time to sell (which I only do when it comes time for a new motorcycle) those coins sell for $1 over spot typically. A lot has to do with the way those coins get milk spots over time. I spend a lot of time at my LCS and I see them buy eagles for $5-6 over spot fairly often.
However, the premium on coins like wieners and brits are often much lower than eagles, so it really does balance itself out.
The big thing with eagles though, is THEY DONT GET MILK SPOTS. the premium is usually $8-10

to mintAnon regarding design:
gold plating is fun, but shouldn't be overdone. Certainly don't plate his cross. Personally I don't think aputemplar should have a gold crown either, in which case I would just gild his coins and definitely the frogs on the reverse. I wouldn't gild anything else
The dotted circle on the reverse is typically seen on coins on the outermost rim as well, on both obverse and reverse. I would do that, and remove the dots between the latin to clean it up a bit

>how can people claim theres a silver shortage
Most people are stupid parrots repeating catchphrases they read off Reddit. What's actually happening is that registered silver in the COMEX vault is being sold and delivered faster than it is being produced from the mines at a record breaking pace. This trend is pointing to a silver shortage in the near future. This is not guaranteed, it's speculation like all stock, but the early bird is tweeting to get some before the crack up boom because you won't be able to get any at that point.

At least put some effort into making it into looking like a regular anon that would be interested in the coin. For example, make a comment about the design and why you like it, or dislike the other design, something, anything. To make you look less like samefag with a VPN.

and if by the off chance you aren't a samefag, why do you prefer the newer designs over the simpler OP design? Don't you think all that gilded gold is busy as hell?

Oh shit, is this not Hellchan? My mistake. Anyway, a few confessions: I AM using a VPN, but not for samefag purposes; pretty sure this is actually my first post in this thread. I couldn't vote in the poll because of the VPN and my refusal to turn it off.

As for the design, I don't think it's too busy. Use too little gilding and there's no real point in having it, too much and it looks bad. Scale it down to coin size and the amount of gold won't look so imposing, I think.

Ok, my only beef with the one you pointed out is that there isn't a balance between the two sides. And I think a possible solution is to have half the coins on the obverse be gold. And you are right about the scale. The design with more gilding could work.

I like it in theory, but I'm dubious about how that would show up once minted. What about making the sword gold if we're adding more gilding to balance things? The round does say "with SWORD and silver," right?

Look at the details on the dragon for instance, I mean really look at them and ask yourself if you didn't already know it was a dragon would you be able to tell it was a dragon and not a potato with sprouts sticking out of it? I buy mostly junk and vintage bars
Being in a euro country has the advantage that lcs's have dumpsters full of old (silver) currency and some boomers who find their old hidden stash and sell it for euro's.
The alternative is buying high premium commemorative rounds and restrikes from the national mint who don't mind adding premiums from 100% to 1000% on their shop, or new paying for new bars with 20% VAT. It's not hard to find old stuff closer to spot. The old age gives character to the objects and I learn a little about history.

Looks like at least 1 hand forged square nail, and the gaff hook (probably for maneuvering cargo and little boats at an old dock) and other old iron suggest activity in the area long ago. The lead weight looks like a clothing "hem weight" but is probably too big for that, maybe it's a weight from the bottom of window curtains. There could be good old artifacts and coins in the area so keep your eyes open for more than just gold nuggies, hopefully you'll find some medieval crossbow bolt tips or the like in there.

People often lost valuables while crossing rivers via fords or ferries, there are surely nice old coins waiting to be found there. If you see any areas between rocks full of iron objects that is also where the coins would tend to accumulate so dig it up and check it out, I've mentioned it before but I have found lots of silver and some gold rings in creeks and rivers by doing this.

This is not just some ordinary market crash, but a complete and total saturation of the monetary system with debt and paper claims. We are on the cusp of a total revaluation of "claims" against actual goods and commodities. The last time this happened, owners of gold avoided a collapse of their purchasing power 69% and were consequently the beneficiaries of the increase in purchasing power.
There won't be any more free lunches, and the people who lived on the fruits of leverage (via their business, their real estate, their stock portfolio) will see it collapse in real terms once the economy deleverages. The more exposed you are to leverage the worse off you will be.
All of the paper gains we made while swiping the credit card will be given back. All of the capital appreciation you saw that was a function of leverage will be taken from you. There will be no more excess capacity, there will be no more pent up demand. Everything will be consumed and excess/surplus will be very hard to come by, which is why PMs will be so valuable.

I bought one on a Black Friday sale and it is sublime. The dimensions are perfect, it comes in a small box and tightly wrapped cellophane. If I buy up kilos I definitely would consider paying a higher premium for more of them.
Some of the long-flat bars that are nice as 10oz bars, don't look nearly as nice as kilos. The loaf bars are superior imo.
One disclaimer is that silver is silver. Outside of personal preference, getting the cheapest silver is ideal. You may leave a few precious ounces on the table depending on what/where/when and how you purchase.

Greatly exaggerated collapse. currency inflating is a feature of a debt based fiat system, not a bug. If you were to stop all the new debt and pay off/down the existing debt, the system would collapse overnight. And it will be a shit ton of newly created USD. The Fed can do what it likes with interest rates and such, but when the Treasury comes looking for a buyer for its paper to cover government expenses, the Fed will have no choice but to create massive amounts of new dollars, including dollars to pay off China, Japan, etc. And then all those dollars will come flooding back into the domestic market as everyone tries to unload their declining dollars. The long-term outlook is for a fiery death by inflation.

>> No.53241013

>>53240825
The problem is the inflation rate being higher than interest rates. Despite what people think, inflation is not some uniform rising of the tide. People get burned for years before there is any increase in wages.
This is not a problem that can realistically be solved, so we essentially have an erroding of the economy from the bottom up that will cascade into unemployment, compressed wages paired with inflation, declining home prices and consquent reduction in tax receipts, increased selling of assets by retirees and essentially zero help coming from younger generations who are financially ruined by student loans.
There may be brief spurts of economic activity or productive spending here and there, and not every area will be hit the same, but the downward trend of this economy is real. The economy was sustained on expanding credit, and as we have hit the saturation point all that is left is to steal our wealth via inflation to prevent the deflationary collapse.
I don't think twice about my PM stack not earning a return, because every overleveraged asset class will give away all of their gains anyway.
We want money so we can acquire goods/resources. We can skip the destruction of money by just owning some valuable resources. It's the most simple logic to understand I often wonder how people don't see it so clearly as I do.

Fun with sheets.
Not sure why Incrementum says 9.4%. I guess there's a difference between average and constant annual percent rates of increase. I iterated that 8.4% would bring the value to current.
Pink are numbers to enter for experimentation. Purple are calculated final results. It checks out.
I was astonished to be reminded how inexpensive gold was in 2000. I remember a year or two earlier I bought my sister an ounce of gold findings for $250 so she could make some jewelry.

This, mintanon. However, I think it should be the other way. Power in the accusative and serpent/dragon in the plural genitive. This construction would be:
>SCUTUM CONTRA ANGUIUM IMPERIUM
>defense against the power of dragons

Instead of the original
>SCUTUM CONTRA ANGUES IMPERIU(M)
>defense against dragons power

Incidentally the word pattern is also better in the new one (-ium -ium)

"a shield against the serpents of government"

imperius=government according to the google translate

Three things for you to know about Latin:
- words have multiple translations in English according to context, so your use of government is apt
- word order (basically) isn't a thing. If the grammar isn't matched to the rest of the sentence then the syntax isn't complete and you are writing dogshit Latin: "scutum contra angues imperius" means "against serpents protection government"
- Google translate doesn't work for Latin. It is notoriously bad. This is because Latin is an inflected language. Google translate doesn't work for Latin.

My Latin abilities aren't perfect but SCUTUM CONTRA ANGUIUM IMPERIUM is simply more correct. I don't personally care about this but people who actually are familiar with Latin would look at it and scoff, possibly even causing them to doubt the authenticity of the coin.

You sure we're taxed up here man? My LCS is a pretty balling location and they have the most fantastic deal on junk silver i've yet to find, but I didn't think there were taxes on Junk silver. The government considers it a financial instrument since it's actual currency.

If you're paying significantly more than face value, Eg $20 for a $1 silver coin, then it becomes a collectible / numismashit which is technically taxable if it's below .999 purity. Anything below that purity is technically supposed to be taxed but some based LCS don't. I guess it's a somewhat grey area

>word order (basically) isn't a thing
It matters for prepositions, for example. "Roma in vir habitat" is nonsense.
The word order is much less strict though, and individual authors tend to have their own stylistic flourish of where they chose to place clauses verbs etc.
That isn't to say there aren't clear trends though. Genitive usually follows the thing it's describing, verbs usually end clauses, subjects usually lead the sentence, etc.

>"scutum contra angues imperius" means "against serpents protection government"
It doesn't mean anything because imperius isn't a valid form.
However "scutum contra angues imperii" would translate to fine "a shield from the snakes of the government".
That said, I believe "serpentes" might be a better choice that "angues" if you're using it pejoratively, since it can't also mean dragon.

>My Latin abilities aren't perfect but SCUTUM CONTRA ANGUIUM IMPERIUM is simply more correct
It literally depends on what OP was trying to say. Are they saying "power of dragons" or pejoratively calling glowies snakes?
(contra imperium anguim is a better order. I don't think you can interrupt the contra+[acc] by inserting a genitive of description before the accusative).
