Companies are still hiring.
For every extra $1/raise or promotion you get, that's an additional $2,000/year in earnings (if you work 40 hours/week, 50-weeks/year.
Why aren't you applying to higher paying jobs?
Why aren't you asking for a raise?
Why aren't you asking for more hours, or to work over-time (if it's available)?

>> No.53208782

Simple enough to ask for a raise.
>I've been working here for [longer than 6-months]. Can I have a raise in pay?
No, not at this time.
>Well, is there anything I can do over the next 6-months to earn a raise?
Sure: show up on time, don't call out sick as often, do X, Y, and Z more often, and then we can talk about a raise in the future.

Alright, here's what you could do:
>Make a list of the top 20-companies in your area, or the top 20-companies you'd like to work for.
>Start applying to jobs/internships for ALL of them, even if they don't have any listings opened. Use an Excel sheet to track it.
>Next, carefully reach out to HR or hiring people on LinkedIn (maybe even employees in the same department, but only like 1-2 per company, otherwise they'll think you're just spamming), and send them a short/brief message, "I'm a recent graduate from XYZ college/program, and I'm starting my job search before I graduate. Could I set up a call with you to learn more about your company?"
>On the call, ask about the company, upcoming products/projects, what the corporate culture is like, etc. Thank them for their time, be on your way.
>Then, keep an eye out for any openings, and THEN send them an email and message, "We spoke a while ago, I saw an opening that could be a good fit so I applied to it on the website. Hope to hear back soon!"

If you don't have connections, you have to slowly build connections.

>> No.53213879

>>53213677
Start reaching out to recruiters too.
I personally don't think you should be going through so many rounds of interviews. Maybe it's because I have more experience, but I usually have two interviews: one with a recruiter, and one with a hiring manager/team.
At the end of the interview, I always ask "Is there anything else you'd like to know that we didn't get a chance to talk about?" Sometimes we'll talk for another few minutes, other times they say No and we end the call. I always ask what the next steps are, and they usually say "We'll reach out in a few days."
If they ever ask for another interview, I almost always decline. There was one time I went to a third interview, and I straight up said "I've already gone over all of this info with your colleagues. To be honest, I'm a little perplexed as to why they didn't go over this information with you, sounds like a waste of time on their part. Wouldn't you rather ask me about things they didn't get a chance to talk about?"
I ended up getting a contract from that interview, they liked how direct I was, and agreed that their hiring process could use some streamlining (which I helped them out with).

For accountants, it can get really busy during tax-season and/or quarterly filings. I've heard the best thing to do is, as best you can, start work early so you're not rushing to finish reports last minute. Whatever you can do ahead of time, get it done.
