And that's what nearly happened when Celsius started losing money and needed to pull their shit out of every DeFi protocol. When they saw Celsius moving their shit out of the protocol, hundreds of millions of dollars worth, they turned off the impermanent loss system to stop the protocol from printing out bancor tokens that would have paid back Celsius to cover the impermanent loss. They never turned it back on.

So everyone else who wanted to pull their tokens out would have to take the impermanent loss and which would then become permanent. Those who are still in the protocol, they risk the impermanent loss inflating even more to lose their link, potentially all of their lent Link if the price of Link moons.
