Missing a proper portfolio for a web development company. I live in a small town that has a lot of tourists that vacation here in the summer. Most local fast food restaurants have almost no online presence. Tourists don't know what's available or where they are unless they happen to pass by them. Gonna work on a couple projects to show on the company website then start messaging proposals to local businesses that include a link to a quick shopify mockup. Anyone had luck with a strategy like this? What was your response rate like?

This isn't what I want to do of course. I'm an actual software developer and this is basically just clicking a few boxes. Gotta start somewhere though. After I get a bit of a portfolio I plan to try for better contracts like mobile apps for stores and what not.

I have had two businesses, both were somewhat successful but not sustainable so I wound them down (online shops).
I have a third business I want to do, but I require minimum $1mil before getting a loan for it. The total expense for the initial phase will be around $2.5m. Expansion plans cost anywhere up to $5-6m.
