Thank you for the answers.

So each strike has its own order book and auction going on at every option expiration? That is a lot of information... What is the best way if any to process all of that information if one is just desiring to get some probability information about the underlying from the options pricing?

I know it is all basic stuff but there is so much bad/flawed information out there now it is hard to find good information and then the good information leaves out some important assumptions.

lmao ok. Or maybe you need to learn to be less degenerate with leverage. If you can gain 78% overnight then maybe you can also lose 72% overnight, then what? Remember the more leverage you use on CFDs the more linear your losses get meaning that it's easier for the gains of several trades to be lost in one trade.

GME, anything Cathy owns. I also have some shorts on some cryptos but I must warn you, this isn't necessarily the best time to short. I've been shorting since late 2021. It's probably gonna go around $4k and drop further but it's hard to know how much or if what you short will make you money at this moment because we're not in free money territory anymore, although I think Europe has many bad loans, so something may break. Once it does, don't get greedy, go long in anticipation of the "solution" but I think it's safe to short until sometime this year

It's not even the same amount, you're hoping for a move larger than the move that it would take for you to get margin called, and you're betting against the trend too. Again, if a +7.8% is possible, then surely a -5.2% move is at least on the same level of likelyhood, wouldn't you say so? And it's not even a matter of where it will close, you'll get instantly liquidated if you get a -5.2% drawdown even for a second. You're clearly new to this and speedrunning babby's first margin call. I gave you good advice but only losing most of your money can teach you a lesson.

>> No.53183598

CPI for europe and other countries that have released have been below forecast and US last time was also below IIRC so likely will be low. Which doesn't really help us because a low CPI signals to the FED things are fine ands working which means rate cuts will happen later. If it comes in hot then that signals FED needs to cut rates but they probably wont because things are FUCKED so. Most likely the numbers are faked anyway and will come in lower because higher would cause a panic. Check revisions on previous CPI if any when the news releases.

Earnings is alot of it banks and finance industry big namse like JPM and blackrock etc so I really don't have much insight there. They release Friday before open.

>So each strike has its own order book and auction going on at every option expiration?
no, some strikes have zero interest - meaning no one has bought/sold that strike price. usually these are way OTM options that no one thinks the stock will ever reach by expiration, so no one is buying them

>>53182763
>What is the best way if any to process all of that information if one is just desiring to get some probability information about the underlying from the options pricing?
go look at the options chain. this will list all the strike prices, open interest, volume, and the delta. the delta is the probability that the market is assigning to that strike price that it could actually finish ITM by expiration. the delta tells you other stuff too, but that's one way to read the delta

some stocks are not very popular and will have very little interest at any strike price - these are illiquid and not very useful for trading. popular stocks like AAPL and TSLA will have tons of strikes and volume

>> No.53184556

>>53182763
>>53182763
Delta is used as a proxy for the probability of a particular option contract expiring in the money. Not the purest metric as it's based on contract price related to the underlying. I've read about people interpreting call/put ratio and volumes for either sets of contracts and open interest stats at certain strikes to gage market sentiment for the underlying.

First off, the "friends" that were there were my highschool friends and we haven't really interacted with eachother for the last 1.5 years and there's 2 of them in the story. One of them was fine, but the guy's house we were staying over at was a disgusting slob and a midget. He literally was saying the same thing over and over again, how he did this at this one college party and then repeated the same thing 10 minutes later expecting a different response. Nigger I heard you the first time and it's nothing amazing why are you saying the same shit 10 times dumb fuck.

It's very clear that he doesn't go out at all, because the one night that we did, he couldn't make up his mind about a fucking restaurant, and the restaurant that he did want to go was an overpriced Mediterranean place with the most mediocre food imaginable. After paying for the most rubbish experience ever, we decide to go to a bar but I channeled my inner /biz/raeli I'm like "We should pregame first or we're going broke in the bar".

They're all down and I suggest a handle of svekda or anything vodka but no, they're a bunch of pussies and they opt for soju and I buy that shit with them. Doesn't get me drunk at all and we end up fucking going to a black club and I'm like why are we here? We pay and go in and they realize I'm right so we go somewhere else, and lemme tell you guys. The bar that we went to next told me all I needed to know about these absolute fucktards, they get in there buy coke and whiskey which is 14$ each, and it was completely watered down. They get like 6 of that shit each, and start "dancing" with people. And by that I mean the midget was screaming and acting possessed and walking up to girls and getting absolutely denied by them. At this point I was completely done and was in the corner shitposting and watching memes.

After 3 fucking grueling hours, they're finally tired and we decide to head back. The fucking midget loses his ID and starts flipping out, I'm like it's probably at the bar lets just walk back. And he just says the same thing "Oh fuck I lost my ID". Legit brain dead morrowind npc. Eventually we go back to his house (he still lives with this parents), and he's trying to come up with excuses on why we came back late. I'm like bro, we're old enough for them to not able to say shit, Why are you acting like a fucking child. And then the midget and the other guy literally just keep talking about how they almost got that girl at the bar. Lol right. And the next day, these fuckers unironically was watching "Too hot to handle".

So I just left to hang with a different friend and rescheduled my ticket there. Jesus fuck, unbelievable. What a waste of money, came back home today and I'm fuming.

The last few years the hype is to issue share buybacks instead of dividends however, to make it seem like you're still a high valued growth stock, while in reality you're either stagnating or turning into value stock.

Does anyone actually believe that the fed will be able to hold rates at 5+% until 2024?
Employment is going to roll over soon and rates will rapidly be deeply restrictive.
Equity markets might be overoptimistic about forward earnings, but I don't think the bond market is far off at all.

I think some point soon the market is going to have to change to bad news = bad news mode, but I don't know how long that will take.

Bad news will start to be taken seriously no sooner than once you start seeing blood in the skeets. The market will lose the game of chicken with the fed due to the the fed not caring about equity markets.

Wall Street, your mom, and every company was so fucking wrong about 2022.

2023 will bring more pain for equity and crypto holders. The US won't go into recession but we won't see the stock market recover.

Everyone is screaming recession and wall Street is begging for JPow to pivot.

You can be assured that stocks will continue to be under pressure. Crypto is fuckin dead so don't waste your time. The everything bubble has deflated and it's not coming back.

JPow has repeatedly said that they will not give the fed put. even if we go into recession, there won't be any printing because inflation is too high...and JPow is much smarter than your dumb ass.

There won't be hyperinflation. There won't be a crypto boom. The stock market won't recover.

We are in for a decade of stocks and crypto underperforming.

Not really. Index options are probably just as bad or worse, I mean you’re buying an option for 100 shares so that can either go very right or very wrong quickly. But I’ve gotten pretty decent at risk management and knowing what strikes/expiry and when to buy. Burned through $3k in a couple months last summer and now I’m in the green a couple grand. It’s mostly just about minimizing your downside with stop losses so if it runs against you you don’t get absolutely fucked. And making sure you take profit before it reverses. It takes practice like anything. I usually just buy one or two spy contracts, ride them to +30-50%, cash out, call it a day. The shit part is when your stop is too aggressive and you get stopped out right before a nice move. But I’m not expert and I’m sure someone here will but in to say no one is profitable day trading.
