"inflation is subsiding on its own"
>0% reserve requirement for banks to print money

a massive recession with massive unemployment and homelesseness may bring down the price of houses temporarily, but it wont fix the massive inflation problem since that is created by 0 reserve lending. the only way Powell can try to combat this is to increase interest rates so high, that people stop taking out loans to finance things they cant afford and keep rates permanently high to prevent the problem from reoccurring.

You could’ve ended the statement there and it’d be good.

He should leave rates where they are and accelerate the balance sheet reduction rate.

Nah he’s right, rates are still too low. I’m still using my many credit cards and taking out personal loans from Upstart to gamble with in the stock market.

He's just doing the same thing that Pau Volcker did in 1981. He raised interest rates to 20% saying it was need to help fight inflation but which was really to fuck up the industrial base of America and make infrastructural projects more expensive. Manufacturing never recovered.
Powell is carrying out the same rugpull. Cause inflation and then offer the solution to the same problem you caused by raising interest rates.
Which causes more problems.
These guys know what they're doing
