how do I get a job at a bank?

>> No.53179683

I dunno. Only person who I ever knew who got a job at a bank left high school for it, so either it can't be that difficult, or the secret cabal observes us all through high-school, waiting until we turn seventeen to select those that are worthy.

I think you have to know somebody? And an associate's degree would probably help a lot

I was kinda hoping like an analyst type role not a bank teller but that seems comfy as well in a mcdonalds with air conditioning kinda way

ah yeah, basically any job that isn't a restaurant, construction, warehouse etc. should be a nice stepping stone. Retail could be OK if you can try to advance in the clerical/administrative direction. Call center does make a lot of sense, or anywhere that's hiring for data entry or something. Once you spend too much time doing restaurant/construction work people think that's all you can do even if you become a manager so avoid those industries

anyone worked for a bank before? is it comfy, do you get to dress up like the american psycho guy?

If you have the qualifications and already work at a bank they're gonna promote from within. It costs ~$50,000 (in terms of risk) for large companies to hire from outside.

get a bachelors in accounting/finance. i work in accounting and briefly looking into working at a bank in a regulatory or compliance role. i don't think banks pay that well and the work is pretty boring. also it's boomer culture to the max.

anon, unless you're working for the big guys like Goldman or Blackrock and other heavy weight investment banks its going to be boring af. you'll have to deal with old people setting up savings accounts for their children/grandchildren and other boring shit.
