the man in charge and ultimately responsible for a multi-billion dollar organization across all facets of its operations, including providing an income for the hundreds/thousands of men and women it employs, deserves to be paid commesurate with the responsibilities he bears

the average rank and file employee has no loyalty and no skin in the game. If the company goes under he just gets a new job. Why does he deserve anything more than the bare minimum? if it's so fucking easy he can go start his own business

Yeah, no shit, the argument is that "typical" or "average" has been regressing. "Average" still bought a house on a single income 50 years ago.

>>53173547
Maybe, it's better than waging at a McJob.
But really it means the money supply has been inflated out from underneath us while the printed currency largely gets sucked up by the stock market.
CEOs get mostly stock options and equity as compensation, so when markets keep going up, in part due to the money printer, they benefit.
This disconnect in worker and CEO pay was not very pronounced before 1970, roughly. The dollar-to-gold link (Bretton Woods) was ended right around then, so think what you want about that.

>> No.53177977

>>53174674
If people really understood what central banks did to them, there would be a revolution by morning.
Anyways, it's by design.
But, you should know that the volcker shock was really just the response to the dollar being made non-redeemable in gold (and the following inflation) - it's not the problem on its own, it was the response to try to salvage the situation.
Without Volcker jacking rates to the moon, the dollar would have been ruined even further.

It's easy to justify why it's like that now.
CEOs deserve to be paid more than workers because they're doing more or something.

as a counterpoint, audit and other regulatory services are considerably more complex in a post-SOX world yet salaries for us aren't 900%. CEO pay is largely an american phenomena, a cult of personality over mentally retarded scam artists who stick around for 5 years and earn extravagant paydays whether they do well (Microsoft's comeback) or whether they destroy the company with mind numbingly retarded decisions (Jack Welch's destruction of GE, which is somehow still viewed through mentally retarded rose tinted glasses worn by brain dead nigger retards.)
