I do night shift security and literally get paid to sht post on biz or play vidya on my phone the whole night. I make slightly more than the actual producers. My whole shift is basically a break. Been doing this since like 2017-2018 and even after all this time I still get weirded out with how I get paid to basically do nothing besides be a "first responder", but nothing ever happens. I'm basically just an insurance in human form
thots? And no, fuck careers. Never getting one. Tried that in the past and shit is ass.
Next bullrun I'll make it anyways. Almost did in the last one.

btw not all posts are the same, but in this one they let me chill in my car the whole night

What are you supposed to be guarding? I have a similar job in transit but only half of my day is like that and I have to do shit late at night a little more often. No one is going to bother robbing this place so I’m just supervising a few employees who all generally know what they’re doing. All I need to do when something goes wrong is call a few people and maybe show up to the scene. So long as nothing comes up I just spend the night reading copium about my heavy, heavy crypto bags.

guarding employee's cars+building, but it's also located in a place where it's nothing but factories/warehouses so no degenerates actually come here besides some potheads that park on the street from time to time. Not my problem though so long as they don't enter this property or damage one around me. That never happens though.

After my mother's father got back from Korea he worked security outside a gm plant until he retired: after I got back from Iraq I gave it a shot and hot damn is it getting paid for nothing, night watchman at a construction site or company office building, listening to AM radio, thinking about shit, coming home zen. Sure an hour of my pay was lost buying a burrito from the company cafeteria, but it was a good fucking burrito.

How is the town? Good demographics?
That sounds like a great job to look for if something happens to what I am doing and I haven’t succeeded in other ventures.

Security is based when you're young, especially if you're in college, if you're a freshman or doing a fairly easy degree that just requires memorization, you can study on the job and get paid okay for it. As you get older or you head into your late 20s, security is soul-sucking and insanely depressing, but you become spoiled because I can't imagine any security guard withstanding what the average food-service/retail/warehouse wagie endures on a daily basis. Security is a complete sham and you'll have absolutely zero skills that come from the "experience" of working security, you could possibly land a better security position after getting a YOE. I landed a $25/hr job at a government facility and worked there for 1.5 years as I was finishing up my degree, probably the most comfy time in my life. Working security with nothing to look forward to will make you suicidal. If you're working just to work, become a truck driver and make 80-100k/year with practically no expenses.

They'll hire anyone, I had a 65 year old coworker who could barely walk and was practically brain dead, he couldn't even do basic algebra. He was a great security guard and actually tried so it made everyone else's job easier. It was kind of fucked up bc he would miss out on OT pay and didn't even know because he calculated everything wrong.
>>53168104
In security you're trained to do nothing at all, literally: observe & report, that's it. You would be a fucking fool to actually try and protect a property against sketchy people, in that case, call the cops immediately and hide. It's your life, do not fuck around. Let the cops deal with it and 100% you'll never get fired. My first security job was on a 2 acre property with tall buildings so you had to route through it with a golf cart, basically some guy we worked with fell asleep in his car, almost every 8-hour shift for a fucking year. Didn't get fired, just got transferred to a different site.

your career = your job(s) = 'whatever you call money'-earning activities that you do. These wordies all mean the same.

i know jobs like that fuck up your ability to see your friends and your family but they can pay really well. Why dont people just suck it up and do it anyway for a year or two and then leave? If you can save up a lot of money cant you springboard off of it? Sounds like a strategically good choice.

Imagine wasting away and smoothing your brain, some people have the "it's a career in the security industry" but for me it was absolutely mind numbing. No one to talk to, no real stimulation from the environment due to non events happening. One thing is you need to see if shits about do go down and you need to respond accordingly, ie in case there were to be a serious injury or death, but I'm sure you learnt that when you did your security/law certificate lol.

Anyway just keep stacking bricks but the pay was fucking lousy.

I’ve seen people in their 60’s. It’s not a dangerous job. Fairly low pay is the downside
