Homer could afford a house, non working wife, 2 cars, 3 kids and 2 pets with this pay in the 90s?

It was a cartoon

But if you apply logic to it, it's because a small town with one or two factories (or nuclear power plants) was self-sustaining but also home prices were significantly lower so Homer was making like 20k a year but his house was probably worth like 40k max.

Now homer would be a big fat boomer and even though the power plant would be replaced with a massive ugly wind farm or something (also owned by burns, who somehow doesn't die similar to buffet and soros and redstone and murdoch) and used to get tax credits instead of actually producing anything, homer's crappy suburban shitbox would be worth like 400k meanwhile bart is working as a paralegal to get through law school in his 40s making 40k a year or something.

Stuff like FICA prop up social security programs, like how in spain or whatever retarded country you're in does the same thing.

Net pay is his pay after taxes and is around 19k, so his gross pay before taxes would be like 477 dollars so he'd be making about 25k a year gross.

At the end of the year he'd file his taxes and get a tax return of about 3k dollars. He would also get get tax refunds for having kids that would probably give him like 1000 dollars for having 3 kids.

I used to love old simpsons. This thread is depressing seeing everything taken from us. The old "average man" lifestyle is out of reach; I live like bart in >>53152458 but make less and save money by staying with parents. I've quit drinking; saves money and better for my health but some nights are really bad being sober while everything is so shit.

almost true. homer would've actually made about twice that amount, could afford a housewife, 1 car, 3 kids and 2 pets. no man back then would allow their housewife to own a car so that she could cheat on him while he's at work lol
