That's what got me here, S*TF was in good spirits but not nearly as good as /pmg. Now this thread is comfy.
Also got a couple of neat little things from a pawn shop today. All the halves were $12 a pop, right at my spending limit for halves but made off well. The Franklin is REALLY nice, definitely not cleaned. If it was valuable enough to grade I would do so because it's certainly an AU. The Washington commem is 90%, first 90% silver coin the mint produced since 1964. And then a Barber half for only $12 is pretty sweet. Really want a seated liberty or a capped bust half someday.

Why don't philharmonics ring as well as other coins? The chime diminishes so quickly. Is it because its thicker? Neither does a maple.
The 80% Canadian collar coins ring with a lovely sound and it lasts a while too. A walking liberty half dollar rings well too, although not as long.
Is it the fineness or the shape that does it?

I see your pov but respectfully disagree. There’s something so organized and tidy about graded coins as opposed to just having them loose or in a book or whatnot.

Rember that you aren't unique nor smart. First 20 or so hiding spots you'll come up with probably will be obvious and thieves will get them. Laundry baskets, flour containers, books, under tge mattressetc. It's all shitty; they know.
Gas traps under the sink seem alright but it only works for stacklets

If you buy a car from a dealer and then a week later sell it back to him, do you expect him to give you the same amount you paid for it? Do you think bullion dealers are charities of some kind? Of course they sell for more than they buy for. That's how businesses stay in business. If you don't like the spread, shop around. If you can't do better, then you have discovered what the market price is. And the market doesn't care what you think, by the way. Gotta get a little car work done so I dipped my toes into the realm of selling silver, went to a highly rated LCS yesterday just before closing at 5 PM and they paid $250 cash for a 10oz generic bar, pic related. Kitco spot price was around $23.75/oz at the time.
Inb4 muh >selling
I have lots of silver and bought a bunch during the 2020 bottom so made about $100, figured it would be good to familiarize myself with the process and chat with the coin shop proprietors, it was a smooth experience. I dunno where the FUDfags get the idea that you can only sell at under spot, all things considered it was easier and faster than a trip to the bank and simpler than selling on eGay or through something like craigslist.

Both. If they are clever and/or lucky, they benefit from market changes. But for their daily bread, they live off a markup from wholesale to resale. They must be able to profit from their sales no matter what the market is doing. In this way they are like stock brokers. Otherwise they would go out of business anytime the market price slumped.

You would be a fool to think that. When a state starts to lose power it always tightens its grip. Always. Your problem won't be the politicians but the people who desire and can't think of a scenario without the state. The pandemic lockdowns showed just how authoritarian the public can be when given consent. The elites know this, that's why their propaganda is so effective.

I'd like to discuss alternative investments, but still tied to PMs.
Is any fren in possession of :
>antique PM items
>art/craft
>collectibles in non-coin form
?

I know collectibles/old cars/etc.. are becoming a non-fringe part of the modern portfolio, and they often vastly outperformed the markets this past decade.
I wonder if it's the same for PM collectibles/antique?

I'm asking because i feel like they have the best of both worlds :
>minimum value is guaranteed by the metal content
>extra value from collectibility can outperform the PM content in a crab scenario
Not only that, but because they are made out of materials made to last, they don't face the issue of many others collectibles like mtg cards, rare books, stamps, etc.. who are very fragile and fear excess heat and humidity. Moreover, they all have hallmarks making them easy to identify.

Personally, i started to collect pre-revolutionary silverware i can find on ebay. I'm only picking stuff who is close to spot for now, so the "collectible" cost is basically zero for me. But if it were to become trendy or whatever, then it will outperform the simple metal value.

Any fren to share their idea/collection concerning antique PM?

Pic rel sold yesterday on ebay for over 500€. It's a pre-revolutionary timbale from 1750, and weight 200gr. So basically 140€ worth of silver in it, and a 360€ premium for the craft.

>Quantitative tightening for the first time since 1959

How much tightening until the pivot. In reality it has become a race against the clock of the Fed trying to undo the debasing of the US Dollar before countries around the world drop their Dollar reserves for BRICS. I personally don't think the Fed will do it in time for the simple fact that the money supply increased in quantity over half a century.

I've had a jar full of mostly pennies that my mom gave me a long time ago. It's been so long since I looked through it that I forgot there were a few miscellaneous coins sewn through it and I was so ignorant of coins that I didn't realize I had a mercury dime in there all this time (a real pleasant surprise!)

Anyways. I found this in there. Can you identify it and does it have precious metal in it? PIC 1 OF 2

Gold stayed the same back then, silver lost value.
picrel is the amount of money in circulation.
European bankers pribed the senate to reduce the amount of money with the purpose to wreck the economy. The European bankers took over after this and implemented their gold standard. Don't know if gold or silver is the winner this time.

>your PMs represent a sizable portion of your overall net worth, enough that losing it would be a significant financial problem
>you are not physically near your PMs most of the time (meaning in the same house)
>you don't need to frequently access your PMs
>you would want someone to inherit the PMs if you die unexpectedly
>At least one other person in your life is aware that you have these PMs
I'd say if all of the above is true for you then deposit box is the way to go.

You could be right. I'm going off of the assumption that they ARE hoarding Gold because it's tactically safer to assume they have gold than it is to assume they don't. Assuming this photo of former Mint director Edmund Moy in the West point mint's Gold deposit is the absolute extent of the US's gold supply (nothing out of frame, no gold from seizures, this is all they have) that's still a pretty good amount to pay off soldiers with. It's worth noting that a gold standard would play right into the hands of the private central banksters again. There might be a way around that.

>Written in a constitution, a precious metals standard where monarchs and governments are prohibited from lending, borrowing and issuing bailouts. Only a public individual can take on debt equal to that of 2,000 hours of labor, no more until the debt is paid.

The trick is to be aware that your individualism is being used against us. The Koch brothers were huge proponents of libertarianism because those who take up that ethos never demand anything from the government. And view their non participation as a solution to problems.
The simple fact is that all Americans need to become far more socially conscious and pursue policies that promote positive, pro-social outcomes for ourselves and our people. It doesn't matter if you have to trample one persons individual rights if you can better the entire society.
The simple truth is government needs to take over finance and it needs to be a public utility and not a private affair. It needs to be audited and the benefits of creating money need to benefit us all and not just the private ownership class.

Having a gold standard does creates problems by not having enough liquid method of exchange for the economy. If you horde all the gold you create a standstill in the economy. That's why a gold standard is shit, period. What you want is a precious metals standard because if there's a shortage of gold or silver, another metal can take its place. This prevents private central banks from creating monopolies over a method of exchange, which is the crux of their power. There are so many metals in the world's crust alone that it would be impossible to private central bank to privatize them. I mean sand for fuck sake has the silicon metal in it.

The gold standard works fine if you don't have the top .01% super elite trying to fuck everything up and start wars.
Also, as the National Socialists have shown, there is nothing wrong with issuing currency backed by productive work. If you can eliminate the purchasing power of the owning class and the parasite classes then you can become far wealthier than any other means of operating a national economy.
We only produce X amount of materials, labor and production every year. Limiting how much of that people can steal and maximizing that value (creating products that endure and last and are not meant to break or become obsolete etc).
This will all be so much easier once we eliminate the debt from the global economy. The economy is so shitty because it is built on exponential functions. It's not even that complicated of a fix we just need to destroy what already is in place.

That's why I presented it as an amendment in a constitution. We can all agree that a metal is the best storage of energy/labor and no doubt there will be a list of precious metals that humans will hoard. It would be gold, platinum, silver, copper, nickel and whatever comes below it. The different elements would in effect be no different than the different denominations of a fiat currency.

>The gold standard works fine if you don't have the top .01% super elite trying to fuck everything up and start wars.

The gold standard isn't liquid enough on an ever fluctuating economy. That's why a precious metals standard would be better. I have absolutely no idea why you're opposing this.

Maybe once we confiscate the bankers and have them all hanged for crimes against humanity we can revisit it. I think we need to keep our options open and not get boxed in rhetorically. Taking a page from the national socialists, the colonial scrip, and the greenback are all perfect examples of how we can operate a monetary system without a commodity that we don't own and haven't audited in hundreds of years. I'm not really fighting either, just want to put more ideas on the table.
>>53149027
Valid concern. I think we need a vetting system to ensure that only WE control our government and we can never allow a hostile foreign entity to take over as the banks have done and attempted to do to America since our founding.

These ceramics have uranium glaze. They will send a Geiger counter into orbit. But remember that with radiation, as with toxic chemicals, the poison is in the dose. And the dose you will get from being around natural uranium is very small, the inverse square law being what it is. I would not want to inhale very much uranium dust. Other than that, no worries from radiation. More worries from chemical heavy metal toxicity.

I envy you lads who are able to be comfortable with gold and silver. I am sexually attracted to euro bills. Even as an American, I hate our cash we have, but I do collect euros. I just like the feeling of flipping the bills and hearing them. I tell myself "it's not worth getting PMs because when shit hits the fan, realistically I won't find a place to take them because if shit really does get bad, nobody will run to check their metals. Hunger is a problem, dehydration is a problem, medication is a must, safety through defense is a must, I just can't pull through with it. I'm not even rich anyway and live paycheck to paycheck, so I doubt the scroungings I have saved are worth converting. It's just not logical for me, but nice collection lads.

They could absolutely stretch it.
Don't be one of those niggers. The only way you'd accept that there was gold is if you showed up to Kentucky and assayed the stuff yourself and then every other "muhh PMs of da USA are gune" mouth breather would also need to assay the metals himself to believe it.
Seriously FFS with this BS.
