makes no difference in a bear market. or maybe you think it's useful that they pay you out and you DRIP invest so that's useful. well since the stock goes down the same amount of the dividend paid out it's 100% a wash. doesn't matter. dividends were probably useful back when it costs $50 a trade and you had to call your broker, and this was a way to get some money back to the investor. however now with $0 transaction fees it's pointless, and often times detrimental due to the tax event.

Lol, divvies can make all the difference in a bear market. Where etf's and growths were crashing divvies did just fine since they're stable. If you picked wisely you can easily make a gain for the year and cash out. Drip is useless imo, invest your own divvies I say. Dividends can matter. So can buybacks. It's not a surface level fundamental change, obviously every dividend is technically just shifting cash from the company back to the investor, but there is a subtle impact.
By consistently returning capital, a company make themselves more attractive to investors. The valuations will tend to increase, and this effectively reduces their cost of capital. A higher stock valuation makes it easier to implement mergers or buyouts, using their own overvalued "safe" stock as a currency. They can re-invest in themselves as well, or offer SBC which produces cheap growth relative to their valuation.

There are plenty of scammy management teams out there that'll dilute their shareholders despite trading at a clear discount to earnings/NAV, thus triggering holders to bail reducing valuation further and further in a cycle. Quality companies see the opposite effect. Pretty intuitive, right? In the end, it's all bullshit playing on investor sentiment, but over time it can drive real returns.

A big flaw in chasing dividends is that they can be abused. Since some investors prioritize yield, companies with high divvies may appear attractive to them, but if the dividend is unsustainable then eventually cuts happen and the stock collapses. No one wants taxable dividends while bagholding an unrealized loss.
I tend to like buybacks better for this reason, as they create a long term uptrend more visible in charts and in investors' own unrealized P/L. However, plenty of companies out there also abuse investors' faith in buybacks to repurchase their companies at stupid multiples, only for management to cash out their own shares and then pause the buyback once a downturn happens. Insider incentives are important.
In the end, the key factor is faith. Companies that create a lot of faith and goodwill will often continue to perform well into the future, and their momentum will produce further momentum.

Texas is quite possibly the worst single state in the union.
There is no dollar amount big enough to make living in that statist tax cattle shithole palatable.
All the negatives of high tax blue states, with the added bonus of worshiping false idols in the form of state government & evangelist. If the antichrist was a state, it'd be texas.

No, this time is different. We are already passed a recession. It was a soft landing. High rates are now priced in. Everyone knows it’s QE forever just for now it’s coming directly from the government in the form of exorbitant spending. The risk is to the upside; we saw the generational lows last year and after the consolidation we have been in for a few weeks now ends it will end with the S&P rocketing higher at a shocking rate straight past 4000 and never ever trade these levels again. Better be loading up now cause we will be making new highs by EOY with SPX 5000

The FED wont pivot because retail hasnt panicked.

The cycle does like this

You buy high. The big boys sell. The price collapses and the big boys buy everything up pennies on the dollar.

None of that has happened. Retail is literally putting its fingers in their ears and not selling and the fed is starting to get angry and actually talk markets down

>> No.53138262

Kek, I dunno what's funnier; the lawyer who files the lawsuit knowing it's a sham or the people who actually think after all this time they'll get anything for the trouble of filing it. Story - Back in 1968 Paramount released a film Romeo and Juliet. Leads in the film were underage. The director made them do nude scenes. These made it into the final cut. Keep in mind this was in 1968. Fast forward to now; Leads are old fucks. They file lawsuit. Claims it "hurt them". In case anyone forgets; this happened in 1968. (I torrented a copy of the film; yeah they'll pull it outta print or rework it be my guess over the backlash maybe)

its not. Hence the yield curve inversion... 2y is feds rate at 4.37 30 year is at 3.81. If it was "calling bullshit" the 2 year would have come down by now. It believes Jerome. Back end of the curve knows recession is coming so it prices down. Historically recessions = rate cuts, but when it doesn't happen (like now) you get curve inversions.

The initial bond crash was 100% “efficient”, as in pricing in 500 bps of hikes in one year, as well as a jump in inflation expectations out of nowhere.

The recent rise in bonds has nothing to do with the initial crash. Rates are done. Forget about hen, they’re a 2022 story. Bonds are moving to growth expectations. Even the inflation story will be over soon. Bonds DO rise during recessions, they simply had to find a fair yield for the current level of inflation

It is sad when you realize the lies you were taught as a child. I used to think the US Government had the best and brightest people who loved America and were looking out for us. It is a strange disconnect to realize that those running things hate America and hate everything we were supposed to be.
