AAPL is one of the best stocks to day trade. Little tip that works for me, along with whatever other backtested system you use for short term trading, look for spikes on VXAPL (the VIX but literally just for Apple shares) and when it makes a nice pump out of nowhere like yesterday whilst AAPL dumps below recent lows that's when you can go in for a quick easy flip

It's just easy to profitably day trade. Predictable price action, lots of fanboys (including hedge funds and institutional buyers eager to slurp), massive liquidity, easy to get a read on implied volatility using VXAPL so you can just glance at the chart to see if AAPL holders are in a panic, massively profitable business that isn't going anywhere. I have a few others like UNH, CBOE, XOM, etc. also boomer stocks, also easy price action. Like Buffett says, don't try to pole vault when you can just step over the 1 foot high bars in trading. >how exactly is the VXAPL related at all?
VXAPL uses the VIX white paper formula to average out the intrinsic value of 30 day calls and puts on AAPL. VXAPL spikes when there's panic selling of AAPL shares and since panic tends to get irrational that should be a necessary part of your prerequisite (along with other things) to buy. Most stocks don't have their own custom VIX, GOOG, AMZN, IBM, GS, and AAPL do as far as I know and of those I find AAPL the most predictable price action
>>53131688
>what do you mean by price action?
Price action is just how the price moves. People's opinions tend to differ on what is significant. I'm a contrarian trader when it comes to Apple so I like breakouts on VXAPL accompanied by breakdowns on the AAPL share price. Part of the fun for me is to only buy when people are scared so I have to see sharp increases in implied volatility or I can't get excited about the stock. It's just what does it for me. I like the idea of buying cheapies from capitulating bag holders then selling it all back to them later at a premium. Buy capitulation and sell into FOMO

Because it's bottoming here. I don't give a shit about your favorite technical bullshit, but if you look at the trend macd clearly shows the same. You sell puts at the bottom. They expire worthless. You make money.

The beauty of BTU is that its so shit against such a bullish macro backdrop for coal that it can't possibly fail worse than expectations.
The asymmetry is towards the upside, but due to the nature of options calls/puts will always have equivalent pricing because a covered call is identical to a short put. You can profit off this asymmetry.
I sell a pretty consistent quantity of puts every month or two when BTU dumps, and at this point BTU could hypothetically crash to zero and I'd still have made money cumulatively between the trades. It won't though. They're already sitting on $10 of cash and they earn another $3 every quarter.

Oil is dumping because the trade is over and no one wants to baghold.
Everyone with large gains on their oil stocks from last year (or 2021) was holding out until January to dump so they could delay the tax bill on their gains for another 12 months.
The selloff spiraled because no one wants to buy in here with momentum negative. None of those sellers are coming back either - you don't realize a huge gain just to re-enter the same position.

If China demand picks up, or Russian supply craters, or SPR repurchases actually happen (they won't), then we could see a bullish oil picture, but any of that will take a few months to develop.
In the meantime, it'll continue to crab at these levels that technically still profitable, but not quite enough to excite anyone.

However, I assume this only to be a "sphere of influence" of a small fraction of the whole Oil spectrum.
Hence why I don't know why the rest of the spectrum is content with prices this low.
Adjusted by any inflationary metric, they are pretty much giving oil away for free at the moment.
Cost of production, refinement and each step along the way of the supply chain has seen rampant inflation over the past years, yet Oil prices remain low to lower.
Again, it feels like they all of a sudden are willing to give it away for free.
I'm starting to question the profitability of it all.

I might be off entirely, of course, but I can't shake that feeling.

Also, I guess that it's only a matter of time until we see an escalation in the Russia/Nato/Ukraine "meme conflict" if Oil prices refuse to rise significantly (to $100 or above, at least)
Else TPTB feel threatened that their green agendas and agendas of less consumption throughout the western world are threatened by sheer market forces of "literal free oil" and we all know that TPTB hate nothing more than the people having nice things.

Can't believe the market's looking past this bearish paragraph:
>"COLLAPSING CENTRAL BANKS could be here" he thought, "I've never been in this NFCI range before. There could be COLLAPSING CENTRAL BANKS anywhere." The cool wind felt good against his bare chest. "I HATE COLLAPSING CENTRAL BANKS" he thought. Komm Susser Tod reverberated his entire car, making it pulsate even as the $900,000 wine circulated through his powerful thick veins and washed away his (merited) fear of illiquidity in the Eurodollar system. "With a swap line, you can go anywhere you want" he said to himself, out loud.

The bonds and rates traders involved with those markets tend to be a bit smarter than your average retail YOLOer.

There's also the Fed actually slowing their pace from 75 to 50, as well as their newfound jawboning about "rate hikes work with a lag" and being close to their stated "FFR > entire yield curve" restrictive stance. Throw in the new, more dovish voting roster for this year and, baby, you got a stew going.
