Covid crash was obviously an anomaly. Buying the 200 week EMA is the move for a bounce generally and that would have worked there very well. Into a rising rate environment and bear market / recession though buying that average may be good for a quick short cover / bounce trade but the market never, ever, eeeeeever has bottomed until a month or three after the 50 crosses the 200.

Now you could be betting that this unprecedented stretch of time where the 50 hasn’t crossed the 200 continues. And you may be right. But we have been in the longest stretch of aforementioned time period in all of recorded history by years now in for any market ever traded. all things considered I’m betting that streak is about to end.

One thing if for absolute certain. The SPX trades 3700 this month. Quite possibly this week. Maybe even tomorrow. Does it go much below? How high is the bounce? When does it drop back below? We shall find out the answer to these questions and more together, in time.
