lets assume the 4030 calls expire worthless - that leaves us with a buy 3600p + sell 3040p PUT spread

put spreads hit max payoff when the lower strike price hits ITM by expiration. so max payout for JPM would be SP500 @ 3039

they would profit +600% on the put spread + keeping all of the premium from the sold calls expiring worthless. this would represent about a -20% drop in the SP500 from here

ok i re-did the trade structure including the 4030 calls they sold. these are using the closest strike prices I could get using SPY. JPM is using actual Index Options, so its a little different but should be within 5% or less of their actual payouts

-20% is a pretty big hedge. the calls they sold are only @ 4030... that represents only a +6% upside for the SP500 which is at 3800 currently. this means the JPM traders are seeing LESS than +6% upside for the SP500, and their hedge starts to make money below 3600, and REALLY starts to make money the further below 3600 the SP500 drops, with a max payout if SP500 is under 3040 by 3/31

JPM stands to lose a theoretical infinite amount of money if SP500 goes above 4030 and keeps going by 3/31

JPM breaks even @ SP500 - ~3588 or a -6% pullback by 3/31

JPM hits max payout of +7000% gains if SPY goes below 3040 by 3/31

JPM loses -100% of their money in the trade if the SP500 crabs between 3600 - 4030 by 3/31

conclusion: JPM traders of this fund are seeing less than 6% upside, and as much as -20% downside in the SP500 by 3/31, and they only make money if SP500 drops more than 6% by 3/31, or else they lose all their money in this hedge
