Pay attention /smg/
This is extremely important information I am sharing with you, that we should discuss in depth all together - possibly the most important piece of information you will receive today
This is the new collar that JPM put on Friday
>Buy 3,600p - 41,600 contracts @ $87.83 3/31
>Sell 3,040p - 41,600 contracts @ $12.45 3/31
>Sell 4,030c - 41,600 contracts @ $79.77 3/31
there is a very hard ceiling on the market rally
SPX cannot pass 4030 by 3/31 or JP Morgan would lose a fuck ton of money
I ask you, what is more likely
JP Morgan loses a fuck ton of money
or SPX doesn't rally past 4030
I'll give you a hint..
How does JPM make money on this trade?
>SPX doesn’t cross 4030
>SPX closes the quarter 3/31 below 3600 but above 3040
>every tick below 3600 this quarter = JPM long puts profiting
>their 4030 calls they sold expire worthless
>their 3600 puts they bought expire ITM
>as long as we don’t fall below 3040
What happens next /smg/???
You tell me
>SPX currently: 3810

this looks like some sort of put spread:

lets assume the 4030 calls expire worthless - that leaves us with a buy 3600p + sell 3040p PUT spread

put spreads hit max payoff when the lower strike price hits ITM by expiration. so max payout for JPM would be SP500 @ 3039

they would profit +600% on the put spread + keeping all of the premium from the sold calls expiring worthless. this would represent about a -20% drop in the SP500 from here

What’s even more interesting about Tesla is that Elon has consistently been selling for the last couple years. He always says he won’t sell anymore, promises, but then ends up selling again. It’s interesting how people will continue to believe in something or someone despite all the evidence and actions pointing to an opposite state of being. We as humans are so incredibly foolish.

It looks like most of my most-hated stocks (ex-Tesla) were moving up into year end, contrary to the market trend. This supports my case for an upcoming catastrophic market wipeout day, in my opinion, because the trend fighting the wipeout seems to favor my most-hated sector. One might short DB, BA, and META assuming an impending reversion to the market trend since these Q4 divergences pumped on no fundamentals. Likely the reversion was deferred into the new year.

Dogshit. All foreign market ETFs have the same problems:
>liquidation risk (see RSX for recent example)
>generic index tracking that prioritizes shitty foreign banks and conglomerates.
>massive front-running of any index updates
Most also have stupidly high fees, despite being completely passive. At least Vanguard keeps the fees fair.

If you look at the contents, a major risk is China/Taiwan conflict. I'm not saying that's likely, but if it were to happen you'd be much better off holding Alibaba and such independently in your own account via the hong kong listings.

>Deflation leads to a depression
I feel like I should understand this but perhaps I'm dumber than I thought. As far as I understand it, deflation is bad in the macroeconomic sense because it means that the velocity of money will go down and in some cases won't be available as investment when needed (in the classic sense of "investment" i.e. an entrepreneur wants to start a business but needs the capital to buy machinery). So is that why it would have caused a depression?

Oh wow, I noticed that TSLA missed their delivery estimates by a pretty wide margin, in terms of like tens of thousands of cars. At a certain point, everyone was expecting this tho? We all knew TSLA / Elon used to always cook the numbers to pump stock in tandem with softbank jap gamma squeezes.

I'm just surprised at how many discretionary investors sold today on the news.

Maybe i shouldn't be surprised, this has been coming for a long time and even homeless men behind dumpsters with wifi used to buy TSLA stock on their robinhoods

What is insane is the sheer notional USD $ amount that got sold off on a single name today. Today has to have broken some records

ok i re-did the trade structure including the 4030 calls they sold. these are using the closest strike prices I could get using SPY. JPM is using actual Index Options, so its a little different but should be within 5% or less of their actual payouts

-20% is a pretty big hedge. the calls they sold are only @ 4030... that represents only a +6% upside for the SP500 which is at 3800 currently. this means the JPM traders are seeing LESS than +6% upside for the SP500, and their hedge starts to make money below 3600, and REALLY starts to make money the further below 3600 the SP500 drops, with a max payout if SP500 is under 3040 by 3/31

JPM stands to lose a theoretical infinite amount of money if SP500 goes above 4030 and keeps going by 3/31

JPM breaks even @ SP500 - ~3588 or a -6% pullback by 3/31

JPM hits max payout of +7000% gains if SPY goes below 3040 by 3/31

JPM loses -100% of their money in the trade if the SP500 crabs between 3600 - 4030 by 3/31

conclusion: JPM traders of this fund are seeing less than 6% upside, and as much as -20% downside in the SP500 by 3/31, and they only make money if SP500 drops more than 6% by 3/31, or else they lose all their money in this hedge

I don't know if the tens of billions of dollars that got sold off today were merely on buyback speculations, but youre right that it signals end of expansion / growth phase.

TSLA was at one point in the expansion phase, they needed all the capital they can get in order to sustain growth.

Stock buybacks usually occur when a business reaches maturity, which is hilariously not the case here because they can't remain stable without ZEV credits and massive institutional money.

Well, when NatGas holdings are "collateralized" or traded on margin and then the price goes down a lot, one expects that collateral will have to be increased to avoid liquidations. Often times (sometimes?) this entails forced equity sales. Therefore, one defines a fundamental reason, loosely, for equity plunges to trail NatGas plunges, even if NatGas only goes down due to the weather.

Ford sell ~6mil cars a year in the US, tesla sell ~200k. Tsla at height worth over 1tril and ford at height only 100bil. Obviously this was down to future predicted value with ev tech and regulation, but other automakers have proven that they're able to produce equivalent cars at scale within 5 years, so tesla has lost it's edge.

You're wrong about apple. They still hold absolutely massive (70%) market share in US and that shows no signs of changing - what's more, they're really only just getting off the ground in terms of delivering their own ARM chips.

That is not one I get excited about seeing. Louisiana is the best (with its psychedelic chilis and mind-altering water, salt, and vinegar, if you get that reference from 2011.) Frank's is also very good.

Should I max out all my credit cards and buy put spreads on the SPY?

I would convert the credit to cash buy buying gold at a coin store and then selling the gold back to them.
