Because I'm a hack. Not hacker, hack. I quit in the middle of my degree and can't afford to go back now. I can create software, I even make games, but I don't know a thing about professional design patterns or best practices, and basically, I'm unhireable.

I do think software is cool as fuck though. All the senior devs I met were just really down to earth guys. Unfortunately I can't get anyone to give me a chance due to lack of experience and the complete education required, and I don't really blame them, it just is what it is you know?

My pencil doesn't work unless I update to the latest version that enables me to customise the colour of the lead (this feature wasn't available at launch). My electric toothbrush doesn't work because it's not connected to the internet so it can't track when I brush my teeth and how frequent I do it. My door doesn't open at certain times of the week because the manufacturer keeps deploying the latest version to improve security and the database holding the biometric data and passcodes are inaccessible during downtime.

Game design has got to be one of the worst most cutthroat specializations within the industry.
There's a disconnect between your goals (that part I am assuming) and where you are currently.
