Not only it is still the second most used crypto on Bitpay.
But it has skyrocketed from 14.78% usage in November 2021 to 27.64% this month.
Its usage as skyrocketed in just one year, that's insane, how come this is not making headlines.

Why litecoin of all lol, it's a copy of the bitcoin code. Lee just altered block time and hashing algorithm. What am I missing in terms of innovation?

>> No.53098120

>>53097976
I got 12 BTC too so this is not my main bag, but the fact that it has faster transactions + Charlie Lee has been willing to increase block size on LTC (while he advocated against increasing it on bitcoin) was a great marketing ploy on his side. Bitcoin was sabotaged by Blackrock and it's practically unusable even with Lightning network. LTC has been going on for 11 years and it is a safe choice that many people don't see because they fall for shitcoins that get shilled on twitter.

If BTC reaches ATH -> You get 3x-4x
If LTC reaches ATH -> You get 8x-9x

Simple as that

>> No.53098197

>>53098120
How was Bitcoin sabotaged? Sure, Litecoin has been going on over a decade, but why wouldn't it when it's a copy of the Bitcoin codebase? Maybe Litecoin has more room for growth in terms of dollars, but at the end of the day what matters is sats, no? Why isn't Bitcoin unsuable? Fees are near record low: https://ycharts.com/indicators/bitcoin_average_transaction_fee#:~:text=Bitcoin%20Average%20Transaction%20Fee%20is,73.61%25%20from%20one%20year%20ago.

>> No.53098272

>>53098120
Also, why not Monero? At least it does something different in the privacy aspect and tail emissions.

>> No.53098327

LTC is merge mined with Doge, which more than covers tail emissions for miners.

>> No.53098401

>>53098197
Fees being low doesn't matter in the long run, try paying for coffee with Bitcoin, try buying groceries, try buying something online
If you're lucky the transaction gets confirmed in 10-20 minutes, if it's a busy day good luck waiting for hours
Blackrock is the company behind all of this. Search up Satoshi archives and he himself said that with time the block sizes will be increased to handle transactions better. Why hasn't this happened ? Again,,, blackrock.

> but Monero
It has infinite supply so that is out of the equation, good if you want to do something shady and take them money out immediately, but not a good idea to hold it

I don't see Litecoin replacing Bitcoin but it has followed BTC's trend for 11 years and it works better than Bitcoin so when new ATH comes better gains will be expected from LTC.

Chainlink, ICP, ETH and any shitcoin you see on twitter will eventually die out... just like many coins have died out before. Google top cryptos in 2016 and see how many are around today, each coin had a team behind it and a "vision".
LTC will be here and will bring you 10x within 1-2 years

Just to be clear, it was Doge which was merge mined into LTC due the security concern over a 51% attack on Doge since it has become a dead coin at the time (pre-Elon revival).
By the way since Elon has lost 150 billions $ he will tempted to bailout his companies by selling his giga bags of Doge and everyone knows he will do it if it has to come to this.
There is a huge unassessed risk of elon rug pulling Doge holder this year but they are not seeing it.

I know the quote you are referring to. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=287.msg8810#msg8810
>It would be nice to keep the blk*.dat files small as long as we can.

>The eventual solution will be to not care how big it gets.

>But for now, while it's still small, it's nice to keep it small so new users can get going faster. When I eventually implement client-only mode, that won't matter much anymore.

So Satoshi said many things. In the same post, he acknowledges that SPV clients should be the norm (eg. Electrum). He adds:

>At first, most users would run network nodes, but as the network grows beyond a certain point, it would be left more and more to specialists with server farms of specialized hardware. A server farm would only need to have one node on the network and the rest of the LAN connects with that one node.
https://satoshi.nakamotoinstitute.org/emails/cryptography/2/#selection-81.321-81.620

Satoshi seemed fine with the idea of leaving nodes into the hands of server farms/large entities, instead of individuals. Not sure that's good in terms of decentralization.

On Monero: the supply may be in theory infinite, but the rate of inflation tends to zero. It's one way to avoid the diminishing rewards dilemma.

I'll have to watch the Blackrock video, will reply later today,
>>53098413
I thought Doge was picked to give Litecoin a boost in hashrate given that block rewards are diminishing rapidly.

I don't know how we can prove these suspicions. A bunch of Bitcoin Core maintainers founded Blockstream and were funded by VC money (BlackRock, Toys R Us, the Mormons, etc. doesn't matter). Is it legitimate to have expected them to work for free?

Now how did Blockstream monetize Bitcoin to pay back their investors? By building sidechain technology (eg. Liquid).

https://blockstream.com/liquid/

So far, has Blockstream made foul play? I don't see how. Satoshi himself envisioned sidechains.

"The incentive is to get the rewards from the extra side chains also for the same work.

While you are generating bitcoins, why not also get free domain names for the same work?"
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1790.msg28715#msg28715
He is referring to BitDNS here.

He adds:
"The networks need to have separate fates. BitDNS users might be completely liberal about adding any large data features since relatively few domain registrars are needed, while Bitcoin users might get increasingly tyrannical about limiting the size of the chain so it's easy for lots of users and small devices."
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1790.msg28917#msg28917

So not only he foretold the future, but I'm assuming he suggests merge-mining as a solution to keeping the block size small?

It was all about saving Doge from a 51% attack, the bonus reward came only after Doge made a comeback thanks to Elon pump.
