Late stage capitalism is a meme. It's commies and anarchists trying to speak the end into existence like teenage girls trying to summon Bloody Mary at a sleepover. What you'll eventually get is Capitalism in a transition period into whatever inevitably comes next over a period of several hundred years, much like the transition from Feudalism to Capitalism, in which the Gentry either adopted Bourgeois ways or was displaced by them (usually a bit of both). We have at least a hundred years before Capitalism starts to shift to the next thing in a measurable way.

Late stage capitalism is word centric people belief.
1. You have no idea what technologies are possible. Marx didn't predict internet, AI etc and was so stupid he thought humanity was near the peak of technology.

2. It implies there are a limited number of solutions. Such as the entire space being communism or capitalism when there are virtually infinite constructs. It shuts off better systems from existing - hence everyone is forced into a capitalism - communism paradigm.

3. The people don't think through how a communist government or system works in practice. It has obvious huge problems in practice like relying on perfect behavior from government with no actual checks or limits on behavior

4. It doesn't care about long term prosperity. Many heavily socialized systems seem amazing at the time but fail to match capitalist countries growth in GDP and technology or rely on foreign innovation they adapt

The way how i see it personally is simpler.

People keep treating the problems we face as something systemic and not physical, as if you can change everything only when you change the way we interact with each others. It's a lie.

If i work for almost free like a slave i am extremely efficient unlike someone else doing the same job for higher compensation, maybe i am actually a slave for someone else or maybe i just want to outcompete the guy with a salary, but i get interesting results by being a slave myself regardless of the system we live in, under the right circumstances i am incetivized to be a slave.
Communism can't last because it panders too much in front of the needs of every sub-system forming it and this makes it weak.
