I didn't defend them. What I said though is unequivocally true. What's theirs is theirs to do with as they wish. You (not you personally, you editorially) don't have a right to their property just because you were born. Is burning through everything and leaving your children nothing an absolutely shit way to behave? Certainly. Why do we do the things we do, strive to amass anything of note if not for our children? I honestly can't think of any more noble thing. That's me though. If someone does in fact intend to spend it all before going to the grave, that's their prerogative. It's theirs.

I don't know why we're being raided with attempts to sow discord between silver and gold stackers. Practically every regular stacker here stacks both and know that both silver and gold are complementary to one another. >In Latin, what does "Cum Gladio et argento" mean?
>"Cum gladio et argento" is a Latin phrase that means "with sword and silver." It is likely a metaphor for being well-equipped or prepared for something, as the sword and silver could represent weapons or other tools that one might need in a given situation. The phrase is often used in literature and art as a symbol of readiness or preparedness.
>In Latin, what does "Scutum Contra Angues Imperius" mean?
>"Scutum contra angues imperius" is a Latin phrase that means "shield against commanding snakes." It is likely a metaphor for protection or defense against something that is perceived as dangerous or threatening. The phrase could be used to describe a person or a group that is equipped or prepared to defend against a particular threat, or it could be used more generally to refer to any kind of protective measure. It is possible that the phrase has been used in literature or art to symbolize the idea of protection or defense.
But the problem is I still have no way of verifying it's accuracy

The unfunded liabilities of pensions and healthcare were a persistent squeeze on the financial system to force them into taking on more leverage and risk to pursue the growth necessary to stay afloat.
Banks didn't want to do this. This is similar to a "deltaP" situation in finance, to where we slipped down the exponential slope to financial ruin.

The Chinese "opium" war was actually about a silver shortage. China was a silver nation when that happened and the mines were running dry, so the Brits tried to pay for tea with opium instead of silver and it pissed them off.

Put simply, it's a shell game and if everyone holding paper silver wanted to collect the COMEX wouldn't have the physical to cover it. JP Morgan has been injecting the vaults with physical, but not nearly fast enough to meet demand, nor is there enough silver mined to meet the demand. It's all a (((trick))).

Again, I'm not talking about SLV futures. I know there are contracts for 500x as much silver as exists in the vaults. But that's on top of what is in the vaults. Registered + eligible is the physical silver that is really supposed to exist at COMEX. Now when a lot of silver moves out of registered and into eligible it looks like most silver isn't actually leaving anywhere. Or the opposite, that the silver in eligible is fresh stock from elsewhere. But then where is it from?

It's just accounting tricks. JP Morgan shuffles some numbers, the COMEX shuffles some numbers. At this point I doubt any physical silver is being transferred at all. Just numbers on a screen. During the Cold War, PMs weren't money outside of the West, the Soviets, Chinese had been off the Gold Standard for decades before 1971.
It wouldn't surprise me if we end up with a lot of countries simply not using PMs with no convertability between their currencies and those of countries that use PMs given that we've already had a similar situation in the past.

My copypasta answer responds with, "Here are some options to consider" so you can decide for yourself.
- When a new series of artful or themed bullion (especially coins) is issued, the first of the series are usually missed by later collectors. They will pay high premiums to fill in the series. Consider the potential for series' popularity: generic and/or cringeworthy-themed series are less likely to appreciate above spot.
- Low-mintage series are often priced very high, but may increase in price the most (consider design popularity!).
- Gov't-issued coins cost least while minted. Once the mintage stops and dealers run out of stock, the prices jump then rise more slowly but still faster than generic silver. Maples, Eagles, Wieners, Britannias, etc. are all nice but boring. The mint may add a privy to add novelty thereby ginning up the price. Stuff that changes overall designs from year to year become series (Somali elephants, Canadian Wildlife, Australian kookaburras or koalas, island nations' series, etc.).
- If you buy pieces that appeal to your sense of art, taste, and interests, you will still appreciate them even if the price or value of the PM goes nowhere. Caveat: if you go to sell, it's harder to part with them.
- Some beautiful generics are priced comically high (Germanias, GSM special editions, e.g.) - they don't follow the market trends as readily, garnering peak price only while fashionable. Be aware: dealers may categorize and price these as "generic" (meaning below spot) when buying them from you. Or the gamble might pay off as they become very popular (Englehard, PAMP, antique miners/refiners, e.g.).
- For new generic bars, watch the markups over spot: premiums (added charges) go up for smaller pieces.
- Shipping is an added premium. Many vendors offer free shipping for purchasing a minimum amount (commonly $200).
- Keeping a spreadsheet of your purchases to track profit/loss is quite revealing and will help you make future decisions.

Officially, yes. Countries like the USSR and China that had virtually NO foreign trade back then could use their own shit currency domestically. But in both countries the gold-backed USD ruled the black market. Also worth noting that when the USSR had to buy wheat from Canada to keep its people from starving to death because of the massive failure of state-run agriculture, they had to pay with GOLD.

So any country that wants to trade internationally will have no choice but to use a gold currency - either their own issue if they have the resources - or somebody else's.

I'm a bit on the fence when it comes to platinum tbqh - it's kinda like gold but, in my opinion, uglier, less liquid and gets significantly worse treatment tax-wise (where I live it's not VAT- or CGT-free unlike gold). I'm keeping an eye out for deals just to get some, but so far I can't find it anywhere close to spot.

>therefore, weight
>removing dirt also removes the weight of the dirt
>clean silver is thus lighter
>less weight when weighed by a dealer, meaning less money when selling
>therefore, the best course of action is cake 90% silver in subtle bits of dirt so it's slightly heavier on scales and earns more money

No. Literally millions of the common coins you find in junk bags were minted. NOBODY will every collect them. That is exactly why the experts call it junk. Nobody cares if they are cleaned. In fact, if anything, people will be happier with shiny junk than coins will peasant filth on them. Clean your junk silver.

Better yet, go to the coin shop and ask to see their junk silver. Then ask them if they will give you a discount on any that have been cleaned. The answer will be "no" because junk silver is just bullion, not numismatic.

"Junk silver" is a term in the trade that has a meaning. It means a professional has determined that it has NO numismatic value. Therefore, its value is entirely based on its bullion weight. Nobody cares if their JUNK silver has been cleaned.

This is the correct answer.
Also it does not really matter how thin and worn they are. A tube of dimes is a tube of dimes.

Platinum is equally a store of value just as much as any money metal. If pent-up demand comes flowing into commodities, everything is going to be revalued and the tiny market cap of platinum could be explosive.

Really? The last time I was buying a roll of dimes from my LCS the dealer noticed that there were a couple slicks and cleaned coins in the roll and asked me if I wanted to switch them out for better coins. I ended up keeping them since I didn't want to inconvenience the dealer, but he gave me a weird look when I declined.

A huge part of the market for junk Silver is people who use it to fill out albums or hunt it for varieties. Collectors don't want cleaned coins and grading companies won't even give cleaned coins proper grades.

Get empty tubes and avoid getting numis. Maybe 1 numis per 25 generic/generic coin. Silver really takes up space so avoid capsules for the most part. 10oz bars are your friend, and avoid getting a sigma until your total usd value is appoaches 30k or more

Its fine. You dont necessarily need the word cum since gladio and argento are in the ablative

>In Latin grammar, the ablative case (cāsus ablātīvus) includes functions derived from the Indo-European ablative, instrumental, comitative, associative and locative cases; these cases express concepts similar to those of the English prepositions "of"/"from", "by", "with", "to"/"with", and "at"/"in", respectively. Here/hence/hither, there/thence/thither, and where/whence/whither

But I say keep keep it because this is 4chan and the word is cum plus havent it isnt technically wrong. Latin is actually a pretty flexiblw language witj even the word order changing depending on the writer.

You could also write ferro et argento as the latin word for iron ferrum also meant sword.

If you went cum ferro et argento you noe have a double meaning.

"With Iron and Silver" or "With Sword and Silver."

Just roll with whatever you think is cool but what you have is perfectly fine
