XRP isn't backed by anything, that is my point, none of the current popular cryptos are. A gold backed crypto would make sense as it would allow people to easily store their wealth in gold and use it to transact as money.
>>53066030
Industrial commodities haven't even crashed yet, look at the price charts. If a serious recession kicks in, which I believe in, they are going much lower. So I would wait until then, maybe 6 months or so. But personally I don't think we are bouncing back from this one, so I'm more comfortable with gold long term.

It's value is determined by it's marginal improvement over existing methods of trading money or actual commodities.

I would not try to say it's money. That's why I said it's a commodity.

Saw a very good take on crypto: it has on value and because it has no intrinsic value, it's about the perfect instrument for swing trading. Not really worth holding long term (though I'd be happy with 1-2% portfolio exposure)

There are gold backed cryptos already up and running. I don't follow them closely but I saw an interview with a creator once and I believe they did have a system in place for people to have physical gold sent to them, and a system to proof their physical holdings.
Clearly the trust factor is a big deal and it will take some time for these gold backed cryptos to gain peoples trust and work out the best ways of doing things. But the concept I think has great potential.

Guys, I have been playing alot of factorio lately.
It has strengthened my resolve in commodities since the simple fact is just like in factorio if a key commodity is in short supply and that commodity is not substitute-able than the entire supply chain crumbles and whilst there is no market function in factorio (since there is only a single economic participant the player) If a commodity goes up in price all it means is that it has become more valuable to economic participants and if you are short on coal or copper in factorio getting MORE of those resources becomes of higher priority to the player.

Therefore it's incredibly elastic until it's been broadly accepted, which is what I assume you and everyone else are hoping to achieve. Just like Bitcoin and silverbugs. Basically since fiat is in death throws everyone wants a chair to sit in before the music stops.
You want a new chair, a digital chair, an unproven chair, a cheap chair that's somehow more reliable than the ancient chairs that still exist after 6k years or more.

No I actually want a hybrid because technology that is useful should be used.
I have lots of silver and hard assets. I have real estate and farm land as well.

The entire point of XRP is international settlement. It saves a FUCKING LOT of money to use in this manner.
Price will bounce around but you can literally use it right now for what I'm talking about if only the US would leave it alone.
I could literally pay my people in Taiwan right now with it if I didn't think I'd get tagged for some tax BS ahead of some sort of clarity.

It's kinda beyond me how so many people miss the actual utility of some digital assets.
Imagine owning a portion of Microsoft excel.
Now, speculating it gets that big of course, but it's that type of game changer. The technology is anyway, the winner who knows. XRP is the front runner though because of it's volume, speed, and tx cost.
Also 10 years running with no down time.

So...yea...you can do it all a little bit. You don't have to be a moonboi to think some digital assets have actual value.
I'm over $50,000 a year in cc charges and tx fees for cross border payments.
So the existence of the XRPL is literally worth $50,000/y JUST TO ME.

"Crypto" isn't money.
But to answer you question, eventually, and very soon you'll see "tokenization of assets".
This means buildings and land split into tokens and traded freely 24 hours a day.
This comes VERY NEAR being money.
But not quite.

This operation has just tokenized gold. Still gotta trust them. I'd rather own tokenized land or a building. Something that can't be moved ever and I know is there and can be audited with my own eyes.

Do you people even believe yourselves?
THIS IS NOT ABOUT XRP PRICE ACTION.
It's about it's actual ability to move money for free, on a ledger that has run for 10 straight years with no interruptions or issues, in 3-5 seconds.

If you did real business, it would very hard for you not to understand it's current value.
Sending $20,000 costs me about $165 every time I do it and (contrary to the XRP shills) only takes about 24 hours, not 3-5 days as you constantly hear.
I do that 15 times a year or more.
I take cc payments and give up 2.5% on every transaction for around a million in sales.

Are you starting to see something here.
It's the same function as oil.
It used to cost six horses to move something heavy.
Now it costs a gallon of gas.

Commodities have value for a reason. It's not magic.
It's in the marginal utility over alternatives.
You aren't eating the oil.

It was consolidating into a wedge between the recent uptrend support and the bigger downtrend resistance, it had to break one way or the other. It tested down but then broke upwards. Now it's got the 18, 45, and 100dma (red, purple and yellow) beneath it as support which is nice. The next resistance is the 200dma (green) which is also the important one, if it can get that one beneath it and acting as support then you're laffin beacuse all dmas beneath the price = bullish af, and the next resistance could be around 2.23

In the RSI the K line (red) also crossed over the D line (yellow) taking it out of the oversold condition so momentum is seemingly going upwards.

I think rare earths are going to explode in the next few years. China controls about 90% of the supply and will use it as leverage, just as Russia did with oil and gas. Investing now could pay off in the next few years when prices skyrocket due to geopolitical conflicts between the West and China. Also, I suspect that these rare earths are very sensitive to shortages and policy decisions in general, so if you are up to date on tariffs and policy decisions, you might be able to predict prices and trade them. Maybe im just naive but man, this idea sticks like a splinter in head.

It should be noted that the mill at Huckleberry, while fairly large might not actually be big enough for the scale of production that Surge would be looking at down the road. The important part is the permitted mill site, that is what Surge needs more than anything. An existing permitted and approved mill location means that they could expand without much work. Imperial Metals could get Huckleberry going again down the road too, but I dont see it being economical in this climate. The ore they have access too isnt high enough grade or wide enough to be worth expanding and dewatering their existing pit. It would make more sense to make a deal with Surge.

From the article
>New York City is scrapping its brilliant idea for electric garbage trucks after finding out the truck simply “aren’t powerful enough to plow snow”.

>The pipe dream of converting the city’s 6,000 garbage trucks from gas to electric in order to try and limit carbon emissions (because there’s no other problems that need to be dealt with in New York City right now) is “clashing with the limits of electric-powered vehicles,” Gothamist wrote this week.

>The city’s current trucks run on diesel and can be fitted with plows in the winter.

>Despite the shortcomings, the city Department of Sanitation’ has already ordered seven electric rear loader garbage trucks, custom-made by Mack, the report says. Those trucks cost an astonishing $523,000 each and are to be delivered this spring.

>Sanitation Commissioner Jessica Tisch told the NYC city council earlier this month: “We found that they could not plow the snow effectively – they basically conked out after four hours. We need them to go 12 hours. Given the current state of the technology, I don’t see today a path forward to fully electrifying the rear loader portion of the fleet by 2040.”

Here’s to a successful 2023 anons. I think at worst commodities stagnate this upcoming year. Unless the Chinese covid reopening is a complete apocalyptic scenario, I think their re-opening will place a higher floor on the commodity index and we’re not even getting into the supply constraints that likely outweigh any recessionary demand softening.

That ETF holds a bunch of long dated(expiring end 2023, 2024) OIL futures. In fact 40% of it's futures are OIL related. It also has a bunch of precious metals futures. The high dividend might be a one time event (portfolio rebalancing, or just their energy futures outperforming and needing to distribute the gains through dividends).

I don't know nearly enough about futures to recommend this ETF but, if your timeframe for oil booming falls in line within 2023-2024, it might be a decent oil/energy play?

Why would anyone tell you good news? What would they stand to profit from that?
Before you move to the Japanese countryside and start a harem of Geisha waifus, you should come to America and look around for yourself. That’s a gross oversimplification of what went down. Big Onion was a great asset, yes. But just to keep it in the BLLG portfolio required constant permitting and PEA renewals that were draining hundreds of thousands each year doing essentially nothing except for being a legal upkeep.

Big Onion is at least 10 years away from even being opened for ore delivery, at least that’s what some other anons around here once speculated at the time of sale. Now Rana can focus on the main stuff at Dome mountain.

Yes the major issue with the Big Onion is that there are currently better wider grade deposits for copper out there currently to exploit. Its been a known copper property for 40ish years but has always been beaten out by easier projects. It will be a mine some time down the road but not right now.

>> No.53091438

>>53090644
That being said though, I do think Big Onion still has a lot to go for in exploration, not just for copper. The placer gold in Driftwood Creek has to be coming from somewhere, the old school prospectors never located a source as there is to much talus coving bedrock. No drilling has been done to the west outside the main bowl of the mountain, and to the east its only been explored for the porphyry structure, not for the galena lenses or possible gold around the edges. The old time leaser miners were convinced Big Onion had potential for a major mine, some spent decades building roads and sampling trenches out there.

Someone from pmg gave a smart sounding post on this:
IMO FTDs (Fail To Deliver) on industrial metal exchanges is something that will cause concern, but not widespread panic.

LME Nickel futures completely exploded in 2022 and the problem was (((fixed))) and the exchange is still going. If anything happens with Platinum I think it will be similar, and the difference here is that the amount of Platinum that is overpromised will be much easier to cash-settle than the Nickel price explosion was.

A failure to deliver a significant proportion of deliveries will likely trigger a bull run in deliverable metal vs. contracts, but because Platinum is an industrial metal and a pretty small market, I expect the bull run to be a gradual process of new price discovery rather than overnight boom and to have minimal contagion into other markets like silver/gold.

Similarly I think a failure in the silver market would cause concern and have some contagion into gold, but only a failure in the gold market will really cause widespread panic.

I swung WHC a little bit, coal was a good hit in 2022, though I tried to buy for $4 when it was $6 and barely missed it by a few weeks. I did end up shorting the high this week and made $100, so that was nice to see some green for a change. I assume energy will be a concern next year as well, so I'd probably go coal/nuclear, though I don't know any other companies. There isn't a coal etf anymore, so you're stuck picking individual companies (which will likely be highly correlated), so it comes down to quality and jurisdiction risk, and at that point I'd trust WHC over eg chilean mining or thereabouts

Okay I think I'm getting a better grasp of FA. Using BHS as an example:
>Enterprise value (valuation): 8.173m
>Shareholder's equity (actual tangible value): 1.339m
>Trading at a 6.10x multiple to actual value
This implies that it's heavily overvalued (still), and that the value will shoot up, or needs even more dilution to become fairly valued.

>NOVR
>EV: 142.982m
>Equity: 76.619m
>Trading at 1.87x multiple to value

Therefore, this copper royalty is more fairly valued compared to the market valuation.
The next step would be to investigate current cash flows and discount rate on the company to see if those multiples make sense

Silver is actively consumed by industry and copper is used in fucking everything. As an aside, EVs need a fuckton of copper too, and if they want to have their meme EV revolution (the kind that keeps you stuck in cities and unable to travel far), they'll need even more of it.
Also consider water and sand long term. It'll probably be a good 2-4 years (respectively) before they're more relevant, but with the near-record amounts of drought this year and rising cost of food, guaranteeing potable water will be extremely important over time. Desalination is very expensive right now, for example, but solar concentrator towers and the apparent nuclear re-revolution might significantly reduce the cost of this over time. Sand has been discussed here before, mostly as an increasing cost in construction aggregate for concrete and such. That's more of a long term passive play.

I've been posting my face here far longer than you have

I'm not fish and game, or I would've gone after that bear you posted. None of my business but if you think I'm the only fed here you're in for a huge surprise.

I had a tag for that bear bob. I'm a career criminal. I don't accidentally break the law. In fact today is the first day I've actually done any hunting/fishing illegally because it's the fucking first and I can renew my licenses until tomorrow
You must think I'm retarded bob. There's nothing illegal about shooting a bear in the face at 100 yards.
The tag is filled and verified

Media will keep pushing the recession narrative for a few more weeks so the big banks/funds can buy back after the 30 day tax loss selling limit. Then one week, everyone will wake up and it'll be 10-15%+ for multiple days. Media will say "bear market rally top is in, SELL NOW" and then the next week it'll go even higher leaving most retail in the dust.
