This is like being in a losing poker trade and having someone else literally quadruple down on pot when you 100% have the losing hand. None of the issues with being systematically short is a function of price, they literally don't have the shares to backstop the shares that they sold. And now their already fatal short position was magnified while simultaneously giving retail a much comfier price point to DRS their shares.
Market makers have NO RIGHT to counterfeit the ownership of a company, and in doing so we have every right to destroy them. Initiating a short squeeze is legally tenuous, but taking 4x Leverage and shoving it down your throat is not.
It is no surprise that the price of shares is dropping.
SHFs are already the walking dead zombie companies. The number of shares the owe are at critical levels and the only way they can even pretend that the situation isn't a nuclear bomb is the lower the price so they overall exposure looks containable. However, the only source of liquidity is the shorts themselves. The ETFs have all be bought up and picked apart, so that trick doesn't work anymore. And no one even wants to lend any shares for anything less than 25% borrow costs which is literally worse than a CREDIT CARD.
This is all easily explainable, not even that complicated, and little bits of pieces of evidence exist ALL OVER THE PLACE that confirms the systemic short thesis is real. Don't take my word for it, retail has 50% of the free float locked up and despite all of that buying the price is going... down.
