I got this for christmas, the silver eagle set was completely unexpected but it's NICE. Practically new condition, the outer box is flawless and comes with the original doily(?) that protects the box. I don't know how they got the semi-reflective burnished look on the field of the enhanced uncirculated but it looks gorgeous. Funnily enough even though these sold a ton, the box is actually really valuable now because too many slab tards parted it out and threw away the original box even though the presentation is half the appeal of the damn set, lol. The guy at the coin shop cut my mom a deal because I go there a lot and they really like me, when she talked about me they knew who she was buying it for.

The 2016 limited edition set is also really nice, the box has material that feels a lot like a premium hardcover book cover such as the "Calvin and Hobbes" or "Berserk" deluxe editions. It's BIG though, not at all a practical way to collect proof sets.

I also got like four silver proof sets not shown, now I'm already halfway through the ATB silver quarters after getting all the silver state quarters. I'll probably get a few more cool commems like the Leif Erikson millenial commemorative and then back to bullion for a while.

I like coinroll hunting half dollars quarters and dimes. Also going through the silverware at thrift stores, estate sales, garage sales etc but desu it's just a hobby, I haven't found any substantial amount of silver this way. Been getting bank straps and selling the star notes, fancy serials, and silver certs and just buying bullion with it. Most of the thrift stores know what to look for and pull any sterling and carat gold out before they put them on the shelves. Still nice to find an overlooked piece of sterling. Found a fork last week that weighs 1.5 oz and only paid 25 cents for it. The LCS will buy it off me for a bit under melt value. Even found a few grams of 14k gold this way and a 14k gold ring with old cut diamonds hiding in a jewelry box I bought for 3 bucks at a thrift store. I wish I could find a way to scale this practice up so it's meaningful but idk, it's fun, I just stop by when I'm passing by and go hunting.

Ancient Greek Coins - The World of Numismatics

Vintage Catalogs (Greek Coins and their Values, pic rel)

100 Greatest Ancient Coins

One only truly learns numismatics through whatever vintage books they score at the local coin shop, otherwise you're paying premiums up the arse on feeBay or vCoins. Most book sets were so scarcely printed they're missing rarer coins, only partial sets exist, or the book is in a foreign language. Catalogues are the best for looking up reverse details to understand where they were minted. Affects value greatly. A dinky Alexander could be $150 or $600 depending on some minor detail.

That being said I do agree on not posting too much, normal anons aren't going to do anything meaningful with this information no matter how hard they try but glownigs can. Never post anything you wouldn't feel comfortable showing an FBi agent first, because I can only reasonably assume they are indeed reading this shit.

Providing the plebs think fiat is worth something, then nothing will collapse as central banks can print to infinity. The problem is that quality of life doesn't play by the same rules, so if enough hardship happens that causes the economy to stall, then the plebs will leave it like Venezuela and Zimbabwe. Central banks just need to keep the illusion going and prevent a crack up boom. The world is pretty much about 40% in that process with the east being more bullish for precious metals than the west. BRICS being a success is what will deal the killing blow to the US dollar. When that happens the crack up boom will be unstoppable like it always has been since antiquity.

I forgot to mention that there is something else that will most likely happen. The US Dollar, as well as other currencies like the UK Pound and the EU Euro, the backup plan is the revaluation of gold. Considering gold and silver hard heavily manipulated with future derivatives I don't think anyone knows what will happen with the ratio. If silver doesn't moon with gold then you're talking about a GSR ratio of around 4,000 to 1.

This, both precious metals have to go up at the same time, otherwise the ones who stacked gold:silver at 1:100 weight ratio can exchange their gold for silver and they'll 40x their silver hoard and that will definitely drain not only the comex, but all the physical silver that exists anywhere.

That's one reason why the new currencies will be redeemable in specie (actual gold). Nobody will trust anyone else. Also, the international standard will be in mass of gold. The names individual countries put on it will be trivial, like the gold standard under the Latin Monetary Union or the Silver Trade dollars. Yes agree however in practice it is impossible to maintain that since there is no feasible way to keep track of all physical gold. the physical gold won’t be shipped around obviously so one can just make up a bunch of gold that doesn’t actually exist since nobody can actually check it. Do you think all gold in existence will be sampled for counterfeits each year? This is the real reason the world moved off the gold standard since it would be easier to just fake the money from the get go

Wrong. The world was on a gold/silver standard for most of history and it worked very nicely, thank you. And the reason the world went off the gold standard was the greed of bankers/governments/crony capitalists who realized that if they could create money out of thin air, they could pocket most of it. But that scam has reached its end point, like ALL scams eventually do.

Those three things could identify your neighborhood and the house you live in.
Some of you include your hands in the photos.

That's actually super cool. Cooler than here in the lone star. We don't tax bullion at all, and there's no state level capital gains taxes. But we don't recognize gold and silver as money - which is utterly retarded. There've been a couple of bills introduced, but they never get off the ground. I just ordered a few goldbacks. Not much, about $100 in different denominations. I can't really spend them here except at a few merchants at my local farmers markets. They take fiat, gold, silver and crypto. I didn't get 'em to spend though. I just wanted a few for the novelty, and to help support the movement. I think they're pretty neat, and anything that helps fuck the fed is groovy with me.

Yep I've come across a lot of it, very popular in the '20s-30s. My aunt collects the orange uranium glaze stuff like anon posted. Most doesn't float my boat but I kept and spruced up a nice 1925 patent date kerosene lamp, had another that I sold for near $100 a while ago. I come across lots of uranium glass shards digging in old rubbish dumps and have been thinking about saving all the bits I find to tumble in something like a cement mixer and turn into simulated beach glass, even sold honestly I think it would be pretty valuable to people who use it for jewelry and crafts, druggie ravers might like it too. Wouldn't make a fortune or anything but a few extra grand here and there adds up to a fair bit of shiny.

Look at the assays of meteorites, i think the richest in terms of gold were under 9 grams per tonne and silver actually seems rarer than gold in metallic meteorites so silverchads would win in such a scenario. Asteroid mining might actually enhance humanity's Platinum group metals production so platcucks might seethe, but realistically everything mined in space would probably be kept in space to build out more extraterrestrial infrastructure. Also consider the difficulty of chopping up to "mine" a hard tough solid iron/nickel chunk on earth, we don't really have the ability to do that effectively here so the energy needed and technical challenges one would face when trying to disassemble enormous nickel/iron bodies in space would be gargantuan. We can blast fragile mineral rock ore easily enough but solid metal is often not worth the trouble, smelting easily processed ore to make 1,000 tonnes of iron is much easier than trying to cut up a 1,000 tonne sphere of iron. The difficulty of recovery is why things like old steel ships often just get abandoned instead of being broken up to recover the scrap, the challenges of cutting up something in nearly 0-gravity like Psyche 16 traveling at high speed many millions of miles away and then refining it which would probably be even more challenging are way beyond what we can manage. Basically, asteroid mining is just stupid FUD that only works on ignorant shitwits.

Wasn't most of the cost of salt due to transportation in the past? That's unlikely to be a major issue if it's merely major economic hardship rather than a societal collapse. Not a very efficient store of value IMO. Of course, if you're talking about prepping that's a different matter.

>Some nice Anon posted links

That was me, it's a bit outdated and there are many other dealers and reasonably priced sites I like but is still a solid starter guide.

When buying ancient coins on eBay, you must always check the Fake-Sellers lists for the seller's user ID to determine if they are trustworthy:
http://www.forumancientcoins.com/board/index.php?topic=18502.0
http://augustuscoins.com/ed/fakesellers.html

Some legit sellers occasionally have fakes slip through too so checking fake coin reports for the specific issues can be helpful, but probably not necessary for most common sub-$100 coins:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/fakes/

For identifying coins, these online encyclopedic databases are fantastic:
https://www.wildwinds.com/coins/i.html
https://www.asiaminorcoins.com/

A hidden gem realized-price database (by genius autist Rasiel Suarez of Lucitera fame) so you can get a sense for the value of different coins and recognize the quality of a deal. There is no "red book" price guide for ancients so prices can vary widely, for example I have coins that cost me less than $20 each that crAPMEX sells for $500 each. It's easy to overpay for ancients so DYOR and git gud, auction firms like CNG have useful realized price archives but this one is yuge:

Far from complete and needs updating but it's a good start:

Sellers I've bought ancients from with no issues, many are European so you need to select the "Worldwide" refinement under the "Item Location" section on the left side of the page or you won't see anything. Some sellers don't have anything listed right now but you can check their completed listings to see what they deal in:

>ask the so-called "coin expert" if the coins are verified by NGC, PCGS, scanned in an XRF machine or sigma verified
>"well no, they aren't certified in any way"
>so how do I know they're real
>"we've been in business since 1984, we wouldn't sell fake coins"
>how are they shipped
>"we just throw them in a bag"
>so they aren't in good condition like the commercial said
>"the original morgan dollars were also in bags"
>so they aren't in good condition? Guess I'm not interested
>the woman hung up on me before I finished the sentence
by the way, they wanted $900 for this """""service""""". $52 an unverified, undated and poorly packaged "coin" that only goes by the good faith of a telemarketer on being a real coin. And not counting shipping or any other bullshit charges they might have. They didn't stay on the line long enough with me to tell me.

No, they were on most actual standing liberty quarters as well. A G4 condition standing liberty quarter is at least $3,000 going off of the latest red book's value. They only minted 52,000 during 1916 which is ridiculously small for any circulating coin, and those were the topless version. Visible breast and especially intact head (a grade specific to standing liberty, the heads were poorly positioned and faces wore off really easily) is only going to get a lot more expensive

Think of it this way. Did the introduction of new world gold and silver crater the value of either in the old world? I think you know the answer.

If the beacon were 30ft above sea level, the beacon would be visible for at least 6.7 miles. But it's really on a bluff, and the beacon is at 127 ft asl, visible for 13.8 miles. That's plenty to mark the entrance to Admitalty Inlet, just 3.5 miles across, where the Point Wilson light marks the other shore.

Ah. Quite different. Perhaps you could solder (or have a jeweler solder) a loop at the end? You would lose no metal and it could be desoldered pretty easily. There are also clamp-on / cemented type, but there's a greater risk of failure in that type of bonding.

Well, one more idea - hammer the tip of the bar so you have a little more room to drill. It means you'd lose less metal (it would be thinner) and it might be stronger (wider loop).

The hyperinflation of Germany was so comically bizarre that entire blocks of housing were being sold for comically cheap. Those who could afford to vacuum up all of that real estate were those who could afford to pay. Those who did not had wheel barrows of cash.
Having physical commodities that are high in value density are not investments most people make, especially on the tail end of an 80 year long debt based economic cycle.
To be in the top 1% of physical silver enjoyers you only need 60 ounces, and without much imagination, a very sharp revaluation of all goods and services is very possible. Maybe not to the extent of Weimar Germany, but you should be humbled enough to acknowledge the massive opportunity present here.
The DOW:GOLD ratio has hit 1:1 twice in our history, and the Silver:Gold ratio is over 90 currently when it comes out of the ground closer to 8:1. That alone should show you the jaw-dropping potential here.
