Medicine is the undisputed king for wage slaves in 2022, it is bsolute fucking god tier. Compensation has skyrocketed in the last 3 years and there are shortages everywhere.

Pharmacists make 200k+ easily now, nurse practitioners make 150k+ easily, and if you complete medical school you’re basically guaranteed 400k+ base plus you get ENORMOUS bonuses and a percentage of RVUs, most doctors today clear 600k and people actually are not clued in on this for some reason.

Specialties like radiology and dermatology clear 900k in 2022. Medicine is an unbelievable scam now, compensation is absolutely off the charts, your local specialist will probably die with 50-100 million net worth.

Yeah but doctors can EASILY start their own businesses these days, having an MD is like being handed a license from the government to be rich, nobody is allowed to compete with you and the business model is actually painfully simple. Being a doctor is a total fucking scam and I still see retards say it's a bad idea because they're under the impression that doctors only make like 250k or whatever, their mental model for doctor compensation is stuck in like 2003. Specialists nowadays make like 1 million + yearly lmfao.

This is not totally true. Some of my close friends are new doctors, and I know how much they make. They make anywhere from 200-300K total compensation. For reference, I make 250K not in medicine, and I started earning probably 6 years before them. There is a good chance they might out earn me long term, assuming I don't get into a position that gives me significant equity compensation (i'm just base+bonus right now with a small profit share), but it's possible I can keep up. However, none of them are surgeons, dermatologists, radiologists, etc. I agree if someone is a specialist you can and will hit 300-400K 'easily'. I think 500+ is starting to be a stretch unless you are working insane hours, are in derm, or a surgeon. Medicine is hell man. I work full remote. You couldn't take my 250k job from me to say i'd earn 400k but i have to watch people die every day. There's easier ways to make a buck, and if you are willing to work hard enough to be a surgeon or smart enough to open your business as a specialist then you can likely climb corporate ranks just as well and make that money from the comfort of your own home with no one dying. my 2c

Salary has increased because the demand is unbelievable. Medical staff are overworked, understaffed and overwhelmed. They do several back-to-back shifts on their feet, no breaks. They are awake for days at a time, if they make one mistake they can loose their license and end up in jail, on top of the guilt of physically harming or killing someone should the mistake entail that. They deal with people of all walks of life who can be absolutely infuriating, and you must remain professional. I did tech school for a short period of time, and the amount of bullshit the experienced people put me off. You have to be someone who can completely numb their emotions. You will be exposed to traumatic situations often, and will witness gruesome death at some point, and may have to be the harsh asshole who puts on a brick face for a family whose impression you left them with will follow them for the rest of their, and your life. You will also have student debt from hell, on top of years of intense schooling. They are underpaid imo, but most people are.

This is all propaganda out out by doctors to keep their salaries high. Dermatologists don’t have to do any of that, radiologists don’t have to do any of that. Bingo. Look what always happens with hearings for federal judiciary nominees: every potential judge/justice is "superbly qualified", "a brilliant mind", "sharpest person ever to graduate Harvard", yadda, yadda. And this includes democrats praising republicans and vice versa! They all know that they need to keep the prestige of the profession high.
Same with doctors. They all "work so hard", are "so burned out", "have so much stress", etc. Clearly a decent fry cook living paycheck to paycheck on $12/hr can't even fathom the stress that $1mm/yr dermatologist knows. What's the alternative? Let foreign medical graduates in, raise number of residency slots, and tank the salaries? That can't happen.
Yet FAGMAN software engineers are willing to go on record how big of "nerds" they are, how "they don't actually know what they are doing most of the time", etc. If not for insane leverage you get working for a bigco, the prestige of the profession is zero. Plus there is no barrier to entry.

>Pharmacists make 200k+ easily now

This is not true, there is massive downward pressure on pharmacist salaries due to an influx of new pharmacists as well as competition from pharmacy benefits managers and their massive consolidated mail order factory pharmacies. I'd say national average is roughly 110-120k. Most pharmacists are being hired by the big boys (CVS/Walgreens) at less than 100k.

You can make more if you move to underserved areas but that's an extra 20-30k at best. The only pharmacists making more than 200k are managers that have been doing it 30+ years and are very rare because the corporations tend to fire them and replace them at the first excuse. I've seen it happen, very wary of the same fate given another decade or two.

That being said the Boomers are retiring and healthcare is generally the place to be for job security. There are a lot of pharmacists but they will be needed.

Now not only do I have to professionally handle every sad sack that walks through the door expecting everything to always be magically ready at no charge, but I also have to pretend to agree with everyone's hot political take, and most people have no idea what they're talking about. There's no adult conversations to be had anymore about risks and benefits. You're either a knuckle dragging Neanderthal who doesn't believe in science or you're a ignorant sheep injecting the government juice. The reality is I could care less if people want the vaccine or not, I'm just a service provider. I tell people that straight up sometimes and they still somehow interpret it as what they want to hear anyway. People are crazy.
