This is what happens when you drive a truck really quick. Making a truck go fast from a standing start is the most stupid fucking idea and why no other manufacturer does it. It's either going to fly off the back and kill whoever is behind you or come forward when you stamp the brake and kill you. I suppose with the limited weight a Tesla can carry this doesn't apply because it can't carry shit which is not a very good selling point when you're only paid for what you carry

speed limits, traffic density, road conditions, reaction times are all greater factors in delivery times - truck max speed is prettty much matched to optimal already. What is more important in trucking is range, reliability, constant availabilty (no hanging for hours on chargers etc) - all shit that Musks vaporware is (naturally) fucking terrible at. Still, the renderings look good.

Tesla really should've made an electric box truck instead. If there's one thing BEVs are good at, it's city slicking and Tesla's experience in electric drivetrains would've given them a very good shot at getting a huge head start in that market. But no, gotta make it a semi because of the "prestige" attached to it.

I'm English. Volvo, Daf, Renault, Scania have all launched electric vehicles over here. It's got nothing to do with threatening my manhood and everything to do with the sheer bullshit elon is spouting. Every trucking company would jump all over electric if they saved even a fraction of a percentage point. Trucking profit margins are razor thin and anything that gives you a slight edge is adopted virtually overnight. I'd drive a truck with a dildo strapped to the seat if it improved my mpg by even a fraction. The only way electric trucks work over here is 'last mile' delivering to stores in city centres these tend to be smaller trucks. And the only reason they're used is because local government has put outrageous charges on diesel trucks. It's £100 a day in London for the ULEZ and £20 for the congestion charge so that's £120 a day of tax put on diesel which makes the EV's look cheaper. On a level playing field EV trucks lose every time because of their limited load capacity.

I'm actually a trucker, I pull reefer and deliver food and produce. He is correct, the way shipping/recieving works, it pays more to move more weight and move more weight that the reciever can put upcharges on. For instance a bag of flour has limited upcharge, the reciecer buys it for $1 and can sell it for $1.02, meanwhile aa pack of gum they buy for .20 and can sell for .80.

There is no advantage to showing up to recieving or shipping appointments early. You are scheduled to arrive at 1000 and they will let you go at 1200 exactly because any later than they have to pay out detention fees. You are free to show up at 0800 but they will still keep you till 1200 and pay $0 in detention fees. The trucking company makes more on the pounds and value of the product, not showing up 6 hours early.

>Volvo, Daf, Renault, Scania have all launched electric vehicles
But they are nigger-rigged outsourced electric trucks that have less than half the range of the Tesla, at best. I don't see why you wouldn't get better MPG. The Tesla semi's consumption is known, at around 1.8kWh/mile loaded, or "under 2kWh", the weight is estimated somewhere around 13-14 tons. People were mostly skeptical of the range, but evidently it does 500 miles on a charge. Which is actually not as relevant as the 1MW fast charging, because you have gubment mandated breaks for truckers everywhere, so you're not usually going to do 500 miles in one sitting, and the 1MW fast charging is enough to recharge the truck during the mandated break.

Diesel truck takes literally a minute to reach max speed from standing still. Also diesel trucks slow down to a crawl when driving uphill. In this case we are also talking about trucks, which never need to be loaded or unloaded during which you can charge.

This is the product that will turn Tesla from a history-writing company to an epoch-creating one.

There are millions of trucks in the American fleet alone, enough to account for a $400B market. 75% of them are owner-operated. The lowest APR loan a person can get is for equipment they make money on. Tesla's primary competitive advantage is AI.
>t. trucker
Any trucker who's comfortable with the lifestyle will buy a small fleet, not just one. The only thing we need to be "there" for is parking/maneuvering. The last-mile issue is about to become the "how do parking" issue.
>docking your trailer is hard. most people can't into trucking because they can't park.
>robots can park fine but regulations will take 10 years
>people who fill the gap will be rich

So basically Elon is going to fill this market demand using finance from an existing money pool that he doesn't need to control. Truckers are just sitting there ready to pre-order. And we'll pre-order ten deep. Every one of us. All he has to do is give good remote pilot ability and an NFT-ignition.

I don't know why retards have such a big problem accepting the fact that Tesla can make better EVs than anyone else, when they have an established track record of doing so. They're a big, specialized company dedicating a lot of money and effort to developing their vehicles, as opposed to everyone else just throwing a random chink battery and drive system into their existing truck designs and wondering why their range is shit.
