Im thinking about buying my first crypto with the intent of holding. Which would be the best coin to buy and why? I keep hearing about bitcoin. Is bitcoin worth the hype?

>> No.52906387

literally yes, just buy Bitcoin
maybe something else will give you higher returns, but you are going to stress yourself out to 200% while doing so

If you had a huge lump sum to invest, I doubt you'd ask on an anonymous anime enthusiast image board.
Just buy every month and average out your buy-in.
Of course it may go lower, but this is already at levels that most people thought wouldn't ever happen again. For most it's an absolute steal and if you buy currently, you will have a lower buy in than the large majority of people owning BTC.

Bitcoin is a pretty safe bet, but you won't make life changing gains with it or anything. I guess it depends on your risk tolerance. I'd do 70% bitcoin, 20% ethereum, 10% shitcoins.

Coldcard is a hardware wallet that holds your private keys that ensures no one can move your funds without that particular device or your seed. The device provides an easy method to sign transactions so you can move funds as needed. Coldcard takes security more seriously than competitors and has a good workflow for airgapped use (never plug the device into a computer so keys can never possibly be hacked or exposed). Use coldcard for any serious holdings you have. It's btc only but that makes sense for this kind of device.

This is the basically what I do every month, and I've been able to bag some Ethereum, Matic and Xyo
I should be getting sylo in my next purchase, as it's offering decentralized comms and P2P options.

Just buy BTC and ETH on a regular basis. Maybe screw around with some smaller caps with money you can afford to lose. Do you research and have fun.

Kek it's downtrending and this is not the bottom.

No one has heard any big news for crypto and no major names have mentioned making any moves.

There was mention of more regulation which could flatline this thing to death

You initiate a transaction using a watch only wallet like electrum or sparrow. You transfer that unsigned transaction to the coldcard via a microsd card slot. You sign the transaction on the device and then load the PSBT back onto your pc via sdcard and then broadcast it from your pc

Idk if this is a real thread or not but assuming it is, just buy BTC/ETH maybe 50/50 or 40/60 BTC/ETH.
If $5k is all you have to invest I wouldn't YOLO it in right now.
If you have an actual job and will have more money to buy later on then figure out a budget with an allocation on how much you want to invest each [whatever period of time] and start doing that now. Keep the rest of the money on the sideline for a big opportunity which would be an absolute disgustingly low bottom with incredible fear that lasts more than a day, or once the bottom has basically been confirmed
