there is no logic. You are shooting from the hip, otherwise you would have predefined points of exit for profit and loss and you wouldn't be left wondering why your losses are bigger than your wins. All of that should be figured out ahead of time. Options make it a lot more complicated esp with shorter expiry. Personally if I'm long options I want 9 months or longer, to hold for 1-2 months. Gives a big time buffer as the greeks wont change much in that short of a period vs 9 months, and can roll later if needed.
