Assuming half of them are dead in 2030, where are the remaining 99,700 people supposed to live?

Us public transit is shitty because of 2 things:

1. car centeric infrastructure. Our cities are built for cars, not people. If you choose to bike, you will probably get hit by a car and die

2. private car ownership blocks public transit. Why would you use public transit to get stuck in the same traffic as car users?

Public transit needs dedicated space for priority transport. This is why Europe has trams that run down the center of roads. They only go 25mph, but everything is so close, and they have priority, it's faster than driving to work in America.

Cars need to be limited to uses where expanded and prioritized public transit doesn't serve, or they are travelling outside of public transit area.
