One issue is that this particular round is so new it's less likely for someone to be familiar with it compared to something from the country's mint.
I know it's unlikely that we ever go Venezuela mode here, but I feel like I shouldn't rule out the possibility.
I know there are methods of showing silver is silver in person, but that still depends on someone believing the machine or the chemistry behind it.
The "upside" is that I don't get that many more ounces if I buy the cheapest locally available round anyway.

i buy almost exclusively scrap gold right now since i generally enjoy it more than coins and bars.

i resell women's scrap and stuff that i wouldn't wear myself. i pay sometimes double spot for stuff i really like but generally i prefer to buy pure scrap for less than spot and stuff that i halfway like for maximum 15% over spot.

the watch in pic related has a fully iced dial and textured band and it shines like a mofo in summertime. Got it for pretty much 100% of spot. Had it appraised for 10k but cant bring myself to sell it since i enjoy it as a summer watch.

i'm just saying - assuming your finances are in order and you have a good stack- it doesnt make much difference if you pay a premium on some items that you really want. ultimately, enjoying life is one of life's ultimate purposes. if you enjoy certain coins or pieces of jewelry - does it really matter that you paid a premium for it? once hyper inflation hits simply having it will put you ahead of most normies. this is assuming you're paying 100% or less premium.

can't tell since its movement was replaced with a generic quartz and the dial is iced with nothing written on it.

I think it was a jeweler that made custom cases for watches because i've seen solid gold omegas with the same stamp on the case.

The watch came to me with a case from a cash for gold shop in the United States. I guess somebody bought it 50 years ago, sold it to a cash for gold shop, then a canadian bought it while on vacation, put it in a safe, and then sold it to me 50 years later. when i got it it looked like it hadn't even been worn once. When i wear it i try to only touch the clasp so that i dont even get fingerprints on it.

id also advise to have a cash fund put back before you invest in metals. it doesnt matter if you like it or not, cash is king. You wont be paying your bills with silver coins, youll be selling your stash at whatever price youll get at the moment. You need to have 6 months of cash put away, then start thinking about dumping money into whatever. If you trade up, youll lose money on that transaction.

I have an emergency fund in a bank account that I don't even consider spending. I don't view it as being available, even when the Black Friday sales were going on. I have a somewhat comfortable stack of silver, but almost zero gold. The 1/4 ounces a week that I'm looking to invest in will be entirely funded by the government via unemployment benefits during winter layoff. Since I do enough side work during the winter months, the government gibs are a surplus, and I can't think of a better way to spend them then on a 1/4oz of gold per week. So you see, I care fuck all about premiums.

Those funds are in my mom's name, in a different account, at a different bank, and aren't to be touched by my hands unless it's an emergency. I look at it this way, the government will be paying me a 1/4oz of gold a week, and they'll be paying the premiums. Sure, I have to do the leg work and shuffle the gibs into my account so I can purchase the gold via ACH, thus saving 4% vs credit/debit purchase. Did it last year, only with silver. Frens,I have a finance related question and I don't want to make a separate thread about it because I know damn well I will just get a bunch of basedboi crypto nerd replies. I only trust my /pmg/ bros for answers, so question is do any anons have experience with treasury bills aka T-bills? If so, what exactly is the process like? Good/bad experience? Pros vs Cons? jewish shenanigans I should worry about etc? The reason I ask is because I am sitting on some fiat (not a whole lot) I plan on using for a down payment on a home in maybe 6-12 months and well it's just sitting there in a savings account and getting a 4% return sounds nice. I would use the % profit to add to stack.

you can buy them through a brokerage. you pay the discount rate, so if its 4% interest (its not) you would pay something like .96 , and get $1 back when it matures. keep in mind, the bills interest rate is per year, not term on some of these.
"not a lot" and youre planning on buying a home? What is "not a lot" to you? how much is this home, and how much are you planning on putting down? I know its never a good time to buy a home if you ask some people, but right now is really not a great time to buy. Now is the time to come up with a greater down payment if anything. Interest rates are brutal right now.
i just looked, and citi bank is paying 3.4% on savings accounts.

>index funds?
What level of risk would be involved with this approach? For instance, let's say a jew went up on a stage and said a few words would it crater -40% for the next 5 years? The reason I am looking into T-bills is because from my understanding it is zero risk guaranteed 3-5% . The dollars I would be using are for a down payment on a home so can't gamble with it and can't buy PMs with it since I will not sell PMs. I just want the safest way to put this fiat to use until I am ready to use it.

The old Latin Monetary Units (20 francs, ducats, even restrikes..) typically have a very low premium, even at 0.1107 ozt (Austrian 1 Ducat, e.g.). But for modern products, it is true that the lower the mass, the greater the percentage premium. I have a hard time buying less than a half ozt of moderns.

Got these earlier in the week, going to the bank tomorrow to get cash to get more tomorrow. LCS has a helvetia at the same price as all the online dealers so I'm going to grab it too. Maybe I'm jaded by previous LCS selling crazy high over say jmbullion for pretty much everything. This store is so damn good in comparison to any other LCS that I've seen. Prob going to drop $3k on mercs and a few gold pieces, and I don't think I'll regret going on a ramen diet for a while because of it.

They’re just front running the federal reserve. Fed is expected to soft pivot in their meeting this week. 50 basis points instead of 75. I see these things everywhere on bullion dealer websites. They’re a hell of a lot cheaper than the silver eagles right now. But the silver Britannia‘s have been my favorite lately even if they are prone to milk spots. They’ve been the cheapest sovereign minted coins for the most part lately, and they have the best security features on the newer coins.

Don’t listen to the hard-core American brand enthusiasts. United States minted coins are just too damn expensive right now. This is due to the US meant mostly shutting down sales due to low production. There’s plenty of cheaper sovereign minted coins that are highly recognizable and trusted. Look into Canadian maples and English Britannias. Generic rounds such as buffaloes can also still be hard for a good price right now.

Do you really need that much space for 700oz of silver?
Normally the rule with safes is to get bigger than what you need right now but with cash and precisions metals its really easy to put more value inside the safe than it can be trusted to secure for insurance purposes and security response time.
Common recommendation is to check your area for used safes as you might find very expensive residential and commercial safes being sold real cheap or even given away for free, The hardest part will be moving the safe.
An uncommonly of course of action is putting safes within safes, With cash and PMs there is easily leftover space which one could mount another safe adding another layer of security. Some safes are come like this stock.

Coin roll hunting for silver isn't very productive these days, half dollars are a favorite of hunters but usually you'll be lucky to get just 1 or 2 lame 40% Kennedy's in a $500 face box, and then you need to figure out how to dump the coins. You can't use the same bank you pick up from because they won't give you more coins if they see you bringing everything back, and keep in mind that it costs banks to have fresh boxes delivered, and costs banks to sort bags of returned coins, and costs them to ship coins back to rolling facilities so most banks will think you're a pain in the ass.

I personally recommend getting bags of coins from their lobby coin sorting machines, you can get rich collection loads from people depositing grandpa's collection and the banks save transport costs selling those bags to you instead of sending to get rolled. If you're numisfaggotry inclined and you've got a copy of The Cherrypicker's Guide for all the obscure errors and die varieties then sorting different coins could be fun, but if you're only interested in cheap silver then it'll be much more productive and practical to take the scrap-pill and seek out inexpensive sterling. I've found more silver in coinstar reject trays while grocery shopping than roll hunting and the reject coins are free but neither approach is a good way to fatten the stack meaningfully. I like sorting $50 penny bags for coppers, wheaties and errors, haven't found anything amazing yet but I know a guy who found a nice key date 1914-D.

I knew it would happen eventually. Canadian 800 is now getting to be on par with generic silver. Dollar coins and half dollars in particular. It used to be cheaper. Some of my old places have really jacked up the prices on good condition dollar coins, closer to par with the going silver content rate of American coin silver quarters and half dollars.
1965 mint sets are still the most available, but prices are higher. My Canadian sources are no longer cost effective to import. It seems as though the big names in the US are buying up Canadian junk now. My LCS says as much.
They used to send 800 silver off to get melted down but now collect and sort to get bought up by the bigger names.
Certain commemorative years are getting harder to find. Goose 67 dollars are available but pricier than they were this time two years ago. You can still find some ebay "deals" but you're still paying numismatic premiums.
I'm getting an impression that more individual coin sales on eBay are people selling what they have rather than coin shops. Nothing more than anecdotal here. I have been buying more for bulk than numismatics lately having crossed off most of my shopping list. (Still missing a 1936 dollar and some niche die-wear based items. I'll likely always want 67s, 49s, and 35s.)
Overall I'm pleased that 800 silver is no longer strictly melt. The fractional value is starting to be appreciated, if not the numi value.
Thanks for the assist, /pmg/! I'm sure some 800 stackers are here.

>Any European stackers here? How's the electricity price going?
Hella expensive, I guess?
>Are you guys still able to buy Christmas present for your friends and family as well as buy gold and silver?
Of course. It's not like I'm poor or something. Just a bit less money left over at months end.

I’ve been buying a lot of constitutional silver in the last 6 months. I kind of feel selfish for not helping to drain the comex, but I really enjoy collecting these old coins. I want to have a tube of each, all VG or better. I’ve completed tubes of morgans, peace dollars, roosevelts, and mercury dimes. Almost done with kennedys, then will move on to finish washingtons, standing liberties, and walking liberties

>How's the electricity price going?
Shitsux. Price is almost doubling next year. 50+ cents per kWh. But this will show Putin for sure.
>Are you guys still able to buy Christmas present for your friends and family as well as buy gold and silver?
I kinda combine both. For women this is easy but for guys this means something more utilitarian like a watch or a pen or something. These things tend to be more expensive than cheap jewelry.

Is buying silver on a weekly basis a sound plan? I can afford a few onuces here and there, hoping to accumulate indefinitely for years to come.

This happens all the time now. I've seen days where someone dumps a ton of silver all at once like that over dozens of times. I guess that's the guy who got convicted for price manipulation.

I'm not planning on selling, but anything can happen. If you pretend this isn't part of PMs you're being disingenuous. Also, why would sealed tubes of bullion go for less than spot?
This site seems pretty retarded today.
