I've never spent more than $3k on an order and I haven't been screwed over on a large one, though one of them was shorted by about 10%. instead of going to a different supplier I ordered again from the same and shook them over the missing 10% figuring they would give it over and the next order was only 5% shorted. welcome to dealing with chinese. about 80% of my experience has been good and that's enough to make good money.

Closest coin shop to me is mostly stocked with US currency, and a panda, a monarch, or a Krug here or there as far as silver goes. Pretty disappointed. The only gold I remember them having were these half or quarter gram rounds that I couldn't even get a good look at because they'd already been sold. Besides that, all the pawnshops nearby have gold pesos, gold Krugs, and Morgans with massive markups. I mostly stick to buying online. There was a pawnshop I visited going through Oklahoma that had a good selection, picked up a couple RMs and a Swiss franc. Just depends on where you're at.

Are there any good videos that explain in a retard friendly way the concept of how money works? Specifically this:
So when people say the value of the dollar is decreasing. A dollar is a dollar, why would it change? (This is asked in a stupid way, I sorta understand but not really)

And how the price of silver coin varies constantly, despite it being the same silver coin. Also how different designs can change the value of it.

I understand it is a market thing, but I don't REALLY understand. It's such a basic concept that I really need to understand it. I haven't found anything that explains it in a way that really clicks with my brain.

Literally impossible to predict, as (((they))) managed to not bleed a single oz from registered since October. Now most (probably north of 95%) deliveries are settled OTC between participants to not disturb the numbers, as the banksters noticed a lot of attention was drawn by the public on their vaults' reserves.

By muddying the waters they are hoping for ppl to get bored eventually. That's a bold bet, as most stackers are here to play the long game. What we need is a banksters' war. For example if one of the participants (almost all of them being big banks) decide to go rogue and refuse to settle OTC and require on-the-book deliveries from registered vaults, we could see some movements.

But alas, we know all banks are owned by the same rabbis, so this is quite unlikely to happen. The other option would be for the CFTC and SEC to do their fucking job for once, and prosecute them all for manipulation and conspiracy, but i can't think of a single entity more corrupt than them (and i've instutions in mind where corruption is basically 99% of their business), so once again, not very optimistic.

But in a sense, comex don't have to break for the price to go up, because something changed on a fundamental level with the PMs market : ppl don't trust paper anymore, they want the real deal in their hand. And no matter how much IOUs the banks swing back and forth, at some point it have to end in our paws.

Also it's RIP in pepperoni on egay france for silver stuff. I spent literally hours upon hours trying to scope some silver scrap; and out of approx 100 auctions, not a single one ended below 19-20€/oz.
And it's x10 worse for .999 bars/coins, it's selling for minimum 30-35€/oz. Which i find ridiculous considering even the LCS are less expensive (27-30€/oz for the cheaper end of the spectrum).

Pic related, recently ended auctions on ebay. And i took the cheapest ones. Almost tempted to sell few coins for 35€ a pop and wait for cheapies to slurp them back again at my LCS.

Generally you need to have a membership. Coin shops will often have a membership and you can send them off to get graded through them.
Turn around varies. Rates vary. The website will outline the variations. It costs more to get more valuable coins graded, evem if you think they are more valuable and they turn out not to be.
I think NGC has different rates for coins pre-1964. It's been a while since I checked.

Don't judge him too harshly please, he's a hard normie worker, with 3 kids, just wants to be rich I guess, like us all.

Also depending on where he lives, talk to him about being prepared to bug-in or bug-out even for just a month.
Food, water collection/filtration, portable power, etc. See if where he lives is prone to earthquakes or a fault zone where, if one does happen, it could be bad.
With that much money it's smarter to be prepared just in case. Would be a shame to die to something that could've been prepared for, while he was waiting for any kind of investment to pay off.
I'd love not to think about the stuff myself. Maybe where he lives it's really not going to be a concern. Anyway think about it.

Wish them good luck with this one. Trust is gone, 2/3rd of the nickel traders left the LME platform out of disgust and fear. Those customers are lost forever.

What's interesting about this fiasco is how the contagion slowly spread to others high-leveraged commodities traded on the LME. Nickel is far from being the most leveraged commodity, but since the market is so tiny, and thus lack hedging mechanisms, it was the first to implode.
The traders knew this was the canary in the coal mine, and sooner or later, each overleveraged metal will end up facing the same scenario. So they quietly started to leave during the summer, seeking for greener pastures where hopefully giga-rabbis wont retroactively cancel your trades to save their house of card.

You know the situation is critical when british traders prefer to exchange on the Shanghai exchange rather than London lol. This is where extreme corruption of all our institutions leads to. Eventually people flee.

The pound have been extremely volatile (in a shitty way) this year. For you and me (€) it looks like silver did a +15%, but in USD term it barely moved.
But in a sense, it's like we held our savings in dollars, thus avoided a 15% haircut compared to anybody else locally, which is pretty comfy. Forget about liquidity and security features and SHTF scenarios. People have been sorting real silver from fake silver for a VERY long time with far more primitive tools than we have now. Your job is to stack as many ounces as possible for the least money.

If you have more breathing room in your budget, buy things you like. You might be interested in the artistry of the design, the history, the nationality, the symbolism, etc. I like to have some diversity but you can just find one item you like and go all in on it.

If you must "collect", I suggest you start with your nation's old silver coins exclusively.

If you want something a little less lengthy, the history section in this book is also excellent and only 117 pages. Many interesting photos relating to gold coins. This book was written at a time when gold was still illegal to hold for proles in the USA and so focused on using the numismatic exception to invest in gold.

The reason for central banks is it allows the regional banks more ability to inflate. On the gold standard and before the central bank was created, bank runs were devastating and they were localized to individuals and the last man in line got burned. Banks today also run out of capital, but instead of shifting losses to the last in line, we all collectively eat the losses as they can be monetized and spread out via dollar dilution. As we sit on a massive pile of bogus IOUs that can never be repaid, we have a situation to where we are all collectively broke as our insurance companies are under capitalized, our pensions own bogus IOUs. There is a severe shortage of real capital as we are all pretending that $46TN of bonds are actual valid claims. A massive collapse is all but a guarantee at this point, regardless of the timeframe. There is no accounting/finance trick to conjure up free wealth. All we can do is spread out the losses, which is why we are living under 10%+ inflation right now. Those who make a B-Line for the real capital will be those who profit handsomely. The paper-ponzi is stalling out, and it retrospect it was nothing but a wealth extraction scheme. The whole system is trying to maintain itself, so there is still time to make your exit while you still can.

Thw GSR is simply how many ounces of silver to equak the valur of a single ounce of gold.

As you notes, the 15:1 ratio was set by law. In ancient egypt the ratio was 1:1. In ancieny Rome it was 4:1. In the US it was 15:1 at the founding then congress revised it to 16:1 a few years later.

Bimetalism was abandoned because it was impossible to maintain the ratio and not end up with either a glut of gold or silver depending on which was more abundant.

Peope talk about the gold rush but forget that at one point the US had so much silver we started making trade dollars out of silver thar could only be spent over seas and take advantage in arbitrage.

The tldr is dont pay attention to the 15 to 1 ratio its not reflective of silver and gold demamd as it exists today.

Post bretton woods anytime silver geys under 60 its relatively expensive compared to gold.

In what? I'd honestly love to cast a few silver bullets for handloads but silver melts at a much higher temp than lead. I think gold is higher even than that.
Not something you can do on a campfire or stove like with lead.

Those double burner furnaces burn through propane at an almost insane rate. Burning pcbs to nothing takes alot - and I mean A LOT - of gas. You'd honestly be better off stripping the silkscreen and insulation layers off with acetone, then soaking the pcbs in a 2:1 mixture of HCL and H2O2 to dissolve anything non-pm. You will burn through more gas than you will recover in pms otherwise.
If you do elect to go the burn method, get a quality respirator. The fumes from the burning pcbs are very toxic. Do you have a welding shield to protect your eyes?

It was a Great Leap Forward peasant pig iron joke. Mao wanted Iron production, and what better way to make Iron then using the Noble peasant to make some, like a good communist. So all these peasants are building backyard furnaces to make iron for the great leap forward, and if they don't make the quotas they'd be shot for being a Nationalist sympathizer or whatever. So in a panic these peasants do whatever they can to make those quotas, to include melting there farm equipment for scrap metal. This of course cause a massive famine since they couldn't really farm anymore, the insect population was exploding (Another funny story that) along with all the usual efficiencies of central planning meant that up to 60 million Chinese died of famine. The Iron they did make was shit btw

Bank of America economist Michael Gapen anticipates that the Fed will raise interest rates by another 50 bps in December, 50 bps in February and 25 bps in March 2023 to reach a terminal rate range of between 5% and 5.25%.

“We think risks to our revised FOMC rate path continue to lie to the upside and upcoming prints on CPI inflation and the November employment report will weigh heavily on the near-term path for Fed policy,” Gapen says.

In addition, he says a Fed pivot is likely still more than a year away.
