Okay where to start. Firstly, the place where to find it is confusing, there is settings and security, you could expect it to be in security but it's not. It's in setting, the solution is to have security settings and make settings easier to reach.
Second the only thing you get is the 24 word phrase, xwallet gives you a 12 word one. The correct thing to do here is to give people the phrase, the key and back up to cloud (iToddlercould or GoogleDrive) That's the standard when it comes to wallets as of now. Not having key is absolute fucking insanity.
Third when backing up the phrase there is no way to copy it.. THIS IS CRAZY. I had to write down all words and made multiple mistakes and skipped words along the way. When I copy and paste the phrase it's always 1:1, there is no security reason on the planet to make people manually write it down, either they simply won't because it's a hassle or they will make mistakes.
Forth, when importing their own 24 word passphrase there is no way to paste.. because they build their own dumb keyboard instead of just copying what is status quo. They did more work to make it shit.
I doubt all this is intentional and is just the result of people that never touched crypto.

Autodetecting seeds in copypaste is a very well known low effort virus theft method. I agree and disagree. On one hand, anyone can clone the repos and stand up (and also modify!) their own node with its own code. Same with Pact. The OSS model exists for a reason.

However, what we do have is authoritative weight: when node operators see a release from us, the vast majority of them adopt our versions. If another competing authority came along with a fork of the chainweb node or pact code and managed to challenge us, that would be fine! Nothing is stopping anyone from taking on the effort.

I'm not sure we'd want that. I need to read the GhostDAG paper in its entirety, but even from that, I'm concerned about the potential for double spending and the fact the algorithm, by design, almost requires pool centralization throughout its lifetime.

I'd also want to look at what the code is doing compared to the algorithm described in the paper. Implementation is very different from whitepaper. In real life. Additionally, from what I've seen, I'm not confident they're approaching the whole smart contract transaction layer with enough care. All of the marketing I've seen (and also Shai's comments) seem to be claiming that it can just be bolted on. I'm unsure of that. I don't think it's entirely fair of them to critique other platforms, nor us to critique them until they put a solution out and we can compare/contrast.

Anyway, I'm reading through the relevant papers with Lars. We'll have an idea of what they're working with soon, and I can more competently say things about the platform.

Short sighted and stupid imo.
Memory can't possibly be that expensive to plan ahead in case the few coins like BTC/ETH/XMR got many advanced features in 5 years or so. The device works, it feels sturdy, but I do think it was a stupid decision to give them such a small amount of memory that there was zero wiggle room. Maybe hindsight is 20/20 and they expected there to be no more than 4 coins people could ever care about which mostly makes sense if you believe in your investment, but they should have probably hedged against the idea that maybe just maybe there was a high likelihood for more demand in a few years. It seems like such an obvious thing to consider when making a somewhat future-proof device. Stupid or malicious, who knows.

Besides you can just delete the apps and reinstall them without losing your coins so even if it only held one at a time it wouldn't be a problem.

I do think you share lots of leftist ideas, including being sufficiently open-minded to support blockchains like Kadena. I never expected simple feedback to yield small misunderstandings further snowballing into complex social matrices, but I still believe everyone acted out of goodness. I have been forever alone and never had experience in prolonged communications with any entities outside 4chan. I probably over-reacted great folds to lots of 4chan buzzwords that felt overwhelmingly frightening to me, which is why I was unable to handle any of this properly.
