If your goal is to just exist forever with a mediocre living, fine. Even if you have 2 mil, without a job that can maybe net you at most 100k/yr in the most conservatives investments. If you don't invest it, you'll run through that quickly.

I'd rather work (job is easy, remote, less than 10 hrs/week) and make 500k/yr and have literally tens of thousands to spend each month forever.

Remote tech, on paper it's salary and working hours are "40 hours" per week. But nobody working remote actually works 40 hours.
