>Bonds underpreforming
That had to do with the crash conditions. In 2020 rates were nearly at the floor already. If Fed raises rates to 5% terminal -- then bonds are looking at an '08 style crash as the fed swoops in with the printer and drops the rates back to zero. That will be quite a bit though so even the bond kings are only seeing 5% risk-free yield (not accounting for inflation) or possibly 10-12% corpo yield.

Sigh another year is almost in the bag. Soon I'll be another year older. (turning 40). Another year knocked off on my path to retirement. Plan for 2023 is real simple; stuff my plain boring savings and emergency fund accounts as much as I can and deal with life's little "shat happens" things that tend to creep up and suck your green when you least expect it. Least that pending pay bump (6% - 12%?) will aid me in doing that.

Bonds ain't running up and are obv not zero risk anymore due to inflation. Also the graph was 3x stock short vs 3x bond long. Just to put apples to apples. Don't use leverage idgaf. Nobody said you had to, that's your strawman. Another strawman "bonds won't go up during a crash", as was "go 100% short", you're having an argument with voices in your head famalam.

The actual point is that they are inferior as a crash play to stock shorts, and the trend (because stagflation is a factor now) is that they increasingly fail to follow stock shorts upwards all the way to market bottom making them a tricky crash trade to time correctly when you can just short stocks . The secondary point is that it is likely their short-circuiting vs stock shorts will be even more pronounced this time because the market has had a demonstration that gov can cause inflation.

I know this is radical stuff 4U and you're just outraged by it, but that's my last post ott. Already been very patient re-explaining it several times. Go ahead an make another post with more strawmen idc.

Here, have a cat.

You're obsessed with returns while I'm talking about risk. There's 3 bear positions:

One makes nothing, loses to inflation but has unlimited time. Two makes returns, has monthly yields, and has unlimited time. Three has better returns but needs to be called correctly. Understood?

Decided I'm gonna move like 10% to a safe dividend paying thing.
Considering these ones, about to look into them:
Tlt
Vclt
Tmf
Bils
Usfr
Any thoughts or other suggestions?
I basically want something that's either very stable or monotonic and pays a dividend.

I grew up around Texicans in South Texas, legitimately some of the hardest working men I've ever met in my life (refinery services) when it comes to doing shit that no one else wants to do, albeit they'll be a little slow at it. The wamen are loyal too, yes there's a good chance they'll get fat in their mid-20s but if she has a skinny mom then you should be fine (imagine not being able to spot a future fatty kek lmao couldn't be me). My older relatives never understand why I only date Mexicans, but they have zero exposure to what a modern early-20s white woman is like today and all of the hassle that comes with one. Goals is to meet a very kind/sweet, decently pretty, very skinny dirt poor Mexican girl with pretty toes and eventually marry her tbqhwyf

They are actually mostly fine in spite of a lot being criminals. Always got along with them much better than other minorities that's for sure. Blacks it's pretty much always shitty to deal with them ofc.

The various flavors of Asian all tend to be weird autismos or have inferiority complexes that makes it hard to be friendly with em as a white guy. Usually related to girl troubles. Stacy doesn't want to fuck em, meanwhile their sister wants to fuck me just cause I'm a 6-2 white dude. I spose if that were me I might end up schizoposting about hidden tigers or volga hurricanes too.

Mexicans tho, yeah they're alright. Occasionally some of the girls are even cute.

I need to formalize my stop loss procedures and stick to them. It's the same song and dance every time. Unironically I'm going back to shorter dated options vs 20-30 DTEs. Cheaper premiums and if I sell them the broker limits how many contracts I can sell so I feel like my losses were naturally smaller. What do? Curves were inverted in 2019 yes, cash was hard to come by and it was causing issues in overnight rates, with the spike up to 10% on SOFR in early 2020, breaking the fed corridor. Yes it means a stock (and all assets) crash against the dollar some time in the next year.

...probably quite soon. By my estimation, the folks in charge want to get the psychological aspects of the recession over with as quickly as possible so that child molester in the oval office can get re elected in 2024 on how he turned around the recession in record time.

Incoming dumps on the stock market will be sudden and drastic.

It will be good to be a gambler of 0dte SPY puts.

It did help us out, because China has been making headways into global markets for a decade now, basically ever since they switched from an industrial economy in the early 00’s. Currently about 70% of the worlds oil contracts are settled in USD and about 20% are settled in Yuan, among other commodities trade that has underpinned the Petrodollar hegemony for our lifetime. Anything American can do to retain the Chinese labor economy while staving off the Chinese financial economy is very good for us, and covid did that in spades, disrupting the Chinese market immensely.

My SILJ calls are leaps. They expire Jan 2024 and were cheap AF.

When the market bottoms, gold and silver tend to skyrocket due to their safe haven nature. Additionally, the only way out will be mega inflation at that point. I suspect we see silver and gold prices only dip slightly as the market tanks, and yes miners will take a hit, but in late 2024 you should see silver hit $50 per oz or maybe as high as triple digits or higher depending on inflation.

Essentially its a short term hedge (in case of a sudden pivot and money printing) and a medium term big money play, especially because junior miners tend to far outperform the underlying asset and become part of their own speculatory bubble (like shitcoins) when silver has a massive run.

That wouldnt be the fed. It'd be demand for the dollar skyrocketing into a deflationary nightmare which prompts countries to default on their debts and then massive bank defaults in the US and then countries leave the dollar and then you get hyperinflation in the US domestically.

Essentially its possible SPY goes to 200 before rocketing to like 20000 but it wont matter because itll be 20000 zimbabwe dollars
