I have a vision that came to me 5 or so years ago. I can see myself standing on a hill with a pregnant wife beside me. It is a beautiful summer's day. We are wearing medieval clothing and there is a large gathering/event at the bottom of the hill. When this reality manifests, I know I will have made it.

Having a large enough passive income to afford a confortable living, large house included, and being able to live as a gentleman-scholar, translating ancient and medieval mathematical, travel diaries and religous texts from Latin, Greek, Arabic, Persian and Sanskrit into English until I depart from this gay planet.

Some think money, comfort, or fame. Some just want a family and to be loved. Others aspire to goals or dreams like starting a successful business. Hell some people just want to be left alone. What you want is purely a question that you must define.

I honestly believe that most people "make it" if they stay away from drugs, continuously save money, get regular exercise, maintain a healthy diet, avoid/expunge bad relationships, keep good friends around, and occasionally socialize. Be humble/grateful but ambitious at the same time. Be happy to be alive. You may not achieve fame or fortune but this is a pretty proven path to happiness.

Figure out yourself first and who you are as a person. What's your personality type? What do you like? Who do you like to hang around? What do you spend your free time doing?

What could you be? Are you the best version of yourself right now or could you improve? Could you make the world a better place? How? Where and how would you have the most impact? Can you build something to leave behind? How would you get there? Come up with a plan. Ask yourself each day with each choice.... how does this choice help me reach my goals?

Once you set your goals up you can aim for them in 5, 10, or 15 years. Whatever they are. Lastly, don't ever be afraid to fail but be deathly afraid to stagnate.

Remember that you are only half as great as you could be in 5 years. It takes courage and change, but you will make it. And once you do you can make the world and your town, society, whatever, a better place.
