I could have doubled my account on VIX long calls when pelosi flew to Taiwan (but was too schizo to take the profit), I sold a 0 DTE naked short strangle for $40 and then RUSSIA BOMBED NATO ALLY POLAND tanked the market and i panic bought to close the naked put for $500 on an initial $20 premium collected. By the time i was off the phone with my broker who i needed to make the trade because it put me below the $25k threshold and my account was frozen, the market had recovered fully and i would have been safe. Each time i look for the lesson to be learned and idk, just seems like its all gambling. There is no statistical analysis. the greeks are a meme. I'm trying to treat this "game" so seriously like i did with my career but idk if the lesson is to take it more seriously or less. Same bro, I used to do statistical analyses, actually study trends but it honestly got me nowhere. I've had more luck just sticking to my gut and just doing it but since I lost a great deal from misplays, I try to limit the risk I take on now and as a result make smaller gains. I suppose that's what I have to trade in - astronomical gains just to be safe and not lose it all in one go. But then again, seeing the positions you were in rip up is a horrible feeling, literally the catalyst for my revenge trades last week that made me lose so much money on the jpowell speech since I kept tripling down on puts.

no i need to do some homework on ATR. I just have a maximum position size in mind and a maximum loss % in mind but i always end up breaking both rules. I use VWAP, Volume at Price, and 2.5 standard deviation Bollinger Bands, along with MACD and RSI meme indicators. The VWAP and Volume at Price are recent additions to my charts though. Sometimes I feel like im just being tested on my willpower to hold. I've held $30k of puts for 11 days from -80% to +1% so i know how much these things can and do move. its just the mental toll it takes on me when my initial entry was just a scalp vs a multi day play, and the previous losses in those situations weigh on me when i think about how much i have chopped my account down. I think I'm going to take a break for a bit, reload my account when i take a distribution next year and go back to selling options

So, of you have a $30,000 account, you would risk $3,000 on options 4 months out with no S/L. Any other way is beyond your ability right now.
