Looking for advice from staking icpchads. I'm looking to stake 10k icp, but I want to understand what I'm doing a bit first. Yesterday as a first experiment I created a neuron with 10 icp, locked with 8 year dissolve delay, and I set it to follow Dfinity Foundation on everything.
As I check maturity after a day has passed, I have 0.00054249 maturity. That seems a bit little, if I had added my 10k icp that would have yielded about 0.5 icp per day, or 1.83% annual yield.
What am I doing wrong? Is the yield not daily, but more in bursts and depending on when there are many proposals being voted on, so I could I expect a higher average yield per week, or month? Or should I be following someone else than Dfinity Foundation - I think they abstain from some votes?
I'm also curious if anyone knows - if I want to stake for a year, is it better to set dissolve delay to 1 year and start dissolving immediately, or set 6 months dissolve delay and start dissolving after 6 months?

Vote rewards are much larger then daily reward and you get non dissolve bonus that takes 2 years I believe

It's because governance votes are the one that yields a lot and there is a delay of 3-4 days before you receive a nice maturity amount.

Follow actives neuron then forget 4 days and you will see accurate staking rewards.

It is better to just stake 6 months and then not dissolve.
Because if you start dissolving a 6 month neuron you will lose your rewards and the age of the neuron which give a nice amount.

The best strategy right now is Long term to stake 8 years never dissolving 20% of your icp stack.

Short term to stake 80% of your pees inside a 6 months neuron that you will start dissolving after bitcoin 2024 halving so that you are ready to sell next bull market in 2025
