Reposting my question from yesterday's thread since it got no traction there:

I'm experimenting with the idea of a positive carry dividend portfolio ie. investing a lump sum into a range of high yielding dividend stocks, getting a loan based on the yield of that lump sum, and reinvesting the loan into that same portfolio then paying it off and going at it again etc. I've mostly been a cryptobro so forgive me if I sound like a retard, I haven't really been into stocks since way back in the shkreli days.

Commodity oriented stocks taking up the majority or all of the portfolio would obviously be the best option with which to carry this strategy out (besides ETFs) due to many of them paying out good dividends so that's why I'm here. I would appreciate any input or opinions on this and how you feel about my concept.
It should also be noted that this wouldn't be 100% of my stock holdings either and I would also create a growth oriented side to derisk it a bit, though that's kind of obvious in itself but I feel like it should be mentioned.

Supposedly Gary Savage has many years of experience analyzing financial markets and actually shares his insights with his premium subscribers regularly on his forums - I wouldn't mind being a fly on the wall even if I don't personally feel the need to interact with Gary Savage, I could probably learn a lot!

How much was it again? $75 for Gary Savage's premium subscription? That's approximately equivalent to three silver coins or a golden nugget, just to get access to Gary Savage's nuggets of wisdom!
Seems like an easy choice, I bet it would pay off in no time at all (if Gary Savage is really as good as they say).

Now that interesting and hilarious! Ok, bit of a story with this bit of news. Back in the early part of last spring, there was a serious leak of cyanide at Osisko's QR Mill site. The mill was put on hold indefinitely and ore started piling up at their Bonanza Ledge mine site. This was a serious problem, as their permits were not for proper mining but for a bulk test project. They could only have a specific amount of ore on site at any given time. The mine quickly overloaded their two on site and off site storage locations but couldnt mill any of the ore or send it back underground, as the Bonanza Ledge was put on mothball status due to cost over runs.

Osisko must be trying to find a way to stop the bleeding at all costs for Bonanza Ledge, they cant have that ore sitting there too long or risk a fine.
>>52719873
Craigmont Copper Mine has been out of action for decades and any new mine would need to work on cleaning up the previous operations mess first. Thats why Nicola has been hiring its mill out to tolling, to raise funds and to pay down debt.

fracking sand is what ive been delving into, trying to learn. im skeered of volatile energies that can change on a whim, a tweet, or some govt decree
the underlying industries that provide essential materials and services to energy producers seems to be, for me, less risk and higher potential upside as we enter into a commodities driven cycle

ah yes fracking sand was the other category. I'm primarily a mining developer investor, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I dont really see a need for fracking sand. Especially with lots of other source of oil coming to market with high prices. Fracking seems like the solution to eternal crabbing, but with higher prices there are clearly better options. I'm primarily interested in concrete sand.

Why are you so interested in fracking sand? Is my assumption about fracking only being worthwhile in crab market wrong?

In high school we played that stock trading game with a fake account and I won 2nd place in my state by turning a $10k fake investment into several million dollars over a period of a few months using cyclical penny stocks that fluctuated predictably on a weekly basis.

However that was back in the 80's before computer trading made that strategy obsolete. Also it failed to take into account problems with liquidity and difficulty shorting penny stocks. And it mostly ignored broker fees and completely ignored taxes.
Irl what I did on paper doesn't work anymore, if it ever did. The principle still works, but now it's algorithms spotting the cyclical stock and making fractions of a cent on multimillion dollar investments. None of which I can do.

I'm pretty old, we were getting prices from the newspaper and trading on actual paper. Got my picture in the newspaper but even then I knew I couldn't actually do it irl. I think back then you needed $2k to start a trading account and even more to short anything. That was quite a lot of money for a teenager in the 80's. >what were the variables you weighed most heavily? with regard to the cycles
In order of importance:
1. predictability. Stocks that pumped and dumped on the same days each week for at least 3 weeks straight
2. cheapness. The cheaper the stock the more I could buy creating leverage
3. speed of the oscillation. A stock that pumped twice a week is better than one that pumped once a week or less
4. range of the pump. A stock that pumped 20 cents was better than one that pumped 5 cents.

The stock I actually won with pumped twice a week from a cent to about 20 cents, regular as clockwork. These cycles weren't random. They were created by investors doing in real life what I was doing on paper. I don't think that can happen anymore but it was very common in the 80's with penny stocks.

>im cripplingly retarded when it comes to computers.
OBS is retard proof. You open it, can see clearly exactly what it's recording, make sure "enable desktop audio" is ticked so your video has sound, press "record" and play the video. End "record" when it's over and you have an mp4 file of whatever you just recorded in "My Videos" or whereever it saves to. If that's too confusing use a guide on youtube. Screen recording is simple as fuck.

>why would learning this help you, specifically?
I have very good pattern recognition and a good eye for numbers, lines and trends. All I need is strong and reliable information from someone with more knowledge than me (Ira) to learn from so I can up my trading/investing game further. The free videos have been invaluable but I need to expand.
>learning is always good but what is your incentive outside of potential profits?
The incentive of profits is essentialy the game. I'm not one of these "Make It(tm) on one trade, move to the bahamas and buy a lambo" living-on-a-postcard retards. I understand making it means being able to sustain it. Everything I've ever been good at seems to lend itself to being good at so I just need more education in the field. I'm much more interested in TA than DD desu, I'm better at it and it just excites me more.

i dont see a comex silver squeeze without a bankrun type catalyst, such as industrial demand standing for delivery on piles of futures contracts as their bean counters would recognize that the financial instruments of PM futures trading werent as profitable as buying enough metal to continue operations long term.
kinda like GMAC made more money financing vehicles than GM did building them, but in reverse. what good is 50k oz futures contract on AG if you cant stay in biz for more than a couple of years without physical AG for your product line?
the comex silver squeeze will coincide flawlessly with cyberterror and/or cbdc launch, leaving us silver stackers without recourse or avenues to exchange/sell our physical on a conventional above board white market like walking into your LCS and leaving with cash.
physical PMs will be our underlayment for a parallel economy outside of that system

athabasca is brought up here occasionally, and theyre into frac sand, amongst other aggregates and materials, but they dont own their own trucks. this logistical issue is one of the main expenses in that field. this is why walmart did so well for so long is they hurriedly became the largest trucking company on the planet hauling other companies products to their retail stores. economies of scale you know.
turns out shle, source energy services, doesnt own their trucking either. could be a deal breaker for me if i was investing on a much much larger scale than tossing my pocket change in.
i can see how maintaining a fleet of rigs and a team of drivers may not be efficient on such a small scale. so from what i gather theyre doing their own "style" of dispatching, scheduling, monitoring, etc via their self proclaimed "real time analytics technology".
sounds like something i could do with a CB and a rolodex. sadly none ive found have logistical solutions further than drawing maps on dusty windows of dump trucks with a wet finger

>what do you think, initially, of this frac sand thing im onto?
I like it because you're looking into who supplies the suppliers but I suspect we have enough frac sand on hand to complete the next few hundred years of drilling and I expect we'll run out of oil and gas sooner than sand. Also frac sand is the best proppant but other materials certainly work, and lately I'm hearing that the shale wells we're fracking don't require nearly as much propping as we're giving them.

but on the flip side, the feds aren't going to let oil and gas do a quick 5x, but that could certainly happen in sand or even water in the oilfields. The gov will regulate the hell out of energy costs to the consumer but don't really give a fuck about producer's costs.

Overall you might be on to something but I think silver and gold and plat group and RE are better positioned to take off in the near future, and you know I'm not really bullish on any of those. Not bullish enough to buy anyways.

I'm flattered to be asked but if I'm honest my skills are still very much at the amateur level operating on free information. I claim an affinity and talk a big potential game but I still lack the legit deep knowledge that comes with the courses on my to-do list, which is why I rarely share my own charts. I'd hate to give you any bad advice as my big-picture TA is still lacking. I'm happy to look at anything but honestly someone like Red will do a much better job than me until I've studied more. I'm confident in my potential but I've been very complacent lately having most of my positions already so I've sat around with my thumb in my ass instead of learning.

I was too early on snowline too but followed it closely and added two more times on the way down including the bottom at 0.25. I guess the lesson is to do DD and figure out the best risk/reward stories and average down on your highest conviction stocks. I sold a few at a loss along the way too in order to rotate the money into better companies. Or I could be an idiot that just got lucky.

I'm happy to give you my thoughts at least, just take em lightly.

Looking at SHLE for example, it's broken both the downtrend in early Oct and the larger downtrend in late Oct, but then failed to break the 200dma (green line) twice, the second being a lower high but then a higher low so it's just consolidating into a wedge. It's got a lot of support in the form of the 18, 50 and 100 dmas (red purple and yellow).
To me it looks like it's next stop is around 1.65 where the moving average supports combined with the uptrend support may save it, to then hopefully break the wedge upwards past the 200dma where the next resistance is 2.23. Otherwise it's riding that bigger downtrend line further down, but damn that's a lot of support it has to fall through first.

If I'm way off then maybe it'll bait someone into giving you a better analysis.

I still hold a ton of shares. The CEO has the mine on care and maintenance mode while he waits for silver to go higher. I’ve read a lot about mining the last couple years and apparently it’s pretty common for mining companies to basically shut down operations and do nothing during pullbacks in metals prices. That has been the case for decades. But apparently BHS is taking this to the extreme by doing all this extra busy work and needing new rounds of funding for it. The problem with investing in a mining company whose CEO believe in precious metals price suppression is that they will spend literally years just fucking around and diluting shareholders rather than sell their metals at suppressed prices. So it’s frustrating as a shareholder but I understand the CEO’s thought process. The dilution sucks and I’m down far too much to even consider selling so I’m just going to hold on in the hopes that maybe 2023 will see silver go above $30 and the company can restart mining operations and start selling concentrate.

If you're talking about working miners, we don't really track metals prices and we don't usually know at what prices the mine will shut down.

Mostly because with enormous open pit and huge underground projects, the mines run on razor thin margins so the price of metal isn't really much of a factor. Also they have huge stockpiles of cash so they can continue to operate at a loss for years if they want to. And they sell metals for steady prices over periods of years using futures contracts. And they sell metal for less than spot.

things like rising fuel prices and labor costs are way more important than metal prices unless metals severely crash, which they haven't. This is a major mistake /cmmg/ has always made. Thinking mining companies rise and fall with metals prices alone. But since almost every investor is making the same mistake it actually affects markets.

Yup. Nothing consumes resources faster than shutting down an operation. They probably use twice as much diesel with the gate closed than open. All that overtime adds up too. They probably had to hire a few new hands to stay closed. Reverse of lay offs like other industries that slow down, in mining when you're closed you need all hands on deck, 12 on 12 off.

>>52766200
>Sets the price
To keep it from running away. Can't you even into nickel?
Why didn't they just drop that big dick when the hunt brothers bought so much?
Why doesn't the government just set the price for everything so it doesn't get too high? Maybe they could hire more jannies to check everyone's finances unless they own private islands that will be literally underwater in two (2) moar weeks unless we install communism to pacify the sky god?
Shit they could let everyone own a home buy just marking down uncapitalized (according to a totally science based arbitrary number completely made up by hand picked and vetted useful idiots who would lose funding if they found anything outside of their fundings scope) properties?
Damn now that you mention it, we should just take all the extra homes and land people own and set the price so low that everyone can afford a home and land? I'm sure that your price controls would function flawlessly, as long as labor and equity is tamped down
Shit. Fuck it. Let's have the govt set all the prices so they can never run away, not just for gold, but for for boomet property that would surely go uncapitalized, since the govt is so fucking efficient at setting the prices of gold. Gold sits in safes, uncapitalized to the detriment of (insert commie rationale here).
Homes and land are vastly undercapitalized compared to gold and there is no guarantee that some boomer faggots kids will be able to maintain (due to evil capitalism) the (government mandated) values. Therefore all prices should be set or enforced by the government.

I did t know I was a commie until now lads. Let's have the government set the prices of land and homes. How are they different from gold or any other thing?

Has anyone ever wondered why they don't halt trading of a commodity if the price falls too much too fast?
Naturally the government HAS TO step in if it goes to high too fast because (insert communist buzzword here).

Can anyone show where commodities trades of any kind were halted because the price was in free fall?
Member when oil was so cheap they were giving it away instead of stockpiling it or simply slowing production? Member when they halted oil trading because it plummeted overnight?

Yeah. Me neither
>Oh fugg.
>Prices are too cheap!
>Shut it down!
Deflationary cycles would destroy the consumer by lowering costs too much, resulting in higher purchasing power for the same wages, potentially creating a downward spiral of both, mitigated slightly by increases in quality instead of quantity, which would result in lower tax revenue
How awful would that be? Imagine the horror

In 2020 it was supposed to happen in 2021, and 2021 was papered over by globally unprecedented fiat printing.

Personally I believe in 2023. There is a 6-18 month lag on a most macro economic casues-effects, and a lot of that is just starting to materialize now and I expect will really start to snowball into next year. Megacorps cutting tens of thousands of jobs this year for example will really only impact the wider economy after at least 6 months+ when the impacts of reduced spending and debt defaults start to appear. Depending on local real estate market liquidity, interest rates could take up to a year to materialize in prices (meaning most areas are still priced at Dec 2021 interest rates). Contagion of all these processes is real but takes time to filter through the economy.

Honestly this doesn't necessarily mean that commodity prices will moon in fiat terms, as a greater recession/depression may cause a drop in all prices, but if not then I expect commodity prices to at least fare much better than alternative sectors (as has already been happening through 2022).

My thesis remains the same: if we're going into credit/fiat contraction the best place to be is bonds/fiat (second best is commodities and worst is credit-dependent markets like big tech, financials, real estate, etc), if instead this is papered over by further credit/fiat expansion (printing) the best place to be is commodities (second based is real estate, then other equity sectors) and worst will be bonds/fiat. If you don't know which outcome will happen, commodities are the best overall risk/reward, so that's where I put my money.

scam horse does not have a mining permit, so they cannot "restart" mining operations. scam horse never submitted a complete mining permit application and the application is cold and dead. Why don't you call the Oregon mining folks who have the dead permit application and talk to them about what a scam scamhorse is instead of claiming you understand the "CEO's thought process." There is this new thing called a telephone, you just call them. Try it. After you talk to the mining regulators you can call the CEO yourself.

I don't own any shares but have been keeping an eye on Honey Badger (TUF). They have morphed into a lifestyle company of late from the looks of it and the market cap is down to only 5 million. They are doing a reverse split in the near term and likely following it up with some dilution, which may provide a good entry price (I am hoping around the 3 million market cap range). Sprott owns a bunch and they picked up some property in the Yukon in the Tintina belt, if they hit anything there it's anyone's guess where the market cap goes, but that part of the world is hot right now as much as anything PM related can be hot. If we are patient there could be a good risk/reward setting up after the split and hopefully a big raise for drilling some holes up there.

Some Pajeet interviewed Rowland and he said:
>Value proposition is just as high now or higher than when is was trading at $4.50 in August"

Of course we all expected that, but at least we know for sure where the minimum is.
And if he's confident enough to openly state that the price is at least that before the FS drops, that's a very conservative estimate.
It's basically free money to jump into this at the moment before it takes off, which it probably will since this entire thing could very well play out entirely within few months and be bought out soon after the FS.
If we manage to see $10 out of this I'll be very happy. If more then great, which is entirely possible all things considered.
