You missed the part where higher rates are now good. Companies can buy treasury bonds and use the interest to cover their previously issued bonds and while still having more interest income to invest in share buy backs and capex.

It’s literally free money. Before it was free money cause you could take out loans for nothing and buy your stock back now it’s free money cause you can take your profits and loan the money to the government and make money to buy your stock back.

People complicate the market more than they have to. It’s really quite simple; is the FED doing a thing? If yes, buy stocks. If no, they will later so buy stocks.

Stocks go up

>so isnt that bullish news?
No, the Fed always said that they would eventually slow the rate hikes once they got passed neutral. The level we are slowing at now is way more than what the market expected a few months ago. Powell himself said that 75bps wouldn't be common and then hiked 75bps four times in a row. Even if the Fed paused right now at 4% it would be very bearish for stocks. The entire global economy is built on cheap USD and forever declining rates. 5%+ FFR held for a year is absurd levels of bearish. The market is pumping because it is in denial. It simply can't accept that the Fed will hold the FFR at 5% until the economy cracks so it's created a mass delusion where everything Powell says is dovish. There are a lot of similarities between the covid mass delusion and the dovish pivot mass delusion.

Doesn’t matter, government en pays either directly or indirectly around 50% of everyone in the country. PE is literally irrelevant and has never mattered. Stocks go up because stocks go up. People need shit, nobody produces their own shit anymore so they buy it from companies, the government subsidizes everything, the money will flow into equities because the people who control the money flows own equities.

It’s really not that difficult to understand.

Is the S&P ludicrously overvalue? Of course it is. It would take the better part of a century just to break even on your investment from SPY dividends. After inflation you will literally never break even on revenue even if you head for a thousand years.

Does that mean it will decline? Absolutely not.

Stocks go up, that is the entire purpose of them, so just buy stocks cause they go up. Why will they go up? Cause stocks go up.

Yep, /pol/ was wrong again, what a shocker. And yes, vaccines have been killing people since their creation. Modern medicine has been killing people since it's inception. I do agree that I think there are certain types of people that are predisposed to having problems with it. But every single person I know in my life that took it is alive and well and not having any problems, but they never had any problems with previous vaccines either. I mean you won't see me go in for any boosters but, if it was designed to kill, there would be, WAY more deaths than we are seeing right now. Modern medicine is just shit. It's no different than any other business. It puts profits before people, but if you kill your customers how the fuck are you going to drive up profits. It literally makes no sense for a pharma company to do that.

I think that'd be a much bigger problem than what you're describing, people capable of doing much more strenuous or intense work deciding to just say fuck it and get a part time at a car dealership or something. The ones that just lay down and refuse to work are suicidal to begin with, they're not changing their mind and are broken people - I'm just refusing to do anywhere near what I could do because the compensation doesn't match and I'm not going to reward behavior I find reprehensible and treasonous with excess taxes beyond the bare minimum required to keep their thugs off my lawn.

I never gave a shit about any of that, if people wanted to get the vaccine to protect themselves then they should have that right the same way people that don't want to get it should have that right as well. The issue is that those two concepts were so duplicitously handled in practice as compared to theory that people were being forced out of careers which certainly caused deaths of despair to not even mention the societal division the whole kerfuffle instigated and still fucking does. It was an exceptionally shitty flu, and I'm sorry it's killed millions of people, but it's literally not my problem and attempting to take peoples bodily autonomy away from them is heretical. And in saying that before some troon comes in with a "whatabout abortion" I think that shit should be available at a fucking drive thru because if someone's dumb enough to kill a baby they definitely don't need to be forced to raise it.

I 100% agree with you. I think the world panicked and thought covid was going to be way worse than it ended up being but you also have to look at where we live compared to others. The United States is very open and spread out unlike places like India and china. Covid was literally rotting the population in India, so much so that they were threatening the lives of doctors to get a vaccine. I think the technology has tremendous potential but it very clearly needs a lot of work and the government just said fuck it let's try it which was a big mistake. It's also interesting to note that, a Russian study showed that drinking alcohol after taking the shot up to 40 days after killed the efficacy of the vaccine which is also an interesting read. Kind of a random point but I still found it interesting.

10y bond will yield less than 2% in real terms if inflation goes back to baseline. If you think that's anything close to a good yield, you're delusional. You've been tricked by 10 years of retard QE policy.
Anyway, suppose they start cutting short term rates, inflation is going to the roof. 6M has a 1% premium right now over 10y, and you're crazy if you think it's going back to zero any time soon. The best "easing" we can expect is for hikes to slow down and eventually stop. The fed is trapped. If rates die, the dollar sure as hell dies with them and you're better off avoiding fixed income entirely.

So again, it's all forced buyers and arbitrage. No one is buying this shit for income.
Maybe there are still a few suckers slurping up that 60/40 split too. Especially in 401ks. Feel bad for those guys. The bond portion of their 60/40 has literally underperformed cash over a 5 year period, and I mean as a total return, accounting for dividends. That's all passive money anyway though, essentially forced buyers since they're following the mandate of that dumb ratio. Personally, I've shifted my retirement portfolio to 60/40 a few times when the market seems overvalued, but I always go 40% cash or short term treasuries. Long term is just hopeless - all that currency risk for no almost reward.

But this did happen though; a member of the family died not due to the vaccine (didn't take it), but due to age and covid both. Covid knocked him down big time. This is the only sane take on the whole jab/no jab thing, if you're predisposed to getting shitdicked by the coof then you should probably get it and if you're not then you probably shouldn't. I have no idea why such a sane idea isn't more prevalent. Although tbqh I'm kinda fuckin' tired of talking about the jab after almost three years of the bullshit, thank christ I live in a state that doesn't have its head all the way up its ass.

no. Because most people know the Fed could only hike so high, and Jerome today basically confirmed what the market had priced it: likely 1 more hike, then hold and observe. It could move up for a few more days...BUT, obviously if the market moves much more than 5% up from where it ended today, many people will sell. There's still a lot of fear. Fear and greed both. I feel it as well. We're all the same now...no one wants to be left out of a face-ripping bull run, but no one wants to hold a falling knife either. It's hard for any of us to tell, unless you're friends with people in politics like Pelosi, or Fed members.

I was horsing around on the FRED site, and this chart looked interesting: https://fred.stlouisfed.org/graph/?g=X1HR (same as pic-attached, but you can fool around with it on their site). Basically, I noticed that housing permits are in decline prior to pretty much any recession, and even often decline prior to equities... which makes sense...long projects need more security to start. Any anons (literally any of you) smarter than me want to comment on the current market and where you think it will go over this next year? .....Powel today seemed pretty confident he could soft land this thing, and I partially believe him, but then I see the yield curves and charts such as picrel, and I feel less confident.

I wanted to add too, that when I see the new picrel, it makes me feel like we are actually in the buy zone. I mean, where else will people park there money? What's more secure, equities, real estate, dollars, or treasuries? In some ways, I think equities are.
...typically DJI is higher than DJI/income, and when the two converge, DJI goes on a bull run. Same can be said when pricing DJI in terms of money supply.
