This is why I find it hard to believe in SETF and suspect that a lot of them are ex-crypto tourists. Anybody with a good understanding of how fucked the economy is MUST also know that the population have been demoralised to the point of accepting anything the government gives them. Does nobody remember covid and Putlerflation convincing normalfags that inflation was morally good because we were saving the world and owning Russia?

Gold is one thing because its value going up over time is fact, but whenever I ask questions about silver the replies are always in the vein of "You're not investing, you're betting on one aputannia buying you a loli harem and paying the roving gangs of feral fiatfags to tend your 200 acre garden" and then I worry about being called a FUD so I usually don't respond. What makes it so much more crucial than gold to the point where I should pay a mandatory 20% government premium?

Sorry, I worded that poorly. I remember Max Kaiser saying on Russia Today that silver would pass $1000/oz in the early 2010s so I know it's not a new thing, what I mean is precious metals has a lot more eyes on it since the FTX massacre and it feels like a lot of new people here have jumped on the "to the MOON 100000% stonks" bandwagon for quick dopamine. Silver isn't a memecoin but people seem to want them to be that way with all the pepe/wojak casts being pumped out like fidget spinners. It also feels like a lot of the anti-gold posting is from younger posters who can't afford it but want to stack anyway.

This Act explicitly prohibits the hoarding of PMs mainly gold and silver. You are therefore legally obliged to surrender your private stash in return for a 5% of its total value which will be credited in digital USD to your private bank account, if your digital score so allows it.

In case you refuse to abide by the stipulated terms you will face incarceration of no less than 10 years with no possibility of parole and fine of up to $500k. We know exactly how much silver and gold you have in your possession, so it is not worth it coming with excuses like "lost it all in a boating accident". I'm not a fan of using a GSR as a guide for purchasing. Both PMs are proverbial fruit, but apples and oranges. Gold is mostly used for backing (a percentage of) currencies and has some very high-tech and specific purposes, whereas silver has widespread industrial uses besides being less so for storing nation-sized wealth (mostly due to sheer volume required - it's like why stacking copper is impractical for most people, though profitable).
If you like the gold piece, get it. Gold is a little high right now, but is it has room to grow even in conventional times. Silver is a bit low, but crunch the numbers and you'll find a single purchase here and there doesn't matter over time. Go with what piece speaks to you.

I would very much agree that silver is the better investment at the current g/s ration. This however doesn't mean that gold is a bad purchase overall, quite the opposite. I would argue that if you wanted to keep your precious metal stack small and easily hidden go with gold. The amount of gold that most people would be able to purchase could easily be hidden someplace in your house and be so small that it would be entirely conspicuous. A similar dollar amount of silver would be very heavy and take up more space. Once a person has their own weight in silver it's fair to say you have enough to move into gold almost exclusively. Another aspect to consider is that gold has lower premiums if that's a concern to anybody, at these prices even with premiums silver is extremely underpriced regardless.

Gold and silver complement each other very well in functioning as money, gold being more value dense for larger purchases and silver for smaller purchases. it is imperative that you have both at some point, even if you only plan on trading silver for gold when the ration decreases closer to the historic average g/s ration of 1/15,

Don't know where you got that number, but I'm checking. My source is spelled out in the image. Go argue with them if you don't like what they say.
So let's say silver was 83 cents. You'd have needed 5,840 coins in 1953 versus 1719 today. That makes holding Eagles even better - you'd be using one-third as many coins instead of 3 times. For generic, about three-quarters. You're still doing better than generic. The point is, there is a numismatic value that increases with time above and beyond the metal on its own.

I'm not sure why you're so torqued by this.
You cannot possibly argue that buying generic bars is going to give you a better return in the long tun over coin - in particular, the Eagle. Take your pic whatever else.

I'll agree that the use of the use of the price of silver was a mistake. Big deal. You're the one who brought up the price of 83 cents, and so I fixated on using your number. You're right - I shouldn't have listened to you and gone right to the $1 value for the coins.

So here's the revised capture.

It still shows Eagles (by example, but I'm sure other coins could be used) versus generic.

I'm sorry you pushed all your savings into generic, but you'll still make it. Just not as much as coinfags.

If you don't like this spreadsheet, make one yourself to prove your point (whatever that is).

No I’m talking specifically the USA. Maple leaf sales REQUIRE reporting but only over 25oz so really most people won’t be effected aside from serious investors / speculators but still. This is the reason. Volume traders need to report their gains on maples whereas the US ones they do not. American coins don’t require reporting at any amount.

Still - $1 eagle was $1 in 1953. So no, it doesn't matter, and I don't know what your point is, other than you used a different source of info.

Also, I'm not an Eagle shill. I used Eagles as an example because it was used in the original Corvette meme. I advocate generally for any *currently issued* coin over generic as having the potential for numismatic increase above and beyond what generic gets at the time.

Oh idk about silver maples. You are probably good on those. Silver is silver. ASEs are expensive cause people love America and Americans are rich so demand is high. I just know for gold coins that’s the deal with taxes.

Now if you go unload 50k of silver to a dealer they may or may not report the sale. Idk I’m not a tax attorney but I do know that maples and certain things require reporting over that threshold cause I had been told it and I looked it up.

Me personally? I’d drive to several shops and sell in small lots if I ever had to cause the gas price, even though it may be 10$ a gallon after bidenflation is fully priced in, will be worth it to not pay tax cause fuck them. If the government needs more money to send to Israel they can print it. Same as it ever was.

Make sure you space it out and diversify. Think of gold and silver purchases as money that’s just going away to bills or whatever. Never to be seen again.

Anything you need liquid should be in liquid publicly traded markets; GDX is best in my opinion but more direct metal plays are GLD or SLV if you want it in straight metals cause if you have to liquidate for life events the premiums of physical will rape you.

Make no mistake; physical gold and silver is a novelty. Physical is only valuable in a total apocalypse scenario whereupon other things like food, clean water, tobacco and alcohol will appreciate exponentially more than metals.

If you are “””stacking””” a commodity for the apocalypse you should be buying bottles of whiskey.

Seriously do you think the comex can’t deliver? all us in pmg could pool our ape fire net worth, mortgage our house (implying you poor fats own houses), extend a branch to leddit trannies, start a go fund me, and take physical delivery on what, maybe a few silver contracts?

There is no shortage of actual metals vs what is actual in demand for physical delivery. None. Are there more contracts than exist in deliverables? Of course. By a wide margin. Most are held by banks and shit that have no intentions of stealing with the hassle of taking delivery. That it the entire point of the paper market.

You people are god damned retards. Don’t you understand trading and speculation? If more people wanted actual metals the price would be higher. The metals exists but aren’t needed. Gold and silver can be produced for around 50% the current spot prices.

>any legitimate beefs about this new version?

That looks pretty good now anon, however you opened a can of worms by allowing numismatic value appreciation to factor in. You can't recognize the enhanced collector value above silver value of circulated silver dollars without also recognizing the extraordinary appreciation seen in bars of the "generic" bullion that would have been available to a stacker in the 1950s. For example these San Francisco ingots are a more common type of bar among those which would have been floating around 70 years ago, and they sell for $200+/ozt (over $240/oz for this one) which bends over and brutally buttfucks your silver dollars at only $31 each or around $40/oz. I find it suspicious too, but the whole scam works by showing they have PLENTY of metal.
Even if the amount of registered silver was at an all time high, somehow 75% of it disappeared because some small fringe minority of schizo autists started buying it all up?
That makes it even more suspicious to me.
I have a hunch this was a set up, as in, an insider watched all the shit they do behind closed doors and started acting against it at the right moment when there's the most silver they had so people start buying it all up. This way, they lose a lot of physical silver and it ends up spread all around in the hands of everyone.
There's no way they're dumping bags, they can print how much paper currency they want, they would not need to sell some rare precious resource to acquire even more of it, they print it lmao, that's why inflation even exists in the first place. I see no way they could profit from this if we keep buying physical silver and not sell it back to them.

Go for it. I’m not saying don’t buy; I’m saying that thinking there is some sort of shortage and “silver squeeze” is straight up retardation.

Silver is a byproduct of mining actually useful metals. Silver is grossly overvalued. I’m still stacking it. I’m a buyer all the way down cause I enjoy it despite knowing it is currently being produced for around 8$/oz in several mines.

Silver is the #1 industrial metal, the second most patented commodity, and, in most applications, is impossible to recycle after it's used.

No evidence but I’d imagine gold. The marines are much greater on what it would take to fake an ounce of gold vs silver. A fake gold bar would probably cost slightly more than what a ten ounce silver bar would while commanding around 10x the price. If I was a chink scamming fat stupid westerners on the internet if sell em 20$ “gold” bars for 1700some od$ vs 18$ “silver” bars for twenty something.

I'm morally opposed to it. Plus I feel like it's gotten enough publicity that it's not gonna shoot up in value.

The temptation is there though to try and profiteer off of it. I just can't bring myself to actually pay for one.

So it should restrict the comparison to fiat vs PM, ignore numismatic/antique boost, but use Morgans as an example because people recognize that.

Or maybe just correct and update the text in that meme and leave it as is.

"Second most patented commodity" means if you count each patent where one commodity is used you'll notice silver is in the 2nd place, right after oil.

Silver isn’t even in the top ten of most used industrial metals.
steel, iron, copper, magnesium, aluminum, brass, zinc, bronze are way wasaaaaasye ahead of silver in usage.

>but precious metals

Silver is the ninety most used “precious” metal by value/weight behind rhodium, platinum, gold, ruthenium, iridium, osmium, palladium, rhenium.

If your thesis is usefulness then you should be “staking” rhodium, platinum or gold well ahead of silver which is by all accounts a trash metal byproduct of mining actually useful metals.

Is silver cool? Yes. Does it have uses? Yes. Is it the best? Not even close.

>So it should restrict the comparison to fiat vs PM, ignore numismatic/antique boost, but use Morgans as an example because people recognize that.

I think it's legitimate and illuminating to reference the market value of Morgan dollars, but not when compared to someone stacking silver bullion that magically didn't appreciate over the decades as well and then claiming that the coin stacker saw better returns than the bullion stacker, that commentary is incorrect and unnecessary. Maybe if they stacked silver shot or common boring manufacturer 1000oz bars but that's unrealistic cherrypicking. Looking at the 1953 car price in silver at $0.85188/oz and modern car cost in silver at the current spot price, and also looking at the current market value of the circulated dollars which would have been used then or saved until now is legit, but trying to make a point about the 1950s coin stackers doing better than their bar stacker friends after 70 years isn't accurate.

Yeah I gotten some 5 oz silver weight pieces recently for $5-10 each, but it's rare for big hits, best you usually do is some silver tourist spoons or some mixed in the cutlery and eating utensil section, and a bit of silver and gold/gold filled in the jewelry section as well, it all adds up.
