I mean I'd also be into Ethereum if it was pegged to $ from the start. It's just a vehicle to popularize distributed ledger tech. That was envisioned somewhen between the 70's and the 90's.
Similarly to how I'm into drones and the math involved, even if that's not something where you can make money. In fact I've "wasted" one, two thousand $ on half a dozen shit drones just to play around with it and track development of the tech and API's.
I've coded Ethereum boardroom anonymous voting algos and the like, which isn't related to any currency - just a sort of app that only becomes possible once you got a platform with private key identification.
Of course once you get a crypto pump you also start gambling with that shit.

Most cryptocurrencies have no use, the only actual usecase that has no (or very poor) alternatives in the real world is buying drugs online, and serving as an alternative money laundering/tax evasion system if/when physical cash gets phased out.

You can make a few edge cases for things like Ethereum which essentially function as a worldwide digital casino that allows you to invest in the chips people use (ETH), but beyond that you see very little real world adoption for this stuff. I can only make reasonable cases for XMR, ETH, and Bitcoin if we're talking value investments and not just gambling on glorified tech stocks we're hoping will moon.

If you don't understand how much value is in crypto, then you don't deserve to become rich. People who actually understand how inefficient our entire financial system is know the value. Anything finance related would benefit from adopting crypto. It cuts costs by ridiculous amounts. It is obviously the future, it's just a question of how it gets implemented and how long it takes.

Bitcoin is legal tax avoidance. If the government funds its operations by printing currency, and you don't use that currency, then your tax rate is effectively zero, possibly negative if you have business expenses and low interest debt. Bitcoin is already guaranteed to outperform government bonds. If and when people spend 5 hours to study how money works and use some common sense then that's at the very least $500,000 per bitcoin, but realistic people catch on at that point and it's no longer priced in dollars.

crypto is a speculation instrument,
not less not more,

instruments are based on commodities or currencies or stocks,
crypto happens to be based on the value that the blockchain gives merely by existing as a mechanism to send money.

nothing will ever change, when you see the world simply, you see that crypto will not dissapear, you see that cycles repeat, sometimes strong pumps sometimes weak ones, sometimes dumps,
you can even follow the cycles with TA,
no matter of seething or praise from 4chan or reddit will change anything,
market makers will come to trade,
dumb people will come to lose their money,
exchanges will counter trade,
there will be ponzis and scams,
once in a while there will be some project that enables cool stuff,
most of the time, there will be copies of stuff,
people will trade perpetual futures, options, leveraged shittokens, worthless nfts.
75% will lose and 25% will win,
and yeah, crypto is probably not going anywhere.

also, people have not yet understood that bitcoin is one of two currencies that derive purely from trust, just like fiat.
this trust is held in machines and algorithms and developers that make them,
fiat trust is derived from a country like USA, its tax payers, companies and its military.

all in all, both need people, equipment and money.
bitcoin tends to be easier to verify though and it is deflationary.
it literally replaces a central bank when people will finally wake up to what is going on.

So is gold.

It is all in peoples heads. Buying something is a bet to say these idiots will pay more for it later.

Because you're all fucking idiots.

Now crypto will be around forever because it has been set up the same way that fiat was. Coercion and possibility.

Instead of being something new and useful. Like a global currency for land swapping used to recreate the GDP evaluation as output of business land from land soze vs efficiency. Every country could contribute to a total and be allocated a bitcoin share market to trade in homes. Some of the market would have to be assigned as housing and handed out by individual governments but it's a fucking genius plan. Would work best with a fiat currency involved with a tax cap of something like 20million. After proven contributions of earning 20mil you are offered a piece of the bitcoin pie and offered an easier oppurtunity to produce in the business market.

Not everyone will understand the. The beauty is, they don't need to. They're natural greed will make them help this process whether they realize it or not.

We didn't drop that hard, yeah. If not for the incident, the new CPI rate release should have increased the value of the market, as it did for stocks then. The possibility of a further decline from this point is possible as long as the sages continue to create a financial shockwave across the board. Fuck SBF. 1) banking is a scam.
they take your money and leverage it 100-1 to inflate the cost of living.
2) it would only take roughly 1% of depositors to pull their money at once, for the pyramid scheme to implode
3) central banks prop up this scam with inflation
4) the dollar has lost 99% of its value since the formation of the federal reserve.
No matter how much you sacrifice and save, it will be worthless by the time you need to retire.
So you have to invest, or work until you’re dead.
5) bitcoin kills two birds with one stone, as savings and investment. Since bitcoin capable of p2p transactions, it’s more efficient than stock as a hedge against currency collapse.
6) getting rich quick is the same as retiring young. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm an Iranian expat. I can't get a credit card where I live because they hate foreign devils. I've used Bitcoin to be able to purchase goods internationally. I've helped family in Iran with it. I've sent it to fund servers run by people I don't know who live in some random country I don't know, and all they had to tell me was what address to send to.

You guys? You try to cheat each other by shilling shitcoins at each other. Same with that r/cryptocurrency subreddit. You pretend Bitcoin is "old tech" and "useless" when in fact it's the only one that has any real acceptance or value.

Ethereum's primary use case seems to be for creating more shitcoins and scams. Chainlink is useless unless there are multiple separate blockchains to link together. I'll grant that both have value right now and MIGHT have some real-world use.

Everything else? Complete shit. You people should be ashamed of yourselves, no matter whether you're shilling shitcoins to each other or dumb enough to buy shitcoins. Especially the fucking retards who push BSV and enable Craig Wright's fraud. Fuck you all, I hope you all crash and burn.

What separates crypto from "just software" is the fact it is decentralized, and for me, the character of the actors that created it.
Bitcoin came up partially as a response to the failure of occupy wallstreet.
There simply is no other thing that will be there to fight CBDCs.
Crypto is the competitor to global hegemon, however in many ways it is pozzed with WEF-tier shit like chainlink. Invest in the future that you believe in.
Many make the argument that Bitcoin is the only actual crypto and lesser arguments for important real alts like Eth and cosmos.
Eth becoming PoS was not really a tech upgrade, it was eth bending the knee to ESG. Mining was what made it different, but perhaps it is too big to fail now, we will have to steer it in the right direction and knock the demon hands off of it.
Decentralization is important because it means bad people cannot use it to subvert and control us. It only means that to an extent however as they try to
You should be moralized however because look how much crypto scares them. It is a legitimate threat to their global control system. It's possible that it is just bitcoin but there are promises from some alts. Look up jae kwon and cosmos for a good example. Look at his twitter. However the other founder of cosmos is jewish.
Chia by Bram Cohen is a good example of a scam. It works sure, but look at the chart.
As long as bitcoin is mined, it will continue to be a competitor to the people who fucked you over in 2008 and now every day.

Yep. Like you said in the next post this is a network of humans trying to actually use the system. Clearly malicious nodes showing they're not interested in that goal can be detected and blacklisted. The specific problem you mentioned was China in which case you can simply block China entirely, creating a stub fork in China maintained by attackers.

>energy "waste"
It finances the production of renewable energy. It's the only way I can be paid for building a small hydro plant in some remote location that otherwise relies on imported fuel.
Increasing grid capacity always results in economic output but there are no direct global incentives except mining. The cost of constantly upgrading hardware has been the major issue holding this process back but the trend has been flattening out so more old miners are still in use than before.
The incentives of mining mean it should never be draining resources but using excesses and adding to that excess power. When it's a drain is like when governments subsidize fuel so simply burning that free fuel for mining becomes profitable for you.

the whole point of investing is to lend capital to a business in the hopes they use it to further the development of their idea, open new shops, advertise and generate revenue.

after some time i expect a return, or a dividend payment/staking reward or both. if i give 5/10k to a small company that has big ideas then i expect a larger return for similarly increase risk and i just have to hope its not a scam.

According to the Cambridge Center for Alternative Finance (CCAF), Bitcoin currently consumes around 110 Terawatt Hours per year — 0.55% of global electricity production, or roughly equivalent to the annual energy draw of small countries like Malaysia or Sweden.
And right now, BTC handles miniscule number of transactions. If we adopted it globally, it would be completely unsustainable. I don't see a point in wasting this much energy, when current system works well without it.

>why would I want my spending to be publicly visible to anyone who knows my wallet address?
Many companies and central banks should be forced to show all money in and out publicly in real time. It's not possible to enforce unless it's on the base layer. Privacy can be implemented on top but then it's always obvious you're implementing privacy measures.

It's true that to most people crypto is just a ponzi but that's because that's all most people are interested in doing with it. Like you they're retarded, they can't conceive of adding real value like by replacing the interbank settlement layer previously mentioned.
If you only use the token to run a ponzi it's still a ponzi that can't be shut down and there's no point at which it's completely over. The technical implementation is clearly superior to previous ponzis. You don't have the imagination to apply that tech to other things than ponzis?
>and breaking glass windows gives incentive to produce more windows
How is this comparable to building new infrastructure in poor areas with little previous demand? These are areas that most benefit economically from a tiny portion of the power output and like previously mentioned access to power translates to economic growth.

>stuff that exists in current financial system
Nope. You're comparing a network that actually works to a group agreeing to some set of rules with no mechanical assurance they'll continue to cooperate.

>stuff that exists in current financial system
What exists in the current system? Mathematically provable assets? Privacy? The ability to avoid being dragged down by failures in local monetary policy? Are you still obsessing about the ability to revert? You don't understand who does that for you or how? There's nothing special about BTC that makes you not able to use those same methods that rely on credit and trust. You have even more options, not fewer. Why do you think you have fewer?
The current system is not a formalized process anyone can analyze, least of all the public. The "system" is a bunch of clowns fighting about nonsense and barely managing to avoid miserable failure enough of the time so a few things eventually get done. It's almost entirely made up of inefficiencies, for every real thing that gets done 100 failed to even start due to how inherently corrupt and broken it all is. In practice this mess is still the most effective "system" apes ever put together so far. It's so easy to improve by a huge margin if only mindless vegetables like you weren't in power.

Yes, more so than Bitcoin. Once someone knows your wallet address, this person can track your spending
> The ability to avoid being dragged down by failures in local monetary policy
Unrelated to currency. If polititians want to manipulate, they will. Reminder that USA got rid of gold standard because it was too good at controlling spending. Not sure what makes people think that polititians will allow anything like that in future
> There's nothing special about BTC that makes you not able to use those same methods that rely on credit and trust
Not legal tender, that's all there is to it. I'm not going to put my money into your pump n dump because it's not recognized as official currency. Might as well put my wealth into sea shells, would be as good as Bitcoin.

Everything you do in the banking system is recorded and assigned to your identity. Again you have more options with BTC not less. You at least have the option of not assigning an identity to an address.
>Unrelated to currency
What is this incoherent horseshit supposed to mean? I don't care about what fits some definition, I care about actually being able to do things like trade out of bad monetary policy. Which I can now, thanks to BTC.
>Not sure what makes people think that polititians will allow anything like that in future

To buy coffee you should be using a local digital currency that can be traded publicly on a global BTC market. You will be able to use BTC using LN, maybe even before the governments figure it out but having local currencies is optimal. Easy digital trading means having more currencies may make sense. The Euro zone is benefiting in some ways from the Euro but also suffering. It may be possible to get the best of both worlds using digital systems backed by a real market like BTC can provide.

They already do spend mind boggling amounts to do that. The justification for the spending is security and accountability, then they get exploited and money goes missing anyway. The interbank settlements can be done with direct LN channels so they can choose how often to settle on chain but all accounts everywhere are still updated instantly. Even doing it daily is still faster than how they do it now and infinitely cheaper. As in a few dollars vs 1% of GDP.

That's your description of the process. All the interbank settlement layer does is settle payments between the local banks. The salaries and the profits are paid for by fees I pay to the bank when I transact and the bank pays to rb. Pure PROFITS are 1% of GDP. Around 35 million a year in profits for servicing 300k people. This is considered a relatively efficient banking system.
