When I was homeless and living out of my car (for like a week so take this with a grain of salt), I would use gym membership trials to shower for free, and sleep at the highway rest stops that truckers frequented (because with that kind of traffic they were relatively safe). I can't pour a slab, construct a simple steel framed + steel cladded barn and live in it (alone) in Australia for many various reasons. A few years ago I started my own business, a martial arts dojo. I rented a warehouse with a mezzanine office and had sprung mat flooring in the warehouse space. I rigged up an entrance with timber that would keep out insects and unwanted people.

There was a shower, toilet and sink in the warehouse area. At night I would close the dojo, have dinner in the office then shower and sleep in a bed I set up in the office. In the morning, I'd wake up, shower, have breakfast and do some chores before the first students arrived. I did this day in and day out for about a year. It was a very comfortable existence and I had my own dojo and gym 24/7.

I didn't have a kitchen unfortunately, so I ate mostly rice, pickled vegetables, fruit and nuts. I did have a fridge though.

Business folded due to termite infestation which ate away everything I built. Insurance didn't cover it and I couldn't afford a refit. I gave up trying to teach martial arts as a business after that.

I managed a storage facility for a few months, the company I worked for was constantly expanding and building new properties. These things are built the absolute cheapest way possible, including the labor that puts them up. Electricity is rigged up by some late 20's-mid 30's construction grug running on his 5th Monster Ultra cause he's worked 50 hours this week already and it's only Thursday. We constantly had to have repair crews come in to fix wiring, repair damages from windy weather, etc. Poisonous ass bugs LOVE getting into these things to in the outdoor units. You're better off buying a pre-built shed from Home Depot and setting it up on a cheap plot of land somewhere.

There's so many legalities involved with these contracts and agents are encouraged to basically just get you to sign after stating the basic rules. Most places will just have access codes stop working after a certain time and someone watching live video to keep people from living in them.
