Im assuming he got a corrupted version from the website, Electrum has gotten such hacks in the past where they replace the Exe in the front end and people believe they created a clean wallet.
If he used a Ledger in combination with Spectrum then no idea how he got drained.

>> No.52557681

Yeah I remember the hack where the victim will reference a bad node that says you need to update and the update is a hacked version of electrum.

As long as you have a clean version, reference your own node, use a hw wallet, in a multi-sig, and secure your data you should be unstoppable

What are the alternatives?

Use USD which is based on ESG
See your race discriminated against at all levels (education, work, banking liquidity)
Watch those doing it gets bailed out again and again?

I'd rather have a fighting chance than submit to extermination.

Possible, I don't remember. I remember using the seed phrase again because the password didn't work or I got it wrong. The theft happened months later after I had "used up" some of the BTC.

It happened when I was on vacation but I didn't check the wallet for months anyway.

In electrum it defaults to connecting to a reference node.
These are all intelligence agencies and hackers.

You need to run your own Bitcoin node and before starting electrum you switch some options so it doesn't auto connect.
Then you manually connect your own node to it so you can't be fed any incorrect info or asked to "update" or something

It sounds like they hacked you when you put your seed phrase in.
It's always good to airgap your seed phrase to a dedicated device like a hw wallet so that it is never clear a hacker what it is.

Maybe someone accessed your physical wallet seed? If you were away on vacation.

Get better security on both the way you use it and secure it.
Look into multi-sig wallet schemes.

>> No.52558027

Maybe you were referencing a hackers node and he had it set up to give you an error and update notification?
Then you changed the version of the software and gave him your keys?

Then he waited to see if you were stacking or spending and then robbed you.

Yes it always auto-connected and immediately showed the balance. Thank you for your tips. Crypto really depends on the good guys winning, people like you.

>>52557912
>Maybe someone accessed your physical wallet seed? If you were away on vacation.

It seems very unlikely, but who knows? Not sure if I even want to find out. Converting to ETH and putting some in exchanges saved me a lot of cryptoassets.

Well think of it this way, when they stole it, they stole about $8.5k (0.167 * 50000). But since you jsut now realized they took it now, it is only worth $2.5k (0.167 * 15000).

So essentially you stole six grand from them

There are people in this thread who trade with the same computer they look up porn and pirate games on.
The people who think they're better than that still even have SMS 2FA.
